क्या अश्वत्थामा जिंदा है?
हां जी। अश्वत्थामा अभी जिंदा हैं। क्योंकि महाभारत के उस अंतिम समय में उसने जो पाण्डवों को मारने के लिए ब्रमास्त्र भेजा था उसे वह वापस नहीं ले सका जिसके कारण भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने उसे श्राप दे दिया था की वह कलयुग के अंत तक जीवित रहेगा और उसके शरीर से गंदी बदबू आती रहेगी।
अश्वत्थामा कौन था?
महाभारत युद्ध से पूर्व गुरु द्रोणाचार्य अनेक स्थानों में भ्रमण करते हुए हिमालय (ऋषिकेश) प्हुचे। वहाँ तमसा नदी के तट पर एक दिव्य गुफा में तपेश्वर नामक स्वयंभू शिवलिंग है। यहाँ गुरु द्रोणाचार्य और उनकी पत्नी माता कृपि ने शिव की तपस्या की। इनकी तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव ने इन्हे पुत्र प्राप्ति का वरदान दिया। कुछ समय पश्चात् माता कृपि ने एक सुन्दर तेजश्वी बाल़क को जन्म दिया। जन्म ग्रहण करते ही इनके कण्ठ से हिनहिनाने की सी ध्वनि हुई जिससे इनका नाम अश्वत्थामा पड़ा। जन्म से ही अश्वत्थामा के मस्तक में एक अमूल्य मणि विद्यमान थी। जो कि उसे दैत्य, दानव, शस्त्र, व्याधि, देवता, नाग आदि से निर्भय रखती थी। वह मणि अश्वत्थामा को बुढ़ापे, भूख, प्यास और थकान से भी बचाती थी। भगवान शिव से प्राप्त उस शक्तिशाली दिव्य मणि ने अश्वत्थामा को लगभग अजेय और अमर बना दिया था।
