The Anomaly - Mesa Boogie Prototype 150 watt RevC Dual Rectifier
That’s right, it’s finally happening. After all these years of owning The Anomaly, here are some tones.
Every amplifier nerd is beside themselves the day they hear this amp even exists. Interestingly and somewhat surprisingly, this amp is pretty much as far from a Recto as it could be, while also retaining all the good things about a Recto that everyone actually likes.
With Mesa’s earliest designed production preamp, this particular rectifier is aggressive, open and raw. These are typically characteristics that are found in most Soldano SLO100, but with the tighter, punchier and bigger bottom end than any SLO100. Unlike a lot of other rectifiers, this rectifier throws the low end across the room, while simultaneously, the low end also sits right in front of the speaker cabinet similar to a Mesa Boogie Mark Series.
Everything from crunchy rock goodness, to heavy articulated rhythm, to balanced and soaring lead playing, it’s a Rectifier that can do all of that without any help. Rolling back your guitar volume showcases this amplifier’s high gain channel that can also clean up, resembling more of a Fender style clean. Roll your guitar volume up and it’s gain bliss.
The Anomaly, the Revision C, 150 watt prototype Dual Rectifier.
From Fluff’s website of Early Mesa Boogie Rectifier goodness, you’ll discover the research that has been done and discover more from the man that built this amp himself, Mike B.

VHT/Fryette Deliverance 120 #5
#5 ever made, VHT/Deliverance 120. This beast of an amp is a loud monster. Trying out some different spots in the room to capture the essence of the Deliverance 120’s tone. Wet/Dry/Wet of course.

Jet Guitar JS-400, EVH Iconic, wet/dry/wet
Reviewing the Jet Guitars JS-400. After a year of playing and putting it through some paces, I finally get to take some time and record some tones from this great guitar. One of the best guitars on the market for its price!
Humbucker overdriven tones from the EVH Iconic.

Guitar players dream rigs
Very exciting!! Lots of tones and demos to come. Super excited to show what these amps and cabinet combinations can do. All of these amps are capable of so much more than the corners they’ve been backed into.
Country, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Metal…Bogner, Friedman, Fryette, PRS, Mesa Boogie…they can do it all…and we’re about to prove it.

2014 Friedman BE100: HBE Channel + C45 switch
Getting a few questions about the BE100 and if it can really do high gain. Putting it simply, YES! The BE100 circuit absolutely can do high gain. It’ll hang with the high gain monsters out there for sure! And I have a few great examples of other high gain monsters where I’ll do a comparison video down the road😉
The HBE Channel isn’t the best example, but it is a great example of one high gain sound from the BE. The BE Channel with the SAT switch is a better example, but I don’t have that video yet…yet.
Using my Marshall 412 with Mesa V30s and DV-77s with my 2010 PRS Tremonti. Straight in, no pedals!

Reinhold modded Rev 2 Bogner Uberschall
Second video with the 1 of 2 Reinhold modded (Revision 2) Bogner Uberschall (the other being a Revision Original). This time through my Marshall 1960BX with Eminence DV-77s and Mesa V30s in an X pattern. This cab with these speakers is incredibly thick, but has clarity. More punch and more 3D than the Recto cabs.
Amp cleans up extremely well with the guitar volume for an amp with THIS much gain!
Using a stock 2010 PRS Tremonti.

Prototype Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Rev C
On deck, 1992 Prototype 150 watt Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Revision C MONSTER!
If you’re familiar with Fluff on YouTube, you may know the website that he created for anybody interested in the early 2 Channel Rectifier Amplifiers. Link: (https://www.rectifierguide.com/)
Well this is the one and only Prototype 150 watt Rev C Dual Rect that he mentions on his Rectifier Guide website.
If you haven’t checked out his website, please do!! If you’re a Recto, amplifier nerd like Fluff and myself, you’ll enjoy the read!! Check out my Prototype Recto in the “Anomalies” section near the bottom. It’s a beast!

Friedman BE100
Okay! 2014 Friedman BE100 through Marshall 1960BX with two Mesa V30s and two Eminence DV-77s in an X pattern. Trying out the BE channel with no switches on then switch over to the HBE channel!
Voicing switch in the normal position, no C45, no Fat switch, no SAT switch and all the EQ is at noon. Gain at 7, master volume is only at 2. Dave Friedman has the best master volumes on the market! Even at “bedroom” volume his amps sound like there wide open. Guitar is a stock 2010 PRS Tremonti.
Great tone at any volume!!

Reinhold modded Rev 2 Bogner Uberschall
Testing my first upload. Using my 1 of 2 Reinhold modded Revision 2 Bogner Uberschall (the other being a Revision Original). The mods that Reinhold did to this Uber gave it more gain, more/tighter bass. It’s like putting an overdrive in front but without the downfalls that boosting a dirty amp does.
Playing it through a Mesa Oversized Recto 412 with V30s. Using my Warmoth Strat with an EVH Frankie pickup. G-lab SD1 delay in the loop of the amp.
