MyRobotLab Part 18 Setting MRL on the Raspberry Pi
In this 18th video in the series, we look at setting MRL on the Raspberry Pi
You will first need to download and install the Raspberry Pi Imager.
You can find it on the Raspberry Pi website here: https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/
I used the legacy Buster OS.
After installing the OS on the microSD card and starting the raspberry pi up, I connected using putty available from here: https://www.putty.org/
sudo raspi-config
Then enable the VNC access
To install Chromium run the command below:
sudo apt-get install chromium
To install Java 11 run the command below:
sudo apt-get install openjdk-11-jdk
Use the command below to edit the sound setting in Java:
sudo nano /etc/java-11-openjdk/sound.properties
Add the following 4 line to the sound.properties file:
javax.sound.sampled.Clip=com.sun.media.sound.DirectAudioDeviceProvider

MyRobotLab Part 17 The RasPi Service
In this 17th video in the series, we look at the RasPi Service
This is one of the few dedicated, Single Board Computer (SBC) Service.
The Raspberry Pi is a popular inexpensive computer and used quite a bit in Robotics because of its low cost.
MyRobotLab (MRL) while powerful will run on hardware as small as the Raspberry Pi 3 and even better on the Raspberry Pi 4.
Don't expect great performance from the OpenCV service, but the RasPi service does make the General Purpose Input Output (GPIO) pins available for use by MRL.

Raspberry Pi Robot HAT Part 3
Design of the Raspberry Pi Robo HAT.
In the first video I looked at the list of requirements then created schematics for the Raspi header, the ID_EEPROM, MPU6050 and the PCA9685.
In last video, I look at the rest of the parts I need on the first board.
In this video I look at all the components of the daughter board to complete the list of requirements.
This is a wish list in order of most important to least.
Most of my robots don't have much spare room, so I needed to get as much as possible that is useful onto the board.
Items at the top of the list must be present, while items near the bottom of the list are optional.
1) Conforms to the Raspberry Pi Foundations specifications for a Hardware Attached on Top (HAT).
2) Provision for a 4 pin head to supply 5V, Gnd, I2C_SCL and I2C_SDA that is 5V tollerant.
3) Contains a MPU6050 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).
4) Contains a PCA9685 16 channel LED/Servo driver.
5) Servo power supply MUST be seperate to the Raspi and other IO power.
6) Contains 4 or more INA219 current sensors.
7) Contains 2 ADS1115 4 channel 16 bit Analog Input Devices.
8) Contains 1 MPR121 12 channel capacitive touch sensor.
9) Contains 1 PCF8574 8 channel digital IO expander.

MyRobotLab Part 15, the AdafruitIna219 Service
In this 15th video in the series, we look at the AdafruitIna219 Service
The INA219 chip is a DC power sensing chip.
It works by measuring the voltage of the supply to ground, and then the voltage of a shunt resistor to ground.
Subtracting the latter from the former give the voltage drop across the shunt resistor.
Knowing the value of the shunt resistor, allows us to calculate the current flowing through the resistor.
Knowing the current flowing and the voltage across the load, allows us to calculate the power being used as well :-)
This install is using a Windows 10 Computer and the Arduino Nano.
My load is a servo being powered by a 6V battery pack.

WaveShare WM8960 unboxing
Unboxing the Waveshare WM8960 Raspberry Pi Audio HAT.
In theory, this should a good addition to the Raspi SBC.
In Practice, there are issues with the driver support in the Raspbian OS.
I tested this with Buster 32 bit, but reports indicate the issues are also present in the Bullseye 32 and 64 bit versions as well.

SpotMicro Part 30
Robot Dog, Part 30.
I had a delivery of a WaveShare PCA9685 16 channel servo driver.
I installed it to give it a try.
In the first seven videos we built a robot dog based on the Boston Dynamics Spot, only smaller.
In part 8, we installed the Bullseye Raspbian OS into the MicroSD card along with Java 11, MRL and WiringPi
In Part 9 we downloaded and installed the SpotMicro_MRL program and we started looking at how the program worked.
In Part 10, we looked at the Servo Services and start the servo calibration process.
In Parts 11 and 12, we started looking at the Kinematic programs, more specifically Forward and Inverse Kinematics.
In Part 13, we added reinforcement of the Top Arm joints.
In Part 14 we started to look at the start of combining the kinematics with coordinated movement controls.
In Part 15 as a result of issues with the Rasperry Pi's power when all the servos started moving, I added a capacitor on the Raspberry Pi's Power Supply.
In Part 16 I continued with the combining the kinematics with coordinated movement controls and covered some of the gesture controls demo in this at the same time.
In Part 17 We looked at Planes of Reference.
In Part 18, I had a failure, one of the servo horns for the wrist broke free and cause a servo on the other leg to get too hot.
In Part 19, I look at programming with Classes in Python to help control the legs.
In Part 20, I continure with the programming in classes to control the legs in both the Robot Pane of Reference and the Inertial Center of Mass Plane of Reference.
In Part 21, I replace the servos and sort out the stripped servo horn.
In Part 22, I Upgraded the version of My Robot Lab (MRL) from version 1.1.822 to 1.1.1041.
In Part 23, I start looking at the program from 6 months ago to see how we need to upgrade it for the latest versions of MRL.
In Part 24, I have made significant progress towards using the new configs in MRL
In Part 25, Working through the reduced servo torque an trying to control the speed with wich things happen.
In Part 26, Working through the slow process of debugging the code.
In Part 27, Still working through the slow process of debugging the code.
In Part 28, Spot does a forward flip while testing the program, still more debugging required.
In Part 29, I found the Back Left Wrist was broken near the servo, so I repaired it with a 3D Pen.
You can find the github repository for the SpotMicro_MRL program here:
https://github.com/Cyber-One/SpotMicro_MRL
The repository not only has the program, but also a list of the parts used.
As part of repository, you will also find the documentation I have been building as part of this robot build.
There is also a message posted in the discord whenever I update the program.
Any updates I make to the MRL_SpotMicro program will be included as part of the repository.

This is an alternative for the Wanhao Di3+ LCD enclosure. The standard enclosure puts the LCD in a 90 degrees angle towards the table and that makes it hard to read. This enclosure will put the LCD in 60 degrees angle which improves readability at the cost of a slightly large space on the table.

Magnetic Glass Bed Clips - Wanhao D6 / Monoprice Ultimate by brentd27 is licensed under the Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike license.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2783609
These are highly customizable bed clips for the Wanhao Duplicator 6 / Monoprice Maker Ultimate. The bottom piece bolts to the bottom of the bed using 3mmx6mm machine screws. The original screws are not long enough, so you'll need longer ones. How long depends on how you customize the part, but the default settings work very well with 3mmx8mm screws with the original cardboard washer.
