On September 3, 2023, at around 6:30 PM, officers were dispatched to a person shot call at 490 Whitehall Street in Southwest Atlanta. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who appeared to have been shot. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Responding officers were advised a Georgia State Patrol Trooper had been near the shooting when it occurred and observed the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the scene. The trooper was able to stop the vehicle and detain both occupants. Investigators recovered the rifle from the suspect's vehicle and determined the female suspect fired at the victim as the male suspect drove their vehicle.

On August 11, 2023, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) notified COPA of a fatal officer-involved shooting. Preliminary information indicates that this incident occurred when two on-duty Chicago police officers in a marked police vehicle observed a confrontation between two individuals. The officers reportedly observed one individual with a firearm in their back pocket. When the officers engaged, the armed individual fled, and officers pursued them into a residence. Inside the residence, officers gave verbal commands to drop the weapon, as they struggled over the individual’s firearm. The individual and one of the officers both discharged their weapons, at which time the individual was struck and transported to the hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. A gun was recovered on scene
