Today we took a ride through the harbour inside the Panama Canal and visited the Shipwreck graveyard... If those ships could talk I'll be there'd be some good stories! After that we found out from ePropulsion that there must be a problem with our electric drive system as they said we should be going faster than 6.5kts at full power, so they recommended we switched to one of the other propellors they sent us for testing... who would have thought that we'd gain an additional 50% boat speed just with a different prop! Today is the first test of our new electric dinghy conversion by ePropulsion! Our new system consists of an ePropulsion Navy6.0 6Kw EVO motor which is a direct drive brushless motor, so the actual motor is underwater and supposed to be completely silent.. and the motor is powered by an ePropulsion e175 9Kw LiFePO4 Lithium battery bank with a full digital control system that will tell us battery remaining, speed, distance remaining at current load, and even has wireless bracelet man-overboard protection!
