Round Table Discussion VI : Can the LPP Reduce the Impacts of Natural Hazards on Vulnerable Groups?
This consultation examines the ability of the Livelihood Protection Policy to aid in the responses of vulnerable groups to natural hazards. Over this two hour period, MCII, CCRIF SPC and CPDC provided a deep dive into parametric insurance and its benefits, also an analysis of the potential for policy changes to improve the accessibility of these products for the most vulnerable.
The livelihood protection policy (LPP) supports vulnerable, low-income households with the recovery from heavy rainfall and/or strong winds. The LPP provides cash payouts immediately following extreme weather events, enabling them to rebuild quickly.
