In this video, we dive into the tragic story of Philadelphia rapper YBCDul, who recently went viral for desecrating his opp's gravesite in a music video. Just a day before his death, YBCDul was interviewed by YouTuber Brandon Buckingham, who sought to exploit the dangerous gang culture of West Philadelphia for clicks and views. This situation highlights the extreme lengths rappers will go to for clout and the way people outside of the culture exploit these moments for their gain. The layers of disrespect within our culture, particularly toward our own, are part of the reason why Black lives are devalued. In this video, I also revisit my previous discussion on why some Black lives seem to matter more than others and the alarming statistic that Black lives are lost to gang violence 22 times a day.
