We decided to use a 1 gallon can of corn with 12 golf balls sitting on top to test the potency of the Hydrostatic Shock produced by shooting the unopened liquid filled can with a 325 gr Swift Hollow Point Bullet. The results to say the least were impressive! Sam gets a lesson once again on wearing eye protection, it's a must! Good thing it was a piece of corn hitting him in the face this time. He will wear shooting glasses from now on!
This is the video we produced for the 2018 Triggrcon Golden Trigger Awards. Sadly we did not win the Golden Trigger Award, though the judges thought we should win one for the best presentation and video!
Sam shows us the features of our AR500 production rifle chambered in 500 Auto Max. The rifle is equipped with an 18" barrel, muzzle break, adjustable gas block, M lok hand guard, full pic rail, adjustable butt stock, 1" recoil pad and the receiver is machined with an AR15 mag well. Factory ammo is available from Buffalo Bore, Underwood Ammo and Colorado Custom Cartridge and cases available from Starline Brass. We are taking new orders and filling our pre sale orders now! Visit our website or give us a call for more info!
The 440gr Hard Cast load out of our Model 89 chambered in 500 Smith & Wesson Magnum is no joke! We've taken a considerable amount of game with this load including Kodiak Bears and Bison. One of our top energy producing loads, it does a number on the ham!
We tested some level 2A soft body armor with the Big Horn Armory Model 90A 454 Casull and the Model 89 500 Smith & Wesson. For a baseline we start with a 9mm and 45ACP to show the difference. This armor is rated to stop up to 44 Magnum.
We get a lot of questions on the velocity differences between the different barrel lengths we offer. With most loads we typically see more velocity out of the 18" barrel, but different loads yield different results. In this test we're shooting the Federal 500 S&W 325gr A-Frame Bullet.
Hunting footage - viewer discretion advised. That being said, proper shot placement is crucial when hunting any animal for a quick, clean kill and preserve meat for the table, especially with the Model 89 shooting half inch 500 Smith & Wesson projectiles!
We decided to revisit concrete blocks since Underwood Ammo sent us some Xtreme Penetrator rounds. We compare a 600gr hard cast, a 700gr hard cast and a 350gr Xtreme Penetrator. After reviewing the footage we notice the shot with the 700gr bullet hit low on the block, causing the whole thing to fracture due to shock and not penetration, so it didn't shoot through the center like the other 2 so we're going to try the 700gr bullets again to see how far they'll penetrate compared to the other 2. We think it will match the Xtreme Penetrator performance, what do you think?
Well we know how spectacular small cans filled with liquid explode from heavy 500 Auto Max bullet impacts fired from the AR500, so we decided to try a larger 1 gallon can of tomato sauce. Anyone know where we can get an even larger can?
Buffalo Bore sent us new factory ammo for the AR500, some 500gr jacketed flat points which we put to the test on a Turkey. These will be some great hunting rounds as they don't completely destroy the turkey like the hollow point bullets do, but create a descent wound channel. But, Sam of course has to send a follow up shot with a 275gr DPB Bullet to finish it off...
