Can You Help?
We are trying to get to the most important kids prosthetics event in the world!
We need to find $3,670 (£3,000) to fly to Germany and exhibit at the 4 day event next May. We've been given a start-up exhibition stand in the centre of the show which will be heavily promoted but we cant get a bursary from the UK as the budget is all gone... apparently.. Please help if you can. We are using give send go to support the leading #freespeech platform. If you can't afford to chip in (I nmust be mad trying to crowd fund in a cost of living crisis!) then you can send prayers on the platform or possibly consider sharing our campaign - that would be awesome!
Why dont we raise investment? Its a non profit with no share options. In order to work freely with university professors and stop investors raising our prices too high - it was best to take the non-profit route.
Why don't we use sales to pay for it? We are about to launch in the US where we have a manufacturing team, clinicians and people who need our kits.
Why dont you pay for it yourself? Lockdown killed my public speaking career which used to pay for everything. Being vocal about what's happened since 2020 also made me unpopular I think. I now only work on Ambionics in the evenings and cant find decent paying work where I live.
Please help if you can thank you- much love, Ben and Sol

How to Adjust Prosthetic Sockets in Fusion 360 | Tutorial
After 5 months of using the Vario system, it looks like Sol needs a new #Prosthetic socket. This video is a How-to on digital socket adjustments and contains #Tips for #Autodesk #Fusion360 when modeling organic geometry. Sol compares two check sockets at the end.
Background: Sol recently began showing signs that his first Vario-socket needs replacing. After heavy play periods and especially after sports, Sol is left with a red mark from where his paw is rubbing against the socket. It's not painful but is something that cannot be left to worsen. When this starts to happen, Sol must wear a cotton sock over his paw whenever he uses his device. This protects the affected area and along with some ointment, keeps things moving for a couple of weeks. Sol doesn't like wearing cotton socks (which are just 0-6 month-old baby socks). He prefers the smooth surface of annealed rubber which creates a 'suction fit' allowing him to really throw the device around (for example when balancing or changing direction suddenly in football). The sock makes the arm feel loose and that won't do! It's now a race against time to get the new one fabricated. As we are moving into the UK summer, white, expanded rubber will be used this time. Be sure to subscribe to make sure you catch the next episode!

A fan from the USA kindly bought Sol a drum kit for Christmas. Here he is practicing before his first lesson from #RickAllen from #DefLeppard next weekend.
What do you think about that?

Voluntary Close | Body Powered Prosthetic Hand: Training Session
I am really impressed with how well my son is learning to use the hand I designed for him. Look at him go!
Sol tested this prototype in school last week and the training at home is coming along nicely. It's alien to him though. He's used to body-powered devices that work the opposite way (normally closed / voluntary open). Fast learner though - the apple didn't fall far from the tree ❤

Live life to the fullest
Another short family video set to soothing music. Filmed (once again) at our favorite beach on Anglesey, Wales, UK.
Sol (4) was wearing a body-powered cable system and a polyester socket which I designed and modelled from a 3D scan.
The hand is a split hook made from aluminum (from Steeper UK) which he can control using the cable system.
The orange part unclips allowing him to attach different hands to the prosthetic socket. Sol does have a prosthetist too but finds my devices more comfortable, lighter, and easier to use.

Sol's Tale
A few Rumblers have asked how Sol lost his arm. Here's a little video I put together showing what happened.
Warning: this film contains graphic images of amputation wounds
It's a horrific but beautiful couple of minutes that will take you on a journey for sure.
