F16 Falcon fighter jet refuels mid-flight 52s

F16 Falcon fighter jet refuels mid-flight

An F16 Fighting Falcon refuels in the sky at 30,000 feet above the ground. This is truly an extraordinary scene! The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft, originally developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) for the United States Air Force. Originally designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. The F-16's official name is "Fighting Falcon", but "Viper" is commonly used by its pilots and crews, due to a perceived resemblance to a viper snake as well as the Colonial Viper starfighter on TV science fiction show Battlestar Galactica. Usually, the aircraft providing the fuel in mid-air refueling is specially designed for the task, although refueling pods can be fitted to existing aircraft designs if the "probe-and-drogue" system is to be used. The cost of the refueling equipment on both tanker and receiver aircraft and the specialized aircraft handling of the aircraft to be refueled (very close "line astern" formation flying) has resulted in the activity only being used in military operations. There is no known regular civilian in-flight refueling activity. (source: Wikipedia)

POV hang-gliding over stunning Carpathian Mountains

Check out this epic POV footage of some hang-gliding action over the beautiful and wild Carpathian Mountains. How cool is that? While the old Europeans used to call them “Snowy Mountains”, “Hungarian Mountains” or "Transylvania's Mountains", the range’s modern name can be translated into “Rocky mountains” from the old Slavic word “skála”, meaning rock or cliff. The Carpathian Mountains or Carpathians are a mountain range system forming an arc roughly 932 mi long across Central and Eastern Europe, making them the second-longest mountain range in Europe. With the picturesque forests and steep slopes, the Carpathian chain of mountains is a popular European destination for those who love extreme sports.

Jaw-dropping paragliding session over sea of clouds1m38s

Jaw-dropping paragliding session over sea of clouds

Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing comprising a large number of interconnected baffled cells. Despite not using an engine, paraglides flight can last many hours and cover many hundreds of kilometers, though flights of one to two hours and covering some tens of kilometers are more the norm. By skillful exploitation of sources of lift, the pilot may gain height, often climbing to altitudes of a few thousand meters. Check out some epic paragliding over a sea of clouds at 10,000 feet above the Carpathian Mountains. Breathtaking scenery!

Wingsuit proximity flight comes inches to hitting cliff1m14s

Wingsuit proximity flight comes inches to hitting cliff

Check out this POV footage of some near-fatal wingsuit proximity flying in Le Brévent, France. These daredevils come INCHES to the cliff walls, trees and terrain. The National Geographic did an exploration on the reason these flyers meet their death during this extreme activity, after a video of a BASE jumper meeting his own death surfaced on the Internet. This man’s real name was Armin Schmieder, an Italian who lived in Freiburg, Germany. He was a 28-year-old father to a young child. BASE is an acronym standing for the types of objects participants may leap from: Buildings, Antennas, bridges—aka, “Spans"—and the Earth itself, in the form of cliffs. Last year was the deadliest on BASE record. “The simple truth is that wingsuit BASE jumpers don’t know what they are getting into, don’t know how to practice the sport safely, and don’t even know enough to know how little they know." is written in the NG article. Le Brévent is a mountain of Haute-Savoie, France, first opened in 2012. However, following a series of accidents within a short amount of time, it was closed by local authorities. It remains one of the most technical exits in the world, and for good reason!
