Polish Basics - Learning to Greet in Polish with Daniel
Welcome to episode 461 of the Learn Polish Podcast, "Polish Basics - Learning to Greet in Polish with Daniel", where we are offering new and improved programming while maintaining our mission to help you learn Polish in a fun and interactive setting. This episode is all about greetings in Polish – a must-know topic for anyone planning a trip to Poland or interested in its language and culture.
This episode is guided by the insightful Daniel. To start off, Daniel goes over the fundamental greeting ‘dzień dobry’, equivalent to 'good day' or 'hello', which you would use regularly when meeting somebody. He explains this is a handy phrase to have at the ready, as it's culturally appropriate to use variations of the greeting depending on the time of day and formality of the situation.
We then transition into 'dobry wieczór,' which translates to 'good night' or 'good evening.' This is another common greeting to use throughout your day, particularly if you find yourself in a shop or out later in the night.
The next part of the lesson is about 'Cześć.' It has a dual meaning of ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ but is mostly used informally. The less common yet still essential greetings such as 'witam' (welcome) and 'do vidzénia' (goodbye) are also covered.
We wrap up the show detailing how to use various other casual greetings that are popular among youngsters. Even though greetings like 'seama’ (how’s it going) and ‘hey’ aren’t used traditionally, they are quite trendy and convey coolness. Daniel further shares some of his uses of these greetings amongst his friends.
This podcast episode is available on various platforms including Rumble and YouTube, and can be listened on Bitchute. Join us next time for another educational and enjoyable lesson on Polish vocabulary and conversation. Thank you for listening!

In 1996, upon discharge from the military, he took employment at an oil trading company in Monaco. In 1998 he became the head of risk and in 2000 the company's CEO. Easter Celebrations - Episode 456
Welcome to the 456th episode of Learn Polish Podcast. Today we discuss the traditions and customs surrounding the Easter holiday in Poland. As we delve into the symbolic representations of Easter from little lambs, colourful eggs to daffodils, we add an interesting angle by throwing light on how these symbols differ from those in Ireland.
In this thought-provoking episode, we also entertain the listeners with fun facts about some common Easter dishes and flowers that signify this holiday. Reminiscing about Easter in Poland and Ireland, we compare the differences and peculiarities of the holiday in both countries. For example, while the Poles follow a custom of painting eggs (pisanki), this tradition is seemingly absent in Ireland.
We also explain the Polish custom of Święconka or the blessing of the Easter basket and compare it with Irish traditions. We talk about how the variety of food and even alcohol is brought to church on Holy Saturday to be blessed and then eaten on Easter Sunday in Poland, a tradition which is not seen in Ireland.
Intriguingly, we also explore the language link between the Easter cake (Babka) and interesting phrases in Polish. We encourage you to join us on this fascinating journey to understand the rich cultural nuances of the Easter holiday in Poland and Ireland. We invite listeners to share their Easter traditions in the comments to help us broaden our understanding of these cultural celebrations.

Understanding the Word 'O'
Welcome to the Learn Polish Podcast where we delve into the intricacies of the Polish language. In this episode, we dissect the meaning of the word 'O'. The word 'O' is versatile and dynamic in the Polish language, posing an interesting challenge to learners. Let's unravel its mysteries together.
Primarily, 'O' translates to 'about' in English. We utilize it while talking about who or what we are thinking about, bringing to the forefront expressions like o kim myślisz or o czym myślisz, that translate to who are you thinking about or what are you thinking about respectively.
Contrarily, it could also mean 'at' in English during certain contexts, particularly while inquiring about the time. Consequently, we come up with phrases such as, 'O której godzinie budzisz się?' This translates to, 'At what time do you wake up?'.
Interestingly, 'O' is also used quite frequently when asking for something - 'I ask for your help' would be 'Proszę o pomoc' in Polish.

Bio of Ruth Fearnow :
Ruth Fearnow is a therapist, author and speaker. Her first book, Therapeutic Mindfulness, is a synthesis of her decades-long meditation practice and her work healing trauma and mental distress. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) practitioner, she has identified and embedded the factors necessary for healing into therapeutic mindfulness, a skill that facilitates one's healing journey.
Ruth's private journey began as a young woman when she found herself studying kung fu and qi gong in Dengfeng City, China, the home of the famous Shaolin Temple. It was there she began a serious meditation practice. While this skill takes years to develop, this was her first big step to understanding mindfulness practices.
Ruth's evolution into a trauma therapist has enabled her to integrate age-old wisdom with trauma-informed insight. As a result, she has developed healing philosophies and the process of therapeutic mindfulness which she practices personally, and teaches to her clientele, many of whom use it on their own. Therapeutic mindfulness has now been adopted for professional use by colleagues in the mental health field.
When not working or spreading the word of Therapeutic Mindfulness, Ruth enjoys singing, community theater and time with her wonderful family.

Nick Craciun underwent a remarkable transformation, overcoming depression and addiction by adopting a lifestyle centered on detoxing, homegrown sprouts, microgreens, juicing, infrared saunas, and regular exercise.
About my Guest:
In early 2021, Nick's life was marked by poor health, depression, excess weight, and digestive issues due to an unfulfilling job in a machine shop, an unhealthy diet, and reliance on energy drinks. However, a turning point came when he discovered the Health Hero Show with Tim James through podcasts, leading him to join the Inner Circle group coaching community. Through Tim's teachings, Nick underwent a remarkable transformation, overcoming depression and addiction by adopting a lifestyle centered on detoxing, homegrown sprouts, microgreens, juicing, infrared saunas, and regular exercise. A year later, he felt like a completely new person. Despite a severe workplace injury in July 2022 that crushed and broke his ankles, Nick attributes his full recovery to maintaining a healthy lifestyle before and during the injury and staying positive afterward. As a single father to a teenage daughter, she remains the center of his world. Nick now works for Chemical Free Body as the Health Hero Specialist and health coach, runs a microgreens business from home, and educates children on the importance of growing food and cultivating sprouts and microgreens for themselves.

Understanding the Versatility of "Czy" in the Polish Language | Learn Polish Podcast - Episode 451
In episode 451 of the Learn Polish Podcast, we delve into the fascinating complexities of Polish language, focusing on a single, powerful word— "Czy." We unpack its different meanings, usages, and contexts, providing a rich resource for both new and advanced students of the language.
Throughout the episode, we discuss three main contexts in which "Czy" is used. First, it emulates the English language's question format— "Do you know?", "Do you like?", and "Do you have?". We provide a variety of examples, asking listeners, for instance, whether they "like reading in Polish?" or "know Poland?".
Next, we discover "Czy" as a replacement for the English word "or", shedding light on options and choices in daily conversations. As a simple example, we pose the question of "tea or coffee?" in Polish as "Kawa czy herbata?". Similarly, the podcast takes learners through phrases like "Ciasto czy lody?" and "Ziemniaki czy frytki?", encouraging them to give their own examples.
Finally, we explore "Czy" in use cases mirroring the English "if", lending a conditional layer to sentences. Phrases such as "Zobaczę, czy mam czas" ("I will see if I have time") serve to demonstrate this context, followed by interactive learning by forming new examples.
This episode guarantees easy comprehension and practical learning of the Polish language. It is designed to add depth to the learning process and cultivate everyday conversational skills. Be sure to give us a thumbs up and share with your friends.
