Geese Crossing
While riding my e-bike through Southlake Park, I came across a group of what looked like Canada geese swimming through the lake. The lead goose chose to lead the family ashore where I was able to get some close-up footage of them and the little baby geese snacking on grass.
This footage was taken on Saturday May 28th around 11:41 AM.

Screaming Fire Engine
A loud screaming fire truck flies thru the intersection right in front of me.
A fire engine, also known in some places as a fire truck or fire lorry, is a road vehicle (usually a truck) that functions as a firefighting apparatus. The primary purposes of a fire engine include transporting firefighters and water to an incident as well as carrying equipment for firefighting operations. Some fire engines have specialized functions, such as wildfire suppression and aircraft rescue and firefighting, and may also carry equipment for technical rescue.
Many fire engines are based on commercial vehicle chassis that are further upgraded and customised for firefighting requirements. They are normally fitted with sirens and emergency vehicle lighting, as well as communication equipment such as two-way radios and mobile computer technology.
The terms fire engine and fire truck are often used interchangeably to a broad range of vehicles involved in firefighting; however, in some fire departments they refer to separate and specific types of vehicle.
The design and construction of fire engines focuses greatly on the use of both active and passive warnings. Passive visual warnings involve the use of high contrast patterns to increase the noticeability of the vehicle. These types of warnings are often seen on older vehicles and those in developing countries.[1] More modern designs make use of retroreflectors to reflect light from other vehicles. Vehicles will also often have these reflectors arranged in a chevron pattern along with the words fire or rescue.[1] European countries commonly use a pattern known as battenburg markings.[2] Along with the passive warnings, are active visual warnings which are usually in the form of flashing colored lights (also known as "beacons" or "lightbars"). These flash to attract the attention of other drivers as the fire truck approaches, or to provide warning to drivers approaching a parked fire truck in a dangerous position on the road. While the fire truck is headed towards the scene, the lights are always accompanied by loud audible warnings such as sirens and air horns.[1]
In some regions, a fire engine may be used to transport first responder firefighters, paramedics or EMTs to medical emergencies due to their proximity to the incident.
The standard fire engine transports firefighters to the scene, provides a limited supply of water with which to fight the fire, and carries equipment needed by the firefighters for most firefighting scenarios. The tools carried on the fire engine will vary greatly based on many factors including the size of the department and the usual situations the firefighters handle. For example, departments located near large bodies of water or rivers are likely to have some sort of water rescue equipment. Standard tools found on nearly all fire engines include ladders, hydraulic rescue tools (often referred to as the jaws of life), floodlights, fire hose, fire extinguishers, self-contained breathing apparatus, and thermal imaging cameras.[5]
The exact layout of what is carried on an engine is decided by the needs of the department. For example, fire departments located in metropolitan areas will carry equipment to mitigate hazardous materials and effect technical rescues, while departments that operate in the wildland-urban interface will need the gear to deal with brush fires.
Some fire engines have a fixed deluge gun, also known as a master stream, which directs a heavy stream of water to wherever the operator points it. An additional feature of engines are their preconnected hose lines, commonly referred to as preconnects.[6] The preconnects are attached to the engine's onboard water supply and allow firefighters to quickly mount an aggressive attack on the fire as soon as they arrive on scene.[6] When the onboard water supply runs out, the engine is connected to more permanent sources such as fire hydrants or water tenders and can also use natural sources such as rivers or reservoirs by drafting water.

Escape To Alcatraz - Fly Around
A simulation fly around and fly by of the Alcatraz Island, which use to be a Federal Penitentiary off the coast of San Francisco. In this video, I give you an up close look at the layout of the island. I included clips that have labels that indicate certain areas of the island, and also labels on the mainland as well. If you have trouble reading any of the labels, just pause the video at whatever point to clarify them for you.
The island was made famous when 3 prisoners, Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin, escaped from the prison, which was also made into a movie in 1979, starring Clint Eastwood at Frank Morris. And another movie depicted inmate Franklin Stroud, the Birman Of Alcatraz.
This video was created on March 9th, 2024, courtesy of Google Earth Studio, and using CapCut, iMovie and DaVinci Resolve for editing purposes.
Wikipedia:
Alcatraz Island (/ˈælkəˌtræz/) is a small island 1.25 miles (2.01 km) offshore from San Francisco, California, United States. The island was developed in the mid-19th century with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, and a military prison. In 1934, the island was converted into a federal prison, Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. The strong currents around the island and cold water temperatures made escape nearly impossible, and the prison became one of the most notorious in American history. The prison closed in 1963, and the island is now a major tourist attraction.
Beginning in November 1969, the island was occupied for more than 19 months by a group of Native Americans, initially primarily from San Francisco, who were later joined by AIM and other urban Indians from other parts of the country, who were part of a wave of Native American activists organizing public protests across the US through the 1970s. In 1972, Alcatraz was transferred to the Department of Interior to become part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
Today, the island's facilities are managed by the National Park Service as part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Visitors can reach the island by ferry ride from Pier 33, located between the San Francisco Ferry Building and Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. Hornblower Cruises, operating under the name Alcatraz Cruises, is the official ferry provider to and from the island.
Alcatraz Island is the site of the abandoned federal prison, the oldest operating lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States, early military fortifications, and natural features such as rock pools and a seabird colony (mostly western gulls, cormorants, and egrets). According to a 1971 documentary on the history of Alcatraz, the island measures 1,675 feet (511 m) by 590 feet (180 m) and is 135 feet (41 m) at highest point during mean tide. The total area of the island is reported to be 22 acres (8.9 ha).
Landmarks on the island include the Main Cellhouse, Dining Hall, Lighthouse, the ruins of the Warden's House and Social Hall, Parade Grounds, Building 64, Water Tower, New Industries Building, Model Industries Building, and the Recreation Yard.

Fox Family Five
Walking into my back yard, I came across a family of foxes playing. Of course the momma fox ( or daddy fox ) stood ground in protection of her little ones. As I moved in closer they all started to retreat to run and hide. It seems there was about 5 of them total, but maybe one or two more.
How many foxes can you count?

Cute Baby Fox Plays With Simple Toy
I rigged up a simple and cheap toy for the foxes to play with in my backyard. I just hammered in a long metal spike into the ground, attached an elastic rope to it and on the other end of the rope, I tied a small foam noodle. I figured they would either play with it, or ignore it. Well the first evening it was out, I was able to catch one of the baby foxes playing with it for a second. A few days later, I went out to check on the toy, and the baby foxes rippled the foam noodle off the rope, so I had to reattach it. I'm sure they're playing with it lots more when I'm not watching.

Momma Fox Barks Back!
The family of foxes showed up in my backyard again the other morning, Saturday, May 7th, 2022. This time it was just the momma fox and two of her baby foxes. Once they spotted me across the lawn, the two baby foxes ran off quickly, and momma fox stood her ground, making sure her two baby foxes were safe before she ran away. But before running away, she had a few things to say to me, and they didn't sound very pleasant. She barked at me about four times before running off and through the wooden fence behind her. Hopefully they will come back for another video op.

Hedge Fun(d) iPad Game
A video of one of the iPad game apps I created a few years ago. The object of the game would be to roll the marble thru the maze of hedges by tilting your iPad, trying to avoid all the pitfalls, to get to the end where you would win prizes. I think I ended up creating 30 different levels, 30 different mazes for this game. It actually turned out really nice. I learned a little bit of xcode, enough to figure out how to create this game. It wasn't easy at all, but I ended up creating about 9 games total.
Did I make any money on it? Not exactly....
Note: This game is no longer available on The App Store.

My New 65" Philips HDTV
Here is my unboxing of my new 65” Phillips 4K HDTV. My last 55” TCL HDTV only lasted slightly over three years before it finally gave out. It started giving me problems about 4 to 5 months ago, with cable channels pixelating and/or freezing up. Sometimes the menu would not work at all. The TV would freeze up, and you could not reboot it until it would reboot itself 5 or 10 minutes later. Just all kinds of trouble with that TCL TV, and their customer service was not much help either. It all started when it did an automatic update on the software, and the new software patch they put in started messing things up. And there was no way to turn off the automatic software update, so you could instead do it manually when you were prepared to. And the Roku on the TV was messed up as well. I never did like the Roku remote control, which they tried to simplify everything and would not give you hardly any buttons at all, especially the number buttons. So once it finally gave out for good, I knew it was time to get me a new one. I was lucky enough to have it delivered to me on the day of the Super Bowl. This TV is an Android smart TV, which works pretty well so far. It’s not the greatest, but you only get so many choices in today’s HD TV landscape. Most of the 65” TVs are Roku, or other brands that are either too high priced, or Brands that I do not care for. But this TV for the price tag of $448 it’s pretty good. I went ahead and got the five year warranty on it for an extra $69. I figure I might as well do that since my last TV only lasted three years and crapped out on me.
The picture looks great on this TV. I first had to adjust the "picture settings" to finally get it tuned in correctly. At first the deep blacks were really faded out and looked really odd. But after correcting the tints and hues, everything looked great. The volume is not as loud as I'd like, even with my cheap sound bar hooked up, which has to be on the right setting also, or will just make crackling noises. Every once in a while it will exit out of an app for no apparent reason. But whenever I think it needs a restart, it only takes less than a minute to recycle thru a restart, and everything seems good after that. My old TCL restart would take around 5 minutes sometimes. And, of course, the full feature remote control is worth it. Roku just got way too cute, trying to simplify and streamline their remotes, where it was a pain to switch channels effectively. With this remote, its a breeze!

Zeus On The Loose
Zeus and I ended up playing a little game of "Cat and Mouse" when it was time for him to go inside for the evening. He was all chummy with me up until the moment it was time for him to hang it up for the night. He darted off his front patio and ran down a few yards. Climbed up in a tree then ran down a few yards more. After locating him later, he then tried to escape my clutches several times, to prolong his night of frolicking. Zeus finally tired out, and gave up. Moments later he was found on the couch snoozing, tuckered out from his night of running around the neighborhood.
