Arc Alchemist: A770 on Manjaro
I thought I had uploaded this to Rumble, but apparently not. This was captured on 5/12/24 before Manjaro's current release state and looks at the Arc Alchemist A770 on the 6.8 kernel against the also then recently released Proton version 9.

Ride Along 5/20 - Not a Good Idea Edition
Right then, so this is yet another bad idea of a video, so I might as well take a moment and spell somethings out. I am not wearing or using a stabilizing rig for these Ride Along videos. I am literally holding the phone in one hand, and swapping hands as needed to control gears or seat height. Which is fine enough on flat surfaces.
For this video I decided to keep filming as I hit one section of the single tracks trail, which is a, at least for me, complicated uphill climb through a forest. Keep in mind then that I'm taking the trail one handed.
As to the bike itself, well, it's a 2019 Trek. According to my current Fitness Tracker I have at least 2,555 miles logged, but I know the distance calculations are not accurate enough. I'm assuming, based on average distances, that there's another 2,000 miles on the previous fitness tracker of a different brand, and probably 500+ miles of untracked miles, suggesting I've put somewhere north of 5,000 miles on the frame. Probably more.
So, let's talk about some of the noises that are probably going to be apparent if you are watching this:
The fork, the suspension, and the crank are stock. The fork has a metallic bonk to it, and the crank has a noticeable grind at lower RPM's.
The Pedals are Race Face Atlas Pedals, which went on the same week the bike was purchased. They both have developed a noticeable bearing grind.
The gear cassette has already been replaced once after I managed to bend the steel on an SRAM XG-1230 Eagle. I want to say it was replaced with an XG-1275, but it's been too long. Given that cog #4 is stripping out on any incline with any torque applied I may be in the market for a new cassette, or maybe not.
I recently snapped the stock derailleur and because of budget/time, I'm pretty sure the replacement derailleur may have been a downgrade, and tuning it in has been... problematic. I don't know if Cog 4's inability to hold the chain is a result of damage I've inflicted on the cog, or my inability do dial in the derailleur just right.
So yes, I know, my bike is noisy, probably needs new parts, but right now it works.

Carnage Continues: RTX 2060 / I7-930
This is a followup to the recent video looking at the Arc Alchemist A770 running atop Manjaro's 6.8 Linux Kernel with Valve's Proton 9.
It is ALSO a followup to the Intel I7-920 / DFI X58 Lan Party Jr. system from a series I was running on YT referred to as "Carnage."
This video does, in a way, resolve the Carnage Series, but not in the way I had likely anticipated.

Storm Ride : 5/9
One of the reasons I film this particular segment of the ride is that it's a relatively flat portion of the entire ride. What you don't see is the amount of time it takes to actually get to the trailhead I use, nor the amount of time between that trailhead and these filmed segments.
So while I come prepared for a little bit of rain, I cannot say I was prepared for a literal wall of water sweeping towards me.

BioGun: First Stream
One of the developers of BioGun was involved with the, well, failed ReVeN Kickstarter. To quote from a Kickstarter update:
"I spoke to the team about the ReVeN situation and they agreed to give all of the backers that pledged to the EarlyBird and $15 and up tiers a FREE STEAM KEY of BioGun on release."
Well, BioGun has released, and the keys went out.
Now, to be fair, I didn't perform any research on BioGun before starting the game up. There are/were some known issues that are documented in the Discord for the game. I just started a Twitter/X stream and jumped in and quickly caused one bug, and then noticed a second bug while the stream was replaying through in Twitter/X studio.
The second bug is a visual stutter/hitch. At some point in the stream I switched from Fullscreen to Windowed mode and that solved the stutter I was experiencing. Given that I could also see that stutter/hitch on the Twitter/X replay I THINK it should be viewable here on Rumble. However, there is a known issue with how the game is launched under Windows, and it's possible that fixing the GPU hooks/initialization for BumbleBee Configuration systems may also fix the stuttering I experienced.
The first bug was caused by trying to remap the Face Buttons on an Xbox controller. Again, there's a known issue with controllers on Steam in the Discord, but I didn't experience the specific issue noted on that Discord experience. Rather, what I ran into is that when I went to assign a new button for mapped A/B/X/Y function, the pre-existing button would fall to an unassigned state by the NEW button would not register.
I think this is tied to a preempt/priority in that the A/B face buttons are used to Cancel/Confirm, and the game does not necessarily appear to deactivate the Cancel/Confirm state during remapping. However, that's just guessing.

Falllout 4 - Quick(ish) base tour
As a setup to the PalWorld video I cracked open Fallout 4, forgot how to play it, but went and looked at some of the bases I had constructed.
There's a more complete walkthrough somewhere on YT, but due to shenanigans I'm am not sure of the availability of that particular video.

Palworld - Base building
So let's have a quick look at two mechanical issues with Palworld. The first is AI pathing issues through base barriers. AI visibly get hung up if a natural path to an in-base task goes through the base barrier.
The second issue is the lack of grid snapping on foundational blocks, which affects non-contiguous and contiguous construction.

Chaos Theory - From Carnage to MSI
What happened to streaming on Twitter? Why did the video uploads stop?
Why would vendors actually hiring developers to contribute directly to open-source platforms be an important aspect of a competitive advantage?
Let's swing wildly from one question to another.
