The Abyssinians & Friends - Tree of Satta vol. 1
The Abyssinians are a Jamaican roots reggae group, famous for their close harmonies and promotion of the Rastafari movement in their lyrics. The vocal trio was originally formed in 1968 by Bernard Collins and Donald Manning. Their first song was "Satta Massagana", which was strongly influenced by Carlton Manning's "Happy Land". "Satta Massagana" is a Rastafarian hymn sung partly in the Ethiopian Amharic language.
They recruited a third vocalist, who was still at school and often unable to attend rehearsals; he was soon replaced by Donald's brother Lynford Manning, who like Donald had previously been a member of their brother Carlton Manning's group Carlton and The Shoes.
In 1971, the group purchased the master tapes from Dodd for £90 and released it on their own Clinch label, the single becoming a massive success, prompting Dodd to release his own instrumental and deejay versions.
The original line-up reunited in 1998 and went on to record new material. The album "Abyssinians & Friends Tree of Satta vol. 1" was released in 2003.

Nirvana - Greatest hits
Nirvana was an American rock band formed in Aberdeen, Washington, in 1987. Founded by lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic, the band went through a succession of drummers, most notably Chad Channing, and then recruited Dave Grohl in 1990. Nirvana's success popularized alternative rock. Their music maintains a popular following and continues to influence modern rock culture.
Characterized by their punk aesthetic, Nirvana's fusion of pop melodies with noise, combined with their themes of abjection and social alienation, brought them global popularity.
The album "Greatest hits" was released in 2002. It includes songs from Nirvana's three studio albums and the live album MTV Unplugged in New York, plus the previously unreleased "You Know You're Right", recorded in 1994 during Nirvana's final studio session, a version of "Been a Son", previously only available on a UK limited release, and the Scott Litt remix of "Pennyroyal Tea".

Ten foot pole - Rev
Ten Foot Pole was founded in 1983 under the name Scared Straight. In the early 1990s, after releasing You Drink, You Drive, You Die (1988), Scared Straight changed their name to Ten Foot Pole.
One of the reasons for the name change was to move away from the "straight-edge" reputation that followed the band with a name like Scared Straight. In the beginning, Ten Foot Pole had a reputation of being a more aggressive, hardcore punk band that likes to party and have fun.
After the release of Rev and a split EP with Sweden's Satanic Surfers, Radinsky was forced to leave the band due to his professional baseball commitments and Ten Foot Pole's desire to be a full-time touring band. From then on Dennis Jagard took over lead vocals for the band.
The album "Rev" was released in 1994.

Ventania - Só para loucos
Wilson da Silva, better known as Ventania (Pariqüeraçu, 21 August 1962), is a singer and wanderer whose musical inspiration comes from the hippie movement of the 60s and 70s. Ventania currently lives in São Thomé das Letras, Minas Gerais.
One of the most important musical influences of Ventania is the singer and composer Raul Seixas, the "Raulzito", historical landmark of national rock and the mixture with "alternative" influences.
Ventania was born in Pariqüeraçu, state of São Paulo, on 21 August 1962. According to the singer, his career began at the age of eight, playing piano in church.
But later, around 1980, Ventania began singing and composing, officially hitting the road. His concert life, which for the time being was summarised only in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Paraná, was recent, and the performances precarious. Ventania's shows, at the time, were literally "only for the crazy".
To be Ventania is to be connected to simple things like receiving a name from an angel in childhood. Wilson da Silva, an illustrious visitor to São Thomé das Letras, was given the name Ventania.
Adopting the hippie garb of the 60s was what really modulated the musical and personality structures of Ventania, who left the routine life to become a nomad, travelling the country, hitchhiking at gas stations, composing, playing, singing and enjoying life, with cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms as inspiration for his songs.
Although he has not declared to the media his relationship with religion and his beliefs, Ventania claims to have started his career as a singer singing in the church, but we know perfectly well that it did not influence him, because Ventania composes lyrics that the church repudiates. An unavoidable subject to study Ventania's biography.
With the song "O Diabo é Careta", one of his biggest hits, Ventania tells the story of the devil who refuses a marijuana cigarette and says he is careta, a story that reveals a little about the musician: agnosticism/liberalism, which is the lack of beliefs or absence of them.
Completely indifferent to record labels, Ventania follows his steps independently. He began composing and singing his songs in the mid-1980s, and only achieved success through the internet, with the disc "Só Para Loucos" which was released in 2009 and is the name of one of the songs, which is still the most famous, but which, in fact, is a rock version originally by the band Black Zé.

The albums are linked in a way, because joining the booklet of the two forms a unique design, the opening song of Mezmerize is "Soldier Side - Intro" and the closing song of Hypnotize is "Soldier Side", thus making the link between them.

Tribo de Jah - Tributo à Bob Marley
Tribo de Jah is a reggae band from Brazil formed in 1986 at the Maranhão's capital city, São Luís is known as the Brazilian Jamaica, by Fauzi Beydoun, who in that time was a multinational CEO coming from Ivory Coast in África, that maintained a successful reggae program on a radio in town. It was in this school where the members met. Four band members are fully blind while the fifth has partial vision.
While buying equipment to form a band, Fauzi had a conversation with the leader of a band called "Banda Reflexo", whose musicians are still acquainted with him today. There, they worked as hired musicians, playing in São Luis and nearby cities parties, running a repertoire that held all the successful rhythms from that time, such as reggae, lambada, dance, serestas, meringues etc. As a peculiar feature, the band is formed by four visually impaired men who had met each other still young at Escola de Cegos do Maranhão and awake to music using school's old instruments (a music keyboard with missing piano keys, a guitar missing chords and the drummer used to use the writing desk to set the pace). Then, they agreed to follow together the project to form a reggae music band.
Contested by the cultural elite, but embraced by the masses, reggae music became one of the most relevant features of maranhense culture, where it was created a very singular way to listen and dance the rhythm, creating an aspect that is unique in the entire world. At that time, the "radiolas", or sound-systems, recognized in this manner in Jamaica, were responsible for spreading reggae music in the whole state, while different reggae clubs maintained the rhythm on top attending a great public frequency, even though reggae was still not played on radios.
In this situation, Tribo de Jah started to propagate its reggae roots, approaching social, political, spiritual subjects with love and peace messages. The band opened a market for reggae music in Brazil, playing in places where the Jamaican rhythm was never heard before attracting a legion of fans in the entire country.
The band was the pioneer introducing reggae theme in Brazil: terms like "Jah" (God), "Babylon", "Roots" (title of their first album), among others, were never been spread nationally until then, what made the culture to be known in large scale by fans and other bands.
The band's success out of the borders is due to Tribo de Jah sing in other tree languages besides Portuguese: French, Spanish and English.
The tribute to Bob Marley "À Bob Marley" was released in 2001.
