Dozens of people have been reported killed in an Israeli airstrike at Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza - which the IDF said killed a senior Hamas commander.
A spokesman accused Hamas, which the UK has designated a proscribed terrorist organisation, of deliberately building its infrastructure beneath peoples' homes.
According to the Hamas appointed Gaza Health Ministry, more than 8,500 Palestinians have now been killed.

Doctors in Gaza say they fear thousands could die because hospitals are running desperately low on generator fuel and basic supplies. Palestinians in the besieged Strip are struggling to find food, water, and safety, as they brace for a ground offensive.
Israel continues to urge Gazans to flee the north - giving them more time to take the main road south.
The Rafah Crossing - the only exit not controlled by Israel - remains shut as Egypt refuses to allow foreigners out until Israel agrees to let vital aid in.
The UN estimates that almost half of Gaza's population has left their homes - the number of people in Khan Younis has more than doubled. But even the south has been hit by Israeli air strikes, which Gaza's Health Ministry says have killed more than 2,450 people. Tensions have also escalated In the West Bank, with 55 Palestinians killed in the last week by Israeli troops and settlers.
More than 1,300 Israelis were killed in last weekend's attack by Hamas - which the UK has designated a terrorist group. Israel has closed the area along its border with Lebanon after a Hezbollah missile killed a civilian in an Israeli border village.

No power or fuel, no water coming out of the taps and food running dangerously low. The UN says the humanitarian situation in Gaza was already critical and is now "fast becoming untenable". All this as the Israeli military warns it will strike Gaza City "very soon".
Time is fast running out for the 1.1 million people in northern Gaza to comply with Israel's order to evacuate. Hundreds of thousands have fled south, despite Hamas urging them to stay put.
Earlier, Israel said it was giving them safe passage along the two main roads for six hours.
There were reports that Egypt and Israel would let foreigners leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing, but it remained shut amid wrangling over a deal to allow aid in.
The Palestinian health ministry says Israeli air strikes have killed 2,215 people in Gaza - almost a third of them children and 324 in just the last day.
And 55 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, in clashes with Israeli troops and attacks by settlers.
More than 1,300 Israelis were killed in last weekend's brutal attack by Hamas - which is designated a terrorist group by many countries.
Israel says it's confirmed that 126 civilians are being held hostage in Gaza.

The UN is accusing Israel of showing a "flagrant disregard for the lives of civilians" after it bombed a Gaza school where thousands were sheltering, killing at least six people.
It says no place is safe in the crowded Strip - which is rapidly running out of food, water, fuel and medical supplies to treat its 12 thousand wounded.
Four days ago Israel told Gazans to move south for their own safety. But today it bombed just outside the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah, where hundreds of thousands have taken shelter - killing dozens of people.

Day 10 update: Israel vows crushing victory as Gaza 'runs out of body bags'. Date: Oct 16, 2023
It's day 10 of Israel's war against Hamas, seven days since it imposed a total siege on Gaza, and the humanitarian situation there grows more desperate by the hour.
Hospitals are near breaking point. Food, water and fuel are running low. And the UN says there aren't enough body bags for the dead.
More than a million people have fled their homes - many heeding Israel's order to move south ahead of its ground offensive.
That's more than doubled the population of Khan Younis to a million. Israel says it's restored water at one location, and it's reported to have allowed in a small amount of fuel to power water pumping stations.
All eyes are on Egypt's Rafah Crossing - the only one not controlled by Israel. It remains shut, despite hopes of a deal to allow aid in and foreigners out.
Gaza's health ministry says 2,808 people have now been killed in airstrikes there, since 1,400 people were killed in Israel just over a week ago by Hamas - which many countries have designated a terrorist group.
Israel has updated the number of hostages Hamas is holding to 199. And it evacuated residents from 28 communities along its border with Lebanon, where Hezbollah and Hamas - both of which are backed by Iran - have exchanged missiles and artillery fire with Israeli forces.

Around 20 trucks carrying aid have managed to cross into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing from Egypt - which the UN said would be a mere drop in the ocean compared with the overwhelming need.
Food, medical supplies and water are running perilously short in the enclave - as Israel continued to launch airstrikes against Hamas, which is designated a terrorist organisation by the UK.
The UN chief has led calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire - describing the situation inside Gaza as a "god awful nightmare".

An Israeli army spokesman has announced that its land operations in Gaza are being expanded. Although it is not clear what expansion means and whether this is the long feared ground invasion.
Palestininans in the Gaza strip faced some of the heaviest air bombardment so far. The internet and phone connectivity have also gone dark, making communications nearly impossible and hampering aid and rescue efforts.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out any ceasefire in Gaza - declaring it was a "time for war... for our common future".
As the heavy bombardment continues, the Hamas appointed Gaza Health Ministry said more than 8,300 Palestinians have now been killed.
According to Palestinian witnesses - Israeli tanks reached the outskirts of Gaza City - entering the Zaytun district. Reports suggest the IDF took control of Salah al-Din Road, a major route linking the north and south.
To the north, intense fighting has been reported between Israeli forces and Hamas near the Mediterranean coast.
