I spent over 2 months traveling in Portugal this year. Staying on the southern half of the country, and mostly on the Atlantic coast, a few places stood out. Unfortunately drones are banned in the UAE and Dubai, but this allowed me to focus all of my photography efforts on my action cameras! The Insta360 X3 was the clear winner, especially in low light at night. I got some great footage with it of the Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Expo 2020, Sky Views Observatory and more after the sun went down. I took my new X3 to some beautiful ice-covered creeks and streams to test out the new Active HDR video mode. The 360 5.7K shots were rendered at 1440p. Winter has come early! It took some effort but there was some nice powder up high in the mountains. I took my new Insta360 X3 for a test and the footage looks good. On a road-trip across Canada I visited many places that I had never been before. One of the best surprises was Lake Superior and the surrounding area. The water was clear and great for swimming. There were many hikes in the area that reached waterfalls and rock features. I only scratched the surface of what is there in my 7 or 8 days. The best footage I gathered is in this video. I've been taking my drones up with me skiing for the past 5 winters. It might not be as easy as it looks! Horizon Leveling is a great feature for getting 3rd person kayaking shots with GoPro or Insta360 cameras. It's a challenge to mount a camera to a kayak safely, but with newer action cameras you can have the camera sitting at any angle and the horizon stays perfectly flat. No matter how much the kayak moves side to side or even upside down your shots stay level. Getting good quality shots is great for self-teaching and looks great in a video. Here's how to do it. I've had a few good days with the Max Lens now. I took it out hiking, skiing, and then put it on top of my drone. Definitely got some cool shots while trying to figure this lens out. Had good conditions to the start of February. Over 2 months into the season and I'm getting into mid-winter form. This is my first video combining the GoPro Hero 10 and DJI Air 2s; both new cameras for me. I might need a new laptop now too! Editing was quite a bit slower with the higher quality footage, but it looks much better I think. Finally upgraded my drone! I liked how this Air 2s looked from its release but was worried it wouldn't work with my Android phone. Well, it does and I got to shoot a nice sunset and mostly clear skies on my first 2 days with it. These are the best shots from that and my initial impressions of the quad. Tests of my new Ulanzi Video Light on New Years Eve. The village here had a bonfire and I stuck around afterwards to get some sample footage with my GoPro Hero 10. The GoPro 10 now shoots in 5.3K in up to 60 FPS (frames per second). That's a big upgrade on 4K video, but where can you use it? Most computers and video sites can only handle 4K. I shot all of this video in 5.3K, and then reframed it to 4K in post (aka the video editing process). Since 4K doesn't cover the full image, I can pan and zoom in the videos, despite the fact that the camera wasn't moving. I also shot some in 60 FPS and made them slow motion in post. I bought the new GoPro Hero 10 after my old one died in Mexico. Then, just when the new camera arrived, my Hero 7 came back to life. So I was able to make one of those comparison videos.
