Area Brazilians concerned over presidential election results
Some say the election was stolen, that there was no possible way Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won the presidential election with 50.9% of the vote. Others say that tensions have split families into camps, each side rarely broaching the subject of politics.

FARGO — Local Brazilians, just like their friends and relatives in their home country, are troubled by the Oct. 30 presidential election results, which have been called the “most divisive vote in Brazil’s history.”
Some say the election was stolen, that there was no possible way Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won the presidential election with 50.9% of the vote. Others say that tensions have split families into camps, each side rarely broaching the subject of politics.

For two days after Da Silva was declared Brazil’s next president, incumbent Jair Bolsonaro kept silent, which fueled theories that the far-right leader was planning a hostile takeover of the country. He later agreed that power would be peacefully transferred.
The election, which required two rounds of voting on Oct. 2 and Oct 30, was tight, with Da Silva, better known as Lula, winning by 1.8% against the former army captain Bolsonaro.
Since Brazil’s presidential election, truck drivers have blocked major roadways demanding military intervention. Protests clogged city streets in support of Bolsonaro. The current president spent months claiming that the Brazilian electoral system was vulnerable to fraud, according to international media outlets.
The tension and claims of voter fraud are not dissimilar to what happened in the U.S. following the 2020 presidential election, according to media outlets, and the aftershocks of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol that are still being felt today with an ongoing special U.S. House panel investigation .
Cris Calil, a local Brazilian, said she’s going back to Brazil later this week to join protests against what she believes was election fraud.Special to The Forum
Cris Calil, a local Brazilian, said she’s going back to Brazil later this week to join protests against what she believes was election fraud.
“It’s not possible he (Lula) won the election in the right way. It was a fraud. I am going to the streets to fight with everyone there. I am thankful for my friends doing this for me. We need to show that we don’t want this guy again,” Calil said.
Lula, a member of the Worker’s Party, was the 35th president of Brazil from 2003 until 2010. He is slated to be sworn in as the nation’s 39th president on Jan. 1, 2023.
In 2017, Lula was convicted on charges of money laundering and corruption and sentenced to more than nine years in prison. He spent 580 days in jail.
The Supreme Federal Court in 2021 nullified Lula’s convictions and his political rights were restored, allowing him to run for the nation’s top office again.
“He is a criminal, he just left the jail, and then our Supreme Court didn’t look at our Constitution,” Calil said.

Karina Odland said she became a U.S. citizen last month, and that she too wanted Bolsonaro to win, but doesn't doubt the election results.
“I was very sad after the results, because it was very close. The country is really divided, we can see,” Odland said. “It’s a good process that we have there. There are some people that say that there could be something wrong with the electronic system for voting, but it’s very effective."
Odland said she feels the political tension with her family in person, and online. “Sometimes discussions happen there and we have to say, ‘Hey, let’s stop this, we want peace within the family,'" she said.
"We have to respect everyone, even if it’s not the same opinion. As a family we love each other, we want to keep that,” Odland said.

Cesar Carvalho is a U.S. citizen living in south Fargo. He was returning back to Brazil for vacation on Monday, Nov. 7, when The Forum reached him. He too was upset about the election results.
Calling Lula a “dictator” and a “thief,” Carvalho said the former president should not have been allowed to run for office again. He talked about online censorship and corruption at the highest levels of the judicial system, adding he believes the election was fraudulent.
“We are expecting the Army or something to help us," Carvalho said. People are in the streets and the Army needs to stop that and ask for another election, he said.
Carvalho, Odland and Calil feel a similar tension within the U.S. on issues related to elections.
“I believe it’s wrong for democracy. If you prove that there was fraud in Brazil, it would have a domino effect right here in the U.S.,” Carvalho said.
Calil believed the same election failures occurred in the U.S. "There was no way that Biden won the election. I think he won because everyone voted by mail," she said.

“I am trusting in the military and we the people here and in Brazil," Calil said. "We have the most power. We have to fight for our freedom or our wishes to come true."
Odland said she noticed a real change in politics and the economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It’s totally different when I got here and now the country is divided," she said.

How to Do 8 Different Plyometric Exercises

What are plyometric exercises?
Plyometric exercises are powerful aerobic exercises used to increase your speed, endurance, and strength. They require you to exert your muscles to their maximum potential in short periods of time.
Also known as jump training, plyometric exercises are usually geared toward highly trained athletes or people in peak physical condition. However, they can also be used by people wishing to improve their fitness.
Plyometric exercises can cause stress to the tendons, ligaments, and lower-extremity joints, especially the knees and ankles. It’s important that you have the strength and fitness level necessary to do these exercises safely and effectively.
If you’re adding plyometric exercises to your workout routine, work up to them gradually. Slowly increase the duration, difficulty, and intensity of the exercises.
Leg exercises
There are many plyometric exercises for the legs, including:
Squat jumps
Stand with your feet slightly wider than your hips.
Lower your body to squat down.
Press up through your feet, engage your abdominals, and jump up explosively.
Lift your arms overhead as you jump.
Upon landing, lower yourself back down to the squatting position.
Do 2 to 3 sets of 10 repetitions.
Reverse lunge knee-ups
Start in a standing lunge with your left foot forward.
Place your right hand on the floor next to your front foot and extend your left arm straight back.
Explosively jump up to bring your right knee up as high as you can, lifting your left arm and dropping your right arm back and down.
Upon landing, move back into the starting lunge position.
Continue for 30 seconds.
Then do the opposite side.
Upper body exercises
You can also do plyometric exercises that target your upper body muscles. Here are a couple:
Burpees
From standing, bend your legs to come into a squat position.
Place your hands down on the floor as you jump your feet back into a plank position, keeping your spine straight.
Lower your chest to the floor for one push-up.
Jump your feet forward to the outside of your hands, coming into a squat.
Explosively jump up and lift your arms overhead.
Do 2 to 3 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions.
Clapping push-ups
Start in a plank position.
Do a regular push-up by lowering your body down toward the floor.
As you press up, push hard enough to lift your hands and body as high off the ground as possible.
Clap your hands together.
Return to the starting position.
Continue for 30 seconds.
Exercises for runners
The following two exercises improve speed in runners by targeting the hamstrings and gluteal muscles.
Box jumps
For this exercise, you’ll need a box or something to jump on that’s 12 to 36 inches high. To increase the intensity, you can do the exercise using one leg.
From standing, squat down to jump onto the box with both feet.
Lift your arms up as you jump to gain momentum.
Jump up and backward off the box, gently landing with bent knees.
Do 2 to 3 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions.
Stairway hops
Start at the bottom of a staircase.
Hop up the stairs on your right leg.
Walk back down.
Then do the opposite side.
Tuck jumps
This exercise improves your agility, strength, and stability. It’s useful in sports training for any activity that requires you to quickly change direction.
Stand with your knees slightly bent and your feet shoulder-width apart.
Bend your knees and then jump up as high as you can, bringing your knees up towards your chest.
Do 2 to 3 sets of 10 to 12 repetitions.
Lateral bounds
This exercise helps to increase your speed and jumping height. It’s useful for increasing power in soccer players.
Start in a squat position, balancing on your right leg.
Explosively jump as high and far to the left as possible.
Land on your left leg in a squat position.
Explosively jump as high and far to the right as possible.
Land back in the starting position.
Do 3 to 5 sets of 5 to 10 repetitions.

Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro has launched a challenge against his country’s recent election results that determined his loss to socialist rival Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
On Nov. 2, Bolsonaro admitted that the "election is over" in a move that appeared to many to signal his intent to begin a transition of power to Lula after the nation’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) ratified the results. However, on Wednesday, he changed his tune over concerns regarding some voting machines and blaming a software bug.
Much like former President Trump, who Bolsonaro openly admires, he has claimed that electronic voting machines are prone to fraud.
Following an audit of results by his coalition, Bolsonaro said his party found "signs of irreparable … malfunctions" in some machines. He has not provided any proof, even when ordered to do so by the electoral court.

His allies claimed they found "signs of serious failures that generate uncertainties and make it impossible to validate the results generated" in older models of the voting machines. They have yet to provide any evidence of these claims.

Lula won the election with 50.9% of the vote to Bolsonaro’s 49.1%, and the claim would affect some 280,000 voting machines, according to the BBC. The result would swing to 51.05% for Bolsonaro and 48.95% for Lula if the affected votes were invalidated.

The TSE told Bolsonaro’s coalition that they have 24 hours to present the audit for both rounds of voting, or the body will reject the party’s claims.

Gleisi Hoffmann, president of Lula’s party, called Bolsonaro’s complaint little more than "chicanery."
"No more procrastination, irresponsibility, insults to institutions and democracy," she wrote on Twitter. "The election was decided in the vote and Brazil needs peace to build a better future."

The Associated Press reported that the bug in question was not known of before. One expert, Wilson Ruggiero, a professor of computer engineering and digital systems at the Polytechnic School of the University of Sao Paulo told the agency that each voting machine can still be easily identified through other means, like its city and voting district.
President Biden and other international leaders have publicly recognized da Silva’s victory, as have some of Bolsonaro’s closest allies.

In addition to world recognition of Lula's victory cabinet members, governors-elect and evangelical leaders who have been strident supporters of Bolsonaro have already offered overtures to the incoming leftist government.

Brazil Was Stolen🩸🇧🇷 | Brazil: A Last Stand in the Americas (Documentary)
Brazil just went through historical elections, with profound implications not only for the country itself, but also for the United States, the Western Hemisphere, and a large part of the world. This two-part original documentary series by NTD Brazil and The Epoch Times investigates foreign interest in the Brazilian elections and Latin America’s new turn into hard leftism.
The series, described by former Foreign Minister of Brazil Ernesto Araújo as “fundamental” goes into rarely shared facts that can shed light not only on much of what is seen in Latin America and Brazil, its largest regional power—but also on phenomena directly related to American’s everyday life, organized crime in the United States and more.
This landmark production includes former officials and some of the world’s main experts on the subject

Brazil Was Stolen: Communist Judge Refuses to Examine Fraud, Wants to Fine Bolsonaro’s Party and Freeze Funds
November 24, 2022
Enthusiatic crowd welcomes President Bolsonaro at Planalto Presidential Palace Wednesday
Radical left-wing Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes wants to fine the Liberal Party (PL) allied with President Jair Bolsonaro $4.1 million, freeze its bank accounts and investigate the Party’s chairman after the PL presented its report into the massive electoral fraud in Brazil. The confrontation between the corrupt Supreme Court and the executive branch threatens to escalate.
The Liberal Party (PL) presented its report Tuesday, saying that the results of pre-2020 electonic voting machines are open to manipulation and could not be verified. Using only the results from the secure 2020 electronic voting machines, the PL found that President Jair Bolsonaro won 51,05% of the vote and Communist challenger Lula da Silva only 48,95%.

The Technical Report on the Malfunctioning of Electronic Ballot Boxes submitted by PL head Valdemar Costa Neto to the leftist Superior Electoral Court (TSE) points out “serious and irremediable” inconsistencies in the functioning of part of the electronic voting machines. “The only votes that can be considered valid, verifiable and auditable, in the second round of the 2022 election, are those resulting from the 2020 model ballot boxes,” argues the party, based on an audit by the Instituto Voto Legal (IVL).
“What we seek to demonstrate with this empirical result from the electronic voting machines of the 2020 model (uniformly distributed throughout the country by the Electoral Court itself), based on valid audit elements that attest to the authenticity of the electoral result with the necessary certainty — as mandated by the Superior Electoral Court itself — is that the valid and auditable votes of the Second Round of the 2022 electoral process attest to a result different from that announced by the Superior Electoral Court on 10/30/2022, conferring a percentage of 51.05 % of the vote to President Jair Bolsonaro,“ according to the PL.

Previous studies conducted by Argentine consultant Fernando Cerimedo and the legally required review by the Armed Forces have also found serious problems with the Brazilian electonic voting machines. The military report found evidence of “access to the network during the compilation of the source code“ that could represent “a major risk to the security of the process“. The report submitted by the Minister of Defense General Paulo Sergio Nogueira concluded that “it is not possible to affirm that the electronic voting system is free from the influence of malicious code that could alter its operation.“ General Nogueira asked for a “technical investigation to better understand what is happening in the system.”
The left-wing Superior Electoral Court run by corrupt Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes refused to produce the software run on the electonic voting machines, or permit any further investigation, and instead claimed that “the final report of the Ministry of Defense … did not point out the existence of any fraud or inconsistency in the electronic voting machines and in the electoral process of 2022.”

This false claim was then parroted by media throughout the world.
Bogus AP Fake News headline: “Brazil: Military does not detect irregularities”.
Instead, Alexandre de Moraes wants to have General Nogueira removed for “endangering the constitution.” On Wednesday 11/16, de Moraes sent a request to the Attorney General’s Office to remove the Minister of Defense, O Antagonista reports.
Now, corrupt judge Alexandre de Moraes has rejected the PL’s request for verification of the votimg machines and ordered the party to pay a fine of BRL 22.9 million (US$ 4.1 million). Moraes also ordered the freezing of party funds from Bolsonaro’s coalition “until the payment of the fine, as well as the initiation of an administrative procedure on ‘possible misuse of the party structure, including the Party Fund, in particular with regard to the conduct of Valdemar Costa Neto and Carlos Rocha’ — author of the study by Instituto Voto Legal”, O Antagonista reports.
YouTube has demonetized the Jovem Pan news channel for supposed “election disinformation”. Jovem Pan is “the only cable news TV not pushing far-left-only talking points, and last Tuesday beat all cable news as most watched nationwide,” according to Brazil News in English.

Area Brazilians concerned over presidential election results
Some say the election was stolen, that there was no possible way Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won the presidential election with 50.9% of the vote. Others say that tensions have split families into camps, each side rarely broaching the subject of politics.

#Shorts
#Legexercises
#Upperbodyexercises
#Exercisesforrunners

#Takeaway
