Spinning Flax Tow Roving pt 2 of 3
Spinning the flax tow roving I made from my flax fiber I grew on my property. I grew the flax and processed it into usable fiber. I took the tow (short fibers) from the hackling of the long fiber. The short fibers still make good thread.

Flax Tow Roving pt 1 of 3
This is a video of me making some flax tow roving for spinning into linen thread. I take the tow fiber and comb it out then take that on my comb and pull and twist a bit then pull and twist. The twisting action is to help hold it all together while spinning. I have made the roving thin so I don't have too much difficulty drafting it out for spinning some thin thread. Once I make the roving I spin it into thread.

Plying Flax Tow Linen Thread pt 3 of 3
In this video I ply the linen thread I made with the Flax Tow Roving. The plied thread is plied wet so to help twist in any long fuzzy bits on the thread to make the final 2ply smooth. This finished thread is suitable for the loom and if you are good suitable for knitting or crochet. Some people blend in cotton but the tow fibers I use here are still too long to blend with cotton. Cotton Flax blends are rather nice. Anyway this is the last of three videos.
