1997 MIM Stratocaster Rescue
Guitar restoration for a friend. Fourth video in the series.
In this video, I'm correcting a wiring mistake and putting a couple more strings on. Then I play a little five-string git. Gotta find a high E.

1997 MIM Stratocaster Rescue
I offered to refurbish this guitar for a friend of mine.
In this video, I'm just trying something from the internet: I'm using toothpaste to polish out fine scratches on the surface of the finish. Spoiler, it doesn't really do much.

1997 Stratocaster Rescue
This guitar belongs to a friend of mine. It has never been playable for as long as he has owned it. I offered to attempt to refurbish it.
This is the second video in the series.

1997 Stratocaster Rescue
Guitar restoration for a friend. This is the first video in series.
My friend pretty much "found" this guitar. It was in the basement of a home restoration he was working on, and the owner said, "Take anything you want!"
In this video, I'm mostly peeling stickers.

Tamiya Lockheed P-38H Lightning - 1:48 scale model
(Featuring authentic audio of two Allison V-1710 engines!)
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning is a single seated, piston-engine fighter aircraft used during World War II. Developed for the United States Army Air Corps, the P-38 had distinctive twin booms and a central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament. The P-38 was used in various aerial combat roles including as a highly effective fighter-bomber, a night fighter, and as a long-range escort fighter when equipped with drop tanks.
The P-38 Lightning was powered by two 1,600-hp Allison V-1710-111/113 liquid-cooled supercharged engines driving counter rotating, three-bladed, 9-foot Curtiss Electric propellers.
The P-38 was used most successfully in the Pacific Theater of Operations and the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations as the aircraft of America's top aces, Richard Bong (40 victories), Thomas McGuire (38 victories) and Charles H. MacDonald (27 victories). In the South West Pacific theater, the P-38 was the primary long-range fighter of United States Army Air Forces until the introduction of large numbers of P-51D Mustangs toward the end of the war.
This was an exceptional model kit and it was great joy to build. To see the entire build process in pictures - mistakes and all - visit the "Build Gallery" in the links below.

Academy Douglas SBD-2 Dauntless - 1:48 scale model
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was a naval scout plane and dive bomber that was manufactured by Douglas Aircraft from 1940 through 1944. The SBD ("Scout Bomber Douglas", but also known as "Slow But Deadly") was the United States Navy's main carrier-based scout/dive bomber from mid-1940 through mid-1944. The SBD is best remembered as the bomber that delivered the fatal blows to the Japanese carriers at the Battle of Midway in June 1942.
After a friendly fire incident aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, the insignia were directed to be as large as possible on all surfaces, but after the Battle of Coral Sea in early May of 1942, the colorful markings were recognized as needing to be changed. So, the red dot in the star and striped tail rudder were removed and the insignia size reduced.
This Academy kit #12335 is a re-release of kit #12296 for 2020.
This was a great build that presented several challenges, which I always welcome. Now it joins my last build on the shelf - The Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat and the Douglas SBD-2 Dauntless, both in the U.S. Navy's pre-May, 1942 livery.

System of a Down - Toxicity Drum Cover by Alex Beveridge
My son, home from school after months away, gets back on his drum kit and belts this out. I keep the kit mic'ed and ready roll, and when he started getting into it I put the camera on him.

Rush - YYZ Guitar Solo and Outro
Just screwing around... A fan of Rush since Permanent Waves. I learned a lot of Rush as a kid, and then they invent the internet and I found out I've been playing it wrong all my life. Old habits die hard, too, but here it is...
This was recorded, plugged straight into my interface, using Native Instruments Guitar Rig Pro 4. I have 5, but I swear, I think 4 sounds smoother. And the backing track is actually Geddy and Neil, sans Alex, which I found on YouTube.

ScaleModelTech.com
Just a website where I curate a collection of information on the model kits that I have built. There are both .jpg image sets and .pdf files of all the instructions sets, in the highest quality I can muster, including scans of the decal sheets and box cover art.
There are links to picture galleries that document the build process of kits I have completed. And of course, completed kits get their own picture galleries and sometimes videos.
