The Prusik Ridgeline - A Truckers Hitch Alternative For A Fast Setup
This is something I tried out recently and I do like the concept of it. I might use som #36 bankline to use for my prusiks, as it tends to work a little better, but the 550 cord does work alright.
Show & Tell - 2023 Woodsmans Winter Campout
Thank you to all who attended and I can't wait to do it again! All kinds of setups here including oilskin tarps, military pup tents, the Amok modular hammock, and even a debris shelter. I was very happy with the turnout, it was really great getting to talk to each other about camping and share some stories around the campfire.
Check back in for information on the next Woodsmans Campout!

Knots aren’t just for Boy Scouts #knots
Clove Hitch is a must know knot for sure. Lots of uses for it. This is how you tie a clove hitch ‘in-line’ basically meaning you are tying it without an end of the rope.

Coleman No Pressure? - Try The Check Valve
Got this stove used it’s dated March 1972 and it was not holding pressure in the tank. It would all escape through the pump knob.
So here after going through a little troubleshooting and trying some repairs I found that sticking a carb cleaner wire through the valve and that freed up whatever was causing the issue.
Excited to get this thing up and running and start putting some use on it so check back in with the channel for more!

Restoring Vintage Camper - 1960 Apache Scout Canvas Wall Tent/Camper
Knocking one thing off the list for this camper. There are a couple other things that might require a little welding that’s all for another day.
Also coming down the line soon I’ll be outfitting this whole thing which will be a lot of fun as well.
Thanks for watching everyone and check back in with the channel for more!

Coleman Gas Lanterns - Start Here - The King Of The Lantern
Here I go over some interesting facts about Coleman Lanterns, as well as changing mantles and lighting instructions.
I really am getting into these old coleman lanterens more and more lately. I hesitate to even call them 'old', because that may suggest they are outdated equipment, which is not accurate to even the slightest. I've been using mine around the house just to have a little extra light in an area and it really comes in handy. I'll also be taking this out the the campsite soon which I am really looking forward to.
This system that coleman came up with for running lanterns, stoves, and heaters is a really neat system and the fact that you have the ability to run everything on pump gas is just unbeatable versatility if you ask me.
There will be many more videos to come so check back in with the channel! I also have a video here about my coleman stove, which I have to do a little bit of maintenance on.
I appreciate your time!

Adirondack Tarp Setup HowTo - Like A PRO
Tentsmiths 9x9 Oilskin Tarp used in this video.
This is one of my favorite tarp tent setups. I’m a big fan of the three sides configurations generally. I always had a little trouble setting this up sometimes and figured there had to be an easier way to do this so here is my answer so far.

ONE KNOT Ridgeline
You need : 50’ (15m) of 550 or ‘Paracord’, and for any shelter it’s best to have at least 4 stakes on you. (More can be made in the field if needed)
This is what I came up with for the simplest way to tie a ridgeline and I don’t think this is just a beginner thing either sometimes simplicity is satisfying.
Understand the half hitch and how it is a building block of knots, I believe is the basis of a solid foundation for learning knots in the future.
This is a basic Harbor Freight tarp in this video, with some stakes I actually made at home from 1/4” steel rod, and just some regular old 550 cord.
I’ll be doing more advanced videos on ridglines and knot tying in the future so keep coming back!

Guide To Tying & Using The Bowline - The Rabbit & The Tree
The bowline is one of the must know knots. I have seen many ways to tie it and this is the way that I think is the easiest to remember. I have also found this to be the most practical way in my experience of using this not for work, and out in the woods camping and bushcrafting as well.
Keep coming back to check out the channel I am going to be doing many guides like this, and thank you for watching!

The Plow Point/Wedge Tarp Tent
This is the simplest tarp setup that I know of. It is also one of my favorites and provides very adequate protection from the elements. I am using my 9’x9’ Tentsmiths Oilskin Tarp for this setup. If you are starting out check out the DD Tarps 3x3 nylon tarp which has plenty of strong tie outs as well as a reinforced dented point.

Fixing Severed Wheel On The John Deere In the Mud & Snow
What a start to the week. Wheel feel out of the front hub on our John Deere 790. Great tractor just some front end issues. This is actually not the most complicated job, you just have to be willing to do it.
Also our bushcraft skills all come together when I put up my Tentsmiths Oilskin Tarp to have a nice area to work under. Who would’ve thought.

Emergency Warm Up w/ UCO Candle Lantern and Wool Blanket
I have been wanting to test this for awhile and I have to say I am very happy with the results!
Add one more thing to the list of why I LOVE my UCO Candle Lantern. I got up to 50 degrees in 5-6 minutes and I am telling you it really did feel nice.
Yes, do not stay under there for hours and breathe in fumes.
I tested this out with a twin size wool blanket because that is the most common size people have, and that is found in the surplus stores. If you are going to be relying on a wool blankeet for your sleep system, you will definitley want a queen size.

Solo Tarp Camping With Lightweight Tarp - DD3x3, Raised Bed
Well here we are again in the Charles C Deam Wilderness in Hoosier National Forest. We learned a valuable lesson in redundancy forgetting the hatchet but hey thats how it goes sometimes.
I also was getting some mileage on my lightweight (I won't say Ultralight setup that I am working on putting together for a trip on the Tecumseh Trail so we will see how that all comes together.
I used my DD 3x3 Tarp in this video, as well as an old external frame Kelty pack which, If you ask me there is just nothing that compares to an external frame pack when it comes to comfort.
I also learned a magic trick with the Mora (ha ha)
Thanks for watching and check back in!

$20 Amazon Bushcraft Hatchet
This hatchet is really cool I won't deny it. However after splitting a few pieces of firewood the head did work itself loose a little bit of course that can be fixed, but can definitely be dangerous if it is too bad.
As with pretty much any wood handled tool I have I strip it down and put the Boiled Linseed Oil finish as well.
Oh and also I asked the AI robot to tell me some jokes about hathcets... so the last minute of this video is really... something.
Thanks for stopping in everybody check back in soon!
