The Biden Administration has disrespected Christianity on one of the most sacred holidays in all of history, calling Easter or Resurrection Day, Trans Day of Visibility in honor of transgenderism. This should be no surprise to us since he has done it the past three years. By now, it is more than clear that the act is intentional. For Christians, it means we need to stand strong in our faith and refuse to celebrate what the culture is celebrating. Jesus is our Lord and King, and his resurrection has profound significance for us and for the world. The near sacrifice of Isaac stands as one of the most studied stories in the Bible because of its Messianic connections. Jesus as God in the flesh relived the entire scenario during his Passion, only he went the whole nine yards, offering himself up as the final sacrifice. But there is more to the story. Abraham had two sons, Isaac and Ishmael, but only one was by God's design. It is easy to dislike what happens to Ishmael and Hagar since they are essentially abandoned by their community, but Abraham's distrust of God had consequences. Nevertheless, since Ishmael was of Abraham's blood, he was still covered by the covenant promises. Abraham is important, but an even more important character emerges early in his entry into Canaan. Shortly after the battle of Valley of Siddim, he meets Melchizedek of Salem, king-priest of God Most High, the Creator of heaven and earth. Though only mentioned twice in the Old Testament, the king of God Most High becomes an important character to later Israelites and Jews since he is a link to a much deeper heritage. Yahweh was present in the land of Canaan even before Abraham, and he would reestablish dominance over his creation. Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden, and so was the serpent. He was cast out of the Garden and the heavens. Depravity followed on their heels, and a conflict was begun between those who were seeds of the serpent and those who were children of God. A battle that continues to this day. This conflict is witnessed in the Cain and Abel story. 10minute.church

So what really happened in the Garden? What went wrong? Pride and arrogance, that's what. The serpent chose himself over Yahweh and sought a world without Yahweh, with himself at the helm. The serpent is a muddy character in Genesis, but he gets more attention as the story of the Bible moves on. What is clear is that he is a supernatural being and that he is always moving in the background behind all the devious and vile things that take place. But what is often overlooked is that he wasn't always that way. He was special and he was meant for something greater, just as we all were prior to the Fall in the garden. The Ancient Near East had tons of stories of divine abodes, nearly all of them as palaces built in gardens that were placed upon the peaks of mountains, the closest points to the heavens. This video went about five minutes longer than ten minutes, folks. Apologies. It was necessary, though, because there are several layers to the divine hierarchy that need to be discussed. God made supernatural and natural imagers, as we have already learned. Here we find that the supernatural imagers, the spiritual sons of God, have been assigned many roles that are pertinent to the maintenance of the cosmos and the protection of the heavenly realm.
