It has become very clear to Matt as he pursued his dream of traveling that he should use his talents as a natural builder to create a home on wheels for us to travel. We have always found peace and clarity when we are most connected to the cycles and rhythms of Nature. And that is why Kristina, a residential structural engineer, left her career in 2010 and built a self-sustaining, off-grid home with her two sons. Like Matt's dream of traveling, Kristina's vision of creating this home for her family was crystal clear. This magical home is not only beautiful, whimsical, and fun, but it heats and cools itself, generates its power, collects and heats its household water, and manages its waste in an environmentally responsible way. Welcome to Off Grid in the City, Suburbs. Can we live comfortably in icy winter or hot summer conditions, are we prepared and ready? In 2003 peak summer many in Canada and US experienced blackout for 2-7 days, we had no power of 4days. Then 10years later in 2013 peak winter, icy rain hit Southern Ontario and many experienced blackout for 2-14days, we had no power for just over 3 days. Temperature dropped quickly, doors frozen shut, no cooking, no heating, unable to helped our aged neigbors. It was ridiculous how unprepared we were. Since then and without breaking the bank, we started this project. "Off the Grid in the suburbs" - it is really "Living off the Grid when the power goes down." This is a project my son and I worked on. We are Christians who love Yeshua and know we need to help each other.

LEARNING TO LIVE AFTER CHEMO I'm DC (David Charles) learning to live again, starting again after losing everything. In 2011, I was living in Japan, in a small town between Sendai, and the coast of Miyagi. On March 11th 2011 we were hit by a 9 plus Magnitude Earthquake, and Tsunami. After 9 months of scrounging for food and water, cleaning up, rebuilding and helping others. I visited my family in Australia for Christmas. While there I was diagnosed very high stage 4 Follicular Lymphoma, that has no cure, the best I could hope for is a remission. It is a relapsing type of cancer, that will return no matter what, and the more you treat it, the shorter the remission periods, and the stronger it gets. This left me homeless, my career and business gone, and in limbo, my wife in Japan had to leave it all behind to come and support me. After chemo and radiation, then 14months of more "maintenance" chemotherapy, and 2 years to the day of the first diagnoses I was diagnosed as very high stage 4 again! After going through more chemotherapy in a clinical trial that almost killed me, the cancer continued to grow, the tumor around my aorta grew faster than ever, so then I had to go in to a stem-cell transplant that almost killed me, and did briefly, I stopped breathing a number of time. I was bed ridden for 5.5 years total. Now I am trying to start a new life, and continuing the battle against this relapsing cancer, trying to find a permanent home for my family, and I am trying to help people manage theirs, and support them through their journey too. Any small donation is very much appreciated. Thank you all in advance, I hope I can deliver awareness, and help for those who are going through very tough times in life.
