RFK Murder: The Motive (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 38 w/ Author Mel Ayton)
Lori Spencer56 years ago this month, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was gunned down in a kitchen pantry of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. My ongoing investigative series on the RFK assassination continues on Episode 38 of "Strange Bedfellows" with tonight's guest, historian Mel Ayton (author of "Sirhan Sirhan: The Forgotten Terrorist") -- who will tell us what motivated Kennedy's killer. Researchers have spent the past 56 years bogged down in ballistics and bullet trajectories, all the while overlooking the most important aspect of the crime: motive. We are all guilty of focusing too much on the HOW, and not enough on the WHY. So, why did he do it? Sirhan told us why. Many times. Minutes after shooting Sen. Kennedy, Sirhan told arresting officers: "I can explain! I did it for my country! I love my country." After being convicted of Kennedy's murder, Sirhan told his jailer: “It’s not very many people my age who is considered a martyr by his people. Just think, I’ll go down in history as a martyr and will always be remembered, at least by my countrymen.” He told us, over and over again, why he killed Kennedy. He did it for his country; for Palestine. Sirhan envisioned himself as a revolutionary, committing a revolutionary act. And it's true that he did put the Palestinian liberation movement on the front pages of newspapers for the very first time. Assassinating RFK brought attention to the plight of Palestinians -- and that's exactly what Sirhan intended to do. In addition, Sirhan's anti-Zionism was the primary motivating emotion that drove him to target high-profile political leaders for assassination. More than a year before he shot RFK, Sirhan was already naming the pro-Israel politicians he wanted to kill in his notebook, starting at the top: President Lyndon Baines Johnson. (See this thread for more details.) https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1799558104834560147 Sirhan also wanted to murder U.N. Ambassador Arthur Goldberg. (More info on Sirhan';s notebook entries about killing Goldberg below) https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1799561907415711884 Even after he was locked up awaiting trial for killing RFK, Sirhan was wishing death upon Vice President Hubert Humphrey. (See this thread for more) https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1800377657546379541 After his arrest, Sirhan was asked if he felt any shame. "Hell no!" He said. Clearly, Sirhan had no remorse for what he did. He was quite proud of himself. While behind bars, Sirhan constantly asked for newspapers from the Arab world, eager to read what was being written about his "heroic act" by those who -- unlike Americans -- fully understood his motives. Indeed, Sirhan was hailed a hero in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, and back home in Palestine. Even the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al-Husseini instructed his fellow Arabs to give Sirhan all possible aid after his arrest. The Grand Mufti's call was answered by Arab lawyers who came to assist Sirhan, and Arab Americans who held fundraisers for his legal defense fund and provided financial support for the Sirhan family. In 1968, Sirhan's motives were lost on most Americans, who rationalized the assassination of Robert Kennedy as the senseless act of a madman. We, as a nation, did not yet understand the complexities or history of the Middle East conflict. This was before the era of Palestinian skyjackings, hostage-takings, the Munich Olympics massacre, terrorist attacks, and 9/11. In 2003, The Los Angeles Times wrote that Sirhan "fired the first shot in the War on Terror." Indeed, he did. Sirhan's name will be recorded in the history books as the first Palestinian terrorist to strike at the heart of America, on American soil. Tonight on Episode 38 of "Strange Bedfellows" British author and historian Mel Ayton will give us a sneak preview of his upcoming biography of Sirhan Bishara Sirhan (his second book about Sirhan). Ayton's previous book "The Forgotten Terrorist: Sirhan Sirhan and the Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy" is recommended reading for anyone seeking to understand Sirhan's Arab nationalism, his antisemitism, his past in Palestine, his deep-rooted hatred of Israel, and his motives for the crime. The 2019 edition features a Foreword by Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz. Mel Ayton says that Kennedy's son RFK Jr. (currently running for president as an Independent) is wrong about a conspiracy in his father's murder, and tonight he will explain why. Sirhan is as guilty as sin, Ayton argues -- and he makes a very compelling case. Don't miss this interview tonight at 9 PM Eastern on "Strange Bedfellows!" The Truth Teller: RFK Jr. (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 37 w/ author Jack Buckby)
Lori SpencerSaturday at 9 PM Eastern on “Strange Bedfellows,” we welcome British author Jack Buckby to talk about his new book The Truth Teller: #RFKJr and the Case for a Post-Partisan Presidency. Could #RFK Jr. overturn 230 years of American political history and become the first independent to mount a truly credible campaign for the presidency? Does the increasingly partisan and unpredictable nature of American politics provide an opportunity for the ultimate outsider to outrun the two-party system? In The Truth Teller, Jack Buckby explores the impact that #Kennedy’s candidacy could have on the Democratic party’s slide toward authoritarianism, his ability to connect with America’s youth, the common ground between #Trump voters and Democrats, the potential to make landslide victories common again, and the healing power of a candidate who refuses to alienate half of the country. In telling uncomfortable truths, Kennedy offers a radically moderate vision for America and a blueprint for bringing the country back from the brink of permanent decline. The Truth Teller offers a unique look at Kennedy’s campaign, describing how Kennedy’s radically moderate vision for America, his ability to bring together the left and the right, and his unique campaign style present an opportunity for America to normalize its politics and bring this divided country back together. GUEST BIO: Jack Buckby hails from Britain and now lives in New York City. His writing focuses on counter-extremism issues, current affairs, and politics. In his youth he was a member of a far-right white nationalist movement, the British National Party (BNP) but soon realized the error of his ways. He now devotes his efforts to de-radicalizing disaffected young people who are frustrated with politics, teaching them that extremism is not the way forward. The View From Jerusalem w/ Avi Abelow (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 36)
Lori SpencerEpisode 36 of "Strange Bedfellows" takes you to #Jerusalem, where we speak with Avi Abelow, movie producer and advocate for #Israel, the place he now calls home. Avi served in the Israel Defense Forces and has a unique perspective on the #Gaza war that we don't often hear in the Western media. Tonight's you'll hear what is really going on, beyond the headlines, with Israel and the Jewish people. Despite the demonization of Israel's war on social media, Avi says "we are the good guys!" This interview will challenge everything you know (or think you know) about the war. We will discuss the #IDF's invasion of #Rafah, the history behind the war, and why Avi says Israel has no choice but to fight until victory and smash #Hamas. He will also share his thoughts on the pro-#Palestine protests on American college campuses -- including his alma mater, #ColumbiaUniversity, as well as rising #antisemitism against #Jews around the world. ABOUT OUR GUEST: Avi Abelow is a proud Jew, born and raised in New York City. He is now "living the Jewish dream in the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people." He's the host of "The Pulse of Israel" podcast, and CEO of 12 Tribes Film Foundation. We are pleased to have Avi with us tonight, live from Jerusalem, to give you the true pulse of Israel. Fatal Error in Black America (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 35 w/ Kenneth Jefferson)
Lori SpencerJoin us tonight on “Strange Bedfellows” for an important conversation about what’s wrong in black America, and most importantly, how we as a country can heal that self-inflicted wound. Our guest is filmmaker Kenneth Jefferson, whose new documentary “Fatal Error” has been called “the most profound film on the internet” by Reelblack One. “Fatal Error” is a short documentary that focuses on a major cultural issue within the black community that many are aware of but have either ignored or have never truly thought about. This fatal error has led to the destruction of the black community from within. How? By glorifying “pimp and ho” culture, gang affiliation, violent role models, gangsta rap, drug use and trafficking, and a life of crime. Jefferson, director of “Fatal Error” believes that if this cultural issue is resolved, that it will trigger a mass awakening in the black community that will have major effects in the United States and the world as a whole. “Fatal Error” is the first part of a multitiered plan meant to influence a radical cultural shift that the filmmaker believes is on par with other ideological revolutions such as Martin Luther’s 95 Theses or The Enlightenment. Kenneth Jefferson is a middle school teacher and social activist who made “Fatal Error” as a labor of love, in hopes of saving Black America from itself — before it’s too late. College Campuses ERUPT in Protests! (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 34)
Lori SpencerAs students protesting the #Israel-#Hamas warat college campuses across U.S.dug in Saturday and vowed to keep their demonstrations going, some universities moved to shut down encampments after reports of antisemitic activity among the protesters. With the death toll mounting inthe war in #Gaza, protesters nationwide are demanding thatschools cut financial tiesto Israel and divest from companies they say are enabling the conflict. Some Jewish students say the #protests have veered into #antisemitism and made them afraid to set foot on campus. Early today police in riot gear cleared an encampment on the campus of Northeastern University in Boston while several dozen students shouted and booed at them from a distance. Massachusetts State Police said about 102 protesters who refused to disperse were arrested and will be charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. The school said in a statement that the demonstration, which began two days ago, had become “infiltrated by professional organizers” with no affiliation to the school and antisemitic slurs, including “kill the #Jews,” had been used. “We cannot tolerate this kind of hate on our campus,” the statement posted on the social media platform X said. The University of Pennsylvania took similar action Friday when interim President J. Larry Jameson called for an encampment of protesters on the west Philadelphia campus to be disbanded, saying it violates the university’s facilities policies, though about 40 tents remained in place Saturday morning. The “harassing and intimidating comments and actions” by some protesters violate the school’s open expression guidelines as well as state and federal law, Jameson said, and vandalism of a statue with antisemitic graffiti was “especially reprehensible and will be investigated as a hate crime.” At Columbia University, where protesters haveinspired pro-#Palestine demonstrationsacross the country, negotiations continued with the student encampment. The university’s senate passed a resolution Friday that created a task force to examine the administration’s leadership, which last week called in police in an attempt to clear the protest, resulting in scuffles and more than 100 arrests. Though the university has repeatedly set and then pushed back deadlines for the removal of the encampment, the school sent an email to students Friday night saying that bringing back police “at this time” would be counterproductive. Also Friday, Columbia student protester Khymani James walked back comments made in an online video in January that recently received new attention. James said in the video that “#Zionists don’t deserve to live” and people "should be grateful" James wasn’t killing them. James, who served as a spokesperson for the pro-Palestinian encampment as a member of Columbia University Apartheid Divest, was banned from campus Friday, according to a Columbia spokesperson. Protest organizers said James’ comments didn’t reflect their values. They declined to describe James’ level of involvement with the demonstration. But the tensions pile pressure on school officials, who are already scrambling to resolve the protests as Maygraduation ceremoniesnear. California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, gave protesters who have barricaded themselves inside a building since Monday until 5 p.m. Friday to leave and “not be immediately arrested.” The deadline came and went. Only some of the protesters left; others doubled down. After protesters rebuffed police earlier in the week, the campus was closed for the rest of the semester. In Colorado, police swept through an encampment Friday at Denver’s Auraria Campus, which hosts three universities and colleges, arresting about 40 protesters on trespassing charges. In France, students at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, which counts President Emmanuel Macron among its many famous alumni, studentsblocked access to a campus buildingand classes went online as the wave of protests reached overseas. Tonight on "Strange Bedfellows" we welcome back Na'omi Allen in South Africa, history blogger and proud Zionist, who argues that Israel's war against Hamas is justified and that the protests erupting at college campuses worldwide are celebrations of antisemitism. Last time Na'omi was with us on Episode 28, she predicted that "a second #Holocaust" is coming, and that "it will start in New York City." Currently #NYC has four large anti-Israel campus protests in full swing -- more than any other city in the United States. Na'omi will explain why she thinks this is a dangerous trend. Also joining us is Kevin Michelizzi, our Maverick News correspondent in #Crimea, #Russia, to discuss the "other war" in his neck of the woods, and the $60 billion aid package passed by the U.S. Congress this week, and how this influx of money and weapons will affect the ongoing war in #Ukraine. Tonight's international panel will include four countries (possibly five, depending on whether you view Crimea as Russia or Ukraine!): Rick Walker in Canada Lori Spencer in the United States Kevin Michelizzi in Crimea Na'omi Allen in South Africa A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on "Strange Bedfellows." Russell "Texas" Bentley: Dead or Alive? (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 33)
Lori SpencerMy friend and fellow Austinite Russell "Texas" Bentley has been missing since April 8. Despite rumors and speculation about his mysterious disappearance, Russell's fate is still a mystery. On the day he went missing, Russell and his wife Lyudmila had been in line at a local government building in #Donetsk to deal with some administrative documents, when he went to go help civilians injured in a nearby attack by Ukrainian forces. But when his wife went looking for him she only found his car, with his baseball cap, glasses, and his phone, which was shattered. On April 16th his wife wrote on Russell's Telegram account that she had received "reliable and confirmed ironclad information" that her husband was kidnapped "and continues to be illegally detained by the tankers of the 5th Brigade of the Russian Federation Armed Forces." She pleaded with Russell's friends and supporters to appeal urgently to the governments of the Donetsk People's Republic and #Russia, the FSB, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs, to help her locate her husband, adding "perhaps, there is not much time." His wife posted again on Thursday, April 18th: "Today is the 10th day since Russell disappeared. To this day, I do not know his whereabouts,” she said. On Friday, reports began to emerge that seemingly confirmed our worst fears. Sputnik, who employed Russell as a war correspondent, released a statement written by Margarita Simonyan, the head of Russia Today TV, stating that Russell (call sign "Texas") was dead. Russell's former combat unit, the Vostok battalion, and a local official in #Donetsk also confirmed his death yesterday, adding that their information came from Russell's wife. The U.S. State Department has not confirmed this information, however. In a statement Friday, a spokesperson said: “We are aware of reports of a U.S. citizen missing in the Donetsk region in #Ukraine. Our ability to verify reports of incidents regarding U.S. citizens in Ukraine is extremely limited." The mystery deepened when Russell's wife and some of his friends spoke out today, saying that they could not -- and would not -- confirm that he was in fact deceased. Our Maverick News correspondent in #Crimea, Kevin Michelizzi, is a personal friend of the Bentleys and told us this morning he was furious about the premature reports of Russell's demise, adding that most of what we've been told is #FakeNews. This afternoon Russell's wife Lyudmila posted on Russell's official Telegram channel that "I have not seen him alive, nor his body, nor his remains. That's a fact. And yes, there is some insider information that is very not good." She thanked "the Wagner group guys for finding out what happened, how that happened, who they were, how many of them there were and their motive..." "I still hope for real operational professionalism and decency from all involved agencies," she said. Since leaving his #Austin, #Texas home ten years ago to volunteer for the Russian armed forces against what he called "the #Nazis in Ukraine," Russell was willing to lay down his life for a cause he believed in: the struggle against #fascism. Even though Russell had aged out of the armed forces a few years ago, he was still not afraid to put himself in dangerous situations; often running directly towards active combat zones to cover battles as a journalist, or to provide first aid to civilians injured by the constant shelling in Donetsk -- as he did in the moments before his mysterious disappearance on April 8. In an interview exactly one month before he vanished, Russell told journalist Patrick Henningsen on TNT Radio that Donetsk was swiftly becoming a hotzone of combat activity once again as NATO soldiers were infiltrating the area -- which may provide some clues as to his violent kidnapping and perhaps, his murder. At this point, it is probably safe to say we won't be seeing our friend "the #Donbass Cowboy" again. Who killed Russell Bentley? Was it the Ukrainians, who had his name on their infamous kill list? Was it the #DPR, who reportedly suspected him of being a #NATO spy? Was it Pro-Ukrainian Russian "Werewolves" who had a personal score to settle? Or perhaps a shadowy NATO special forces unit who black-bagged him? We may never know. All we do know for sure is that Russell "Texas" Bentley's life -- and his ultimate sacrifice -- was not in vain. Those of us who knew and loved him will miss his war stories, his guitar picking, his wry wit, and his encyclopedic knowledge of history. Although Russell and I were on opposite sides of the political spectrum (I'm a #libertarian; he was a #communist), we shared much in common: a deep love for our native Texas, our musical tastes, our #cannabis activism, and our mutual hatred of fascism. Tonight, Episode 33 of "Strange Bedfellows" is a tribute to my friend Russell. As today is 4/20, the annual #marijuana holiday, I couldn't think of a more appropriate time to bring you some selected highlights from my last interview with Russell on July 14, 2023. Here, he tells his fascinating life story, in his own words. If you never had the pleasure of getting to know Russell "Texas" Bentley, maybe tonight's show will make you wish you had. And if you did know "Tejas," this incredible conversation will serve as a remembrance of the beautiful human being we have apparently lost to the horrors of war. Who Killed RFK? Guest: Jim DiEugenio (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 32)
Lori SpencerJust after midnight on June 5, 1968, Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on the campaign trail in Los Angeles, minutes after winning the California presidential primary. The shooter apprehended at the scene was 24 year-old Sirhan Sirhan, a Palestinian immigrant, who was heard to exclaim: "I can explain! I did it for my country!" Sirhan confessed to the crime and said he was angry at Sen. #Kennedy over his support for #Israel. The date Sirhan selected for kill #RFK was the one-year anniversary of the 1967 Six-Day War. In 1989, Sirhan told British journalistDavid Frost: "My only connection with Robert Kennedy was his sole support of Israel and his deliberate attempt to send those 50 fighter jets to Israel to obviously do harm to the Palestinians." Some scholars believe that the assassination was the first major incident of political violence in theUnited Statesstemming from theIsraeli–Palestinian conflict. Sirhan Bishara Sirhan is still regarded as a hero of the Palestinian Liberation Movement, who have demanded his release several times during a number of hijackings and kidnappings over the past five-and-a-half decades - including a 1972 incident when the Popular Front for the Liberation of #Palestine hijacked a Lufthansa flight with #RFK's son Joseph Kennedy onboard. That incredible story is told in this thread: https://twitter.com/RealLoriSpencer/status/1754096340697489719?s=20 Sirhan Sirhan turned 80 years old this month -- and is still hoping for parole. He has been denied 17 times, most recently in 2023. If his efforts succeed, Sirhan will be immediately deported back to Palestine or Jordan because he is not an American citizen. 55 years ago, the murder trial of Sirhan Sirhan was ongoing in a Los Angeles courtroom. The trial began in January, 1969 and continued for four months. The jury convicted him of first-degree murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder -- one count for each of the five other innocent bystanders Sirhan shot. At the time of Sirhan's conviction, most Americans believed without question that Sirhan acted alone; after all, he was seen by 77 witnesses firing a gun at #RFK in the Ambassador Hotel pantry, he confessed to the crime, and was convicted by a jury. It wasn't until 6 years later that questions of a possible conspiracy began to arise. In 1974, Kennedy campaign labor organizer Paul Schrade, along with former U.S. Congressman Allard Lowenstein, CBS News, and former Los Angeles prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi filed a personal injury civil lawsuit against Sirhan and 50 other "John Does" with the ultimate goal of compelling the Los Angeles Police Department and Sirhan to provide new or withheld evidence in the original trial. From that point forward, a thousand RFK assassination conspiracy theories were born, and over the past half-century the voices who call for a reopening the case grow louder. The "Free Sirhan" movement includes none other than 2024 Independent presidential candidate #RFKJr, who wants answers in his father's murder. Kennedy visited Sirhan in prison and wrote letters to the California Parole Board recommending his release. The Kennedy family is split on the issue of Sirhan's release. RFK Jr. is joined by only one of his other siblings in calling for Sirhan's parole; all of their siblings and mother Ethel want Sirhan to die in prison. Tonight on "Strange Bedfellows" we are pleased to welcome back Kennedy assassination historian James DiEugenio, who has written numerous books and articles on the #JFK and RFK assassinations over the past three decades. His latest book is "The JFK Assassination Chokeholds That Prove There Was A #Conspiracy." Jim also wrote the screenplay and accompanying book for Oliver Stone's epic new documentary series "JFK Revisited: Through The Looking Glass" and is the editor-in-chief of KennedysAndKing.com -- an invaluable resource for information on the murders of President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King. We will take a deep dive into the evidence presented at Sirhan's trial 55 years ago for both the prosecution and the defense, as well as new information that has come forward in the years since. Jim DiEugenio will explain why he believes Sirhan's gun could not have killed RFK, and present a compelling case for conspiracy. A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed on "Strange Bedfellows." Join us live tonight from 9-11 P.M. Eastern on all of our Maverick News Network channels. Candace Owens FIRED! Guest: Rabbi Michael Barclay (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 31)
Lori SpencerA growing number of American and Israeli #Jews feel backstabbed by President #Biden's administration for failing to support our longtime ally in her time of need. As #Israel's war against #Hamas nears its 6th month, the #Democrats seem to be losing their nerve (and votes in key swing states like Michigan and Minnesota). Even though over 80% of Americans support Israel, Biden now says he wants to reward the terrorist-run government of #Gaza with statehood. That sounds pretty insane to most Americans (and indeed, most thinking people around the world). But wait! There's more. Things get weirder still. Last week Sen. Charles Schumer called for a new government and immediate elections in Israel to boot Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu from power. Although Schumer used the carefully-chosen words "course correction," what he meant was "regime change." Tonight on "Strange Bedfellows" we will unpack the U.S. plan for a two-state solution, and if Biden's betrayal of Israel will backfire in the November presidential election. Will pro-Israel Democrats abandon Biden and vote for reliably pro-Israel candidates like #Trump or #RFKJr? Our guest tonight is a leading American conservative Rabbi, Michael Barclay, founder of Temple Ner Simcha in Westlake Village, California. Rabbi Barclay made waves this week when he appeared on the Candace Owens show for a discussion on rising #antisemitism. The fallout from that viral interview led to Rabbi Barclay getting a flood of hate mail and death threats. His synagogue had to beef up security and seek protection from local law enforcement and the FBI. #CandaceOwens, meanwhile, counter-claimed that she was also getting threats from Jews after her interview with Rabbi Barclay. This controversy was the straw that finally broke the camel's back, and Owens was fired by the Daily Wire on Friday, following months of tension with her employer, Ben Shapiro. Tonight we will hear Rabbi Barclay's side of the story, and a whole lot more. GUEST BIO: The descendant of Ukrainian rabbis from Chernigov, Rabbi Barclay was both the Hillel Director and a professor in the School of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has lectured around the world on cross-cultural mysticism and meditation. Rabbi Barclay was also the recipient of the 2010 B’nai Zion Distinguished Humanitarian Award. Rabbi Barclay is an author and frequent Torah commentator for The Jewish Journal as well as contributor for multiple periodicals including The Jewish Forward, The Jewish Times, The Acorn, and PJ Media. In 2013, Rabbi Barclay founded Temple Ner Simcha, the first non-Orthodox synagogue in the nation with no membership dues. The full service synagogue subsists entirely on donations and grants. Ner Simcha is inclusive and non-denominational, using conservative prayer books; but, the liturgy is often prayed in English. The temple was also the only synagogue in California that never closed and never restricted live attendance during the Covid pandemic. Join us LIVE tonight at 9 P.M . RFK's VP Pick Rumors are FAKE NEWS! Guest: Billy Dees (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 30)
Lori Spencer2024 Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will announce his running mate in Oakland, California on March 26, his campaign said Wednesday. #RFKJr’s alleged short list of possible running mates was published in the New York Times this week. The short list of about 10 names reportedly included controversial #NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, “Dirty Jobs” producer Mike Rowe, Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown and former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura. There’s only one problem with the short list published by the Times: Mr. Kennedy’s actual pick wasn’t on it! The controversy turned out to be completely #FakeNews. We will separate fact from fiction tonight at 9 P.M. Eastern on “Strange Bedfellows.” On Episode 30, we welcome as our guest Billy Dees, whose podcast I appeared on this week. We had a delightful but all-too-brief conversation about the #Kennedy24 campaign, which he’s covered extensively on previous episodes of his program. Seems like a 30 minute chat with Dees barely scratched the surface, so I wanted to bring him on “Strange Bedfellows” where we have a full two hours to really take a deep dive into the #RFK VP rumors, possible running mates for Mr. Kennedy, and discuss how the legacy media sent a lie halfway around the world before the truth could get its pants on. ABOUT OUR GUEST: Billy Dees is a native of Ohio and has spent his professional lifetime in audio, video, and media production. More recently, Bill has turned his attention to digital media and incorporated much of his traditional media experience into digital media production. He enjoys working as a freelance audio/video editor and producer, voice-over artist, and podcaster. Bill also works in the marketing department of a large nonprofit company as a multimedia specialist and is passionate about the agency’s mission to help the community. Bill is probably best known online from his podcast, the Billy Dees Podcast. The podcast has a wide spectrum of guests and includes political commentary. You can find the podcast on your favorite podcasting platform and follow Bill on X (Twitter) @BillyDees. On “Strange Bedfellows” we host interesting people from all sides of the political spectrum to find common ground across the partisan divide. A fascinating conversation is always guaranteed. Join us live tonight from 9-11 P.M. on all of our Maverick News Network channels! Israel: The Most Moral Army in the World? (Strange Bedfellows, Ep. 29 w/ Arkady Itkin)
Lori SpencerTonight on Episode 29 of "Strange Bedfellows" we welcome back Arkady Itkin, former #IDF soldier and attorney to make the case for #Israel in prosecuting the war on #Hamas. On Episode 28, our guest Na'omi Allen in South Africa discussed her country's case at the International Court Of Justice for #genocide against Israel. Israelrespondedto the court that it was one of the first states to ratify the Genocide Convention and for Israel, the promise of “Never Again” is “the highest moral obligation.” Israel’s position is that Hamas is responsible for the situation in #Gaza and it accused South Africa of an “attempt to weaponize the term genocide.” Genocide “stands alone amongst the violations of international law as the epitome and zenith of evil. It has been described correctly as the ‘crime of crimes,’ the ultimate in wickedness,” professor and U.K. lawyer Malcolm Shaw argued on behalf of Israel. Shaw said that Israel has the “most moral army in the world” and “does everything to avoid harming the uninvolved.” Israelclaimed that while Hamas’s strategy is to “maximize civilian harm to both Israelis and Palestinians,” Israel “seeks to minimize” civilian harm. Tal Becker, a legal adviser for Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the court that Hamas has “a practice of stealing and hoarding aid.” But Becker claimed there are “extensive Israeli efforts to mitigate civilian harm” and “humanitarian initiatives being undertaken to enable the flow of supplies and provide medical attention to the wounded.” Becker maintained that “Israel is in a war of defense against Hamas — not against the people of #Palestine.” Shaw asserted that “Israel has the right to defend itself in line with humanitarian law,” citing the inherent right to self-defense in the UN Charter and customary international law. This week on "Strange Bedfellows," we will tap into Arkady Itkin's experience and expertise as an IDF soldier to find out if those claims are actually true. Arkady Itkin was born in #Russia, grew up in #Israel, and currently lives in San Francisco, California, where he is a civil litigation attorney.
