The 1923 Berkeley Fire was a devastating wildfire that occurred on September 17, 1923, in the hills above the University of California, Berkeley. The fire destroyed over 640 structures and burned approximately 2,500 acres of land. The fire started in the early afternoon when a group of university students were clearing brush in order to create a firebreak around a nearby campus building. A spark from their equipment ignited the dry grass, and the fire quickly spread out of control due to high winds and dry conditions. Efforts to fight the fire were hindered by a lack of firefighting equipment and personnel, as well as a shortage of water in the area. The fire continued to spread throughout the day and night, jumping from treetop to treetop and engulfing homes, churches, and other buildings in its path. Many people were forced to flee their homes and evacuate the area, while others stayed behind to fight the fire or protect their property. The fire was finally brought under control on September 19, after several days of intense firefighting efforts. The Berkeley Fire of 1923 was one of the worst wildfires in California's history up to that point, and it resulted in the deaths of six people. The disaster led to changes in building codes and fire prevention practices in the area, and it also spurred the creation of the East Bay Regional Park District, which helps to prevent wildfires in the hills today.

Yuri Bezmenov (1939-1993) was a former Soviet KGB agent who defected to the West in 1970. After his defection, he became an expert on Soviet propaganda and subversion tactics and became known for his interviews and lectures in which he warned about the dangers of Soviet influence and subversion in Western countries. Bezmenov claimed that the KGB had a long-term strategy to infiltrate and subvert Western democracies through a process of ideological subversion, which involved four stages: (1) demoralization, (2) destabilization, (3) crisis, and (4) normalization. He argued that this process could take up to 15-20 years and could be carried out through various means, including propaganda, media manipulation, and disinformation. The Club is so exclusive that at one point the waiting list for membership was reportedly 33 years long!

A Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. The ideal of a democracy is universal equality, the ideal of a constitutional Republic is individual liberty. A democracy always degenerates into dictatorship, which promises government guaranteed equality and security, but it delivers nothing but poverty and serfdom. To the people at robs and rules, America was founded as a constitutional Republic to safeguard the liberties of the people against the tyranny of democracy or of one man dictatorship. In this century, great strides have been made toward the goal of subverting our Republic into a democracy. The foremost tactic of the subverters is subversion of language. By calling America a democracy until people thoughtlessly accept and use the term, the totalitarians have obscured the real meaning of our principles of government. That is a summary of my report on a constitutional Republic, not a democracy.
