This isn’t your typical sausage dish [sausage & onions in beer]
Sausage & peppers is one of my favorite things to eat… but I wanted to mix things up a bit (and, unfortunately, my peppers kicked the bucket—unbeknownst to me, as you’ll see in today’s video). Cooking with alcohol always adds a really cool twist, so we’re trying out this recipe that calls for a bottle (or can) of beer. As you can see, I went with a Sam Adams winter flavor--I’m not into light beers, but I also don’t like anything that’s too dark or too bitter. This beer is great as a drink, so I figured it’d be perfect to cook with, too!

I tried the Internet’s most controversial bread recipe [homemade sandwich rolls from scratch]
This homemade sandwich roll recipe has brad-making people all over the Internet up in arms! While the ingredient list is pretty simple—yeast, water, salt, and bread flour—this recipe is a great reminder of just how much technique, cooking time, humidity level, and the Bread Gods’ opinions of you really matter. You don’t need a bread machine for this, fortunately, but I strongly recommend watching the video all the way through before you decide to brave it on your own. One last thing: whether you choose to embark on this journey or you decline the challenge, you have my (emotional) support.

I tried to get fancy and this is what happened. [creamy butternut squash pasta recipe]
This creamy butternut squash pasta dish is bright, flavorful, and polarizing. While the original recipe I found is supposed to be vegan, I chose to march to the beat of my own drum and go another route. You can follow in my footsteps, or miss out on protein: the choice is yours. I will say, the chicken breast came out surprisingly good, considering how little I did to it. And I would eat this again, though I'm not naive enough to attempt to make it on a Monday night ever again (or any other weeknight, for that matter).
Here's the recipe I (sort of) followed: https://gatheringdreams.com/butternut-squash-pasta-with-sage/
If you decide to make it, please let me know what you think!

You had me at "explosion" [Starbucks copycat recipe]
This lemon blueberry explosion loaf is kind of like a pound cake with extra pizzazz. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of sweetness, and the icing really made it special! I’m thinking I may have to recreate this one for our Christmas celebration—that is just how good it is! And I think it speaks volumes that Billy gave this a positive review, considering how he barely even *likes* blueberries. That’s one hell of a cake!

Everyday Thai Peanut Chicken
This baked Thai peanut chicken is SO GOOD and SO EASY TO MAKE! I’m using chicken thighs per the recipe, but I don’t see why you couldn’t use breasts, if that’s more your style. The sauce is AMAZING and it goes really well with rice. Not gonna lie— I wish I’d made a larger batch.

THIS is what Christmas tastes like.
You NEED to makes these cookies for Christmas! Here's the recipe:
Chewy Ginger Cream Cookies
Hands-on time: 45 minutes
Total time: 2 hours 45 minutes
Makes about 4 dozen
What You Need
¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
¼ cup molasses (light or dark)
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
Extra granulated sugar for rolling
What You Do
Beat butter, 1 cup sugar, egg, and molasses in large bowl until creamy. Mix in flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt until blended. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Heat oven to 350°F. Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar to coat. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes until bottoms are lightly browned. Let cool 2 minutes; remove to cooling racks.
Note: Cookies are allegedly delicious with a powdered sugar glaze. Omit rolling the dough in sugar if you choose to go this route.
