This was last nights emergency - a very sick pet cat thrown away just for being sick. I found him sitting aimlessly at one of the usual dumping places. He looked bewildered and confused. It was obvious straight away that he was very sick. There is no longer any 24 hour vet availability in this area - so we had to give him subcutaneous fluid drip until we could get him to the vet this morning. He was then put on iv drip and had oxygen for a while. He has Calici virus with secondary bacterial infection. He also has blood parasites. He will staying in the clinic tonight and we are hoping he will pull through. He has a lovely nature and seemed to know that we were trying to help him last night - he was trying to purr and trill even while having difficulty breathing. Thanks to Our Vet, Klaten who helped us out with transport for him this morning - we are really under pressure at the moment and providing transport for him was an immense help to us. Even rabbits aren't safe now. I actually found a rabbit that had been thrown away. It looked like a bad scabies infection sealed his fate - but it turns out that this poor animal has been neglected badly for much longer. After treatment, some TLC, food and a CLEAN CAGE - he is already starting to sit up properly and is now starting to groom himself. Thanks to those wonderful people who help us with donations. In the story of us with these little guys - one chapter has come to an end - while others have opened. The little guy we rescued about 10 days ago from someone's doorstep didn't make it. Chronic round worm infection and diarrhea took its toll despite everything done for him. Mercifully in the end, he just slipped away quietly and peacefully, I couldn't even tell the exact point when he stopped breathing. There is not much to show for a little life like this - but he has left an indelible mark on us. For a while she was a friend for our "disabled" little 2 month old Mick. I say "disabled" because even his lower front paws are working properly now. He has practically made a full recovery now and is becoming a very mischievous and playful little guy with his new friend! For a people who claim to be Muslim - but defiantly disobey the prohibition of even interfering with ANY nursing animal (even farmed livestock!) or nesting bird - the end will be deservedly BLEAK: Umar bin Al Khatab RA, the second Caliph of Islam said about the Day of Judgement: "that one who does not forgive, will not be forgiven; and the one who does not show mercy will receive none." The same people rant and rail non-stop about issues faraway beyond their reach - while they themselves cannot show mercy to a tiny kitten in THEIR OWN BACKYARD. An insight into the kitten and cat rescue work we do, from the conditions and situations in which we find these defenseless and vulnerable animals to their rehabilitation and future lives. Just some of the work we do. Also showing the situation of older cats who are abandoned just because they are sick, pregnant or old. There is very little sense of a mutually beneficial dynamic in pet ownership here - loyalty does not flow both ways! This is especially demonstrated when a female cat has the cheek and audacity to get herself pregnant (as if she should know better) and finds herself thrown out on her backside with the kittens - or just the kittens taken off her and thrown away. We are now entirely dependent on online donations for the entirety of our work. We get no online help from Indonesians. We also get very little help from my own country Ireland, and despite trying, I have never had any contact with Irish expats living in indonesia - something which I know the Irish Embassy in Jakarta has played a part in for reasons know best to itself. I have literally never talked with a single other Irish person living here - which is obviously quite bizarre and unnatural. THOUSANDS of kittens are abandoned EVERYDAY here. Many of them in places like this, to face short lives of fear and hunger, then long drawn out deaths - except for those who die the agonising death from poisoning. VASTLY MORE animals are affected by this than the dog meat trade here - yet nobody talks or mentions this as an 'issue' - least of all the international 'charities', such as FourPaws and their like. They know they cannot make money from this the way they can from the dog meat issue. That is why they will also never mention the hugely popular blood sports here! These three little kittens are not even the last we rescued - I found another little 1 month old Ginger on the street 2 days later...... She will make an ideal friend for the disbled little guy in this video......why? His 2 brothers have settled in so well that they are spending all their time playing roughly - and it is a bit much for the little disabled guy. I heard little meows when checking out this regular spot for dumping - but it took a while to find the source of the crying! The kitten was frightened and tried to retreat into the dense undergrowth, but thankfully I was able to grab the little pet before getting away. I had to put the helmet down, WITH THE CAMERA, to make sure the kitten didn't get away completely - so unfortuneately I couldn't get the capture on camera. But unlike youtube's 'friends' - I would rather loose or not get video clips than loose an animal! By now, he has settled in well, but is still missing his mother. I heard little meows when checking out this regular spot for dumping - but it took a while to find the source of the crying! The kitten was frightened and tried to retreat into the dense undergrowth, but thankfully I was able to grab the little pet before getting away. I had to put the helmet down, WITH THE CAMERA, to make sure the kitten didn't get away completely - so unfortuneately I couldn't get the capture on camera. But unlike youtube's 'friends' - I would rather loose or not get video clips than loose an animal! By now, he has settled in well, but is still missing his mother. I was just finished up at this spot, where I usually leave food for a male stray cat that lives near here - when I heard two loud meows ...... . It was this lovely young female cat that was thrown away since the previous night. She still had her 'collar' on from the previous 'owner' who obviously had just got bored with her. I was looking for a different cat last night that I had seen the previous day - when this confused little chap appeared. Probably thrown away yesterday afternoon - I was lucky to find him before he got a soaking last night - because of his condition - it would have been worse for him if it had rained before he was found. Ya Allah - this is my Ramadhan - please accept our deeds and help us with your mercy. Found just now in Titang on the last day of Ramadhan as the rain is about to start.. They are only 1 month old and were sitting under a piece of thin laminate - on an area that had already been burnt out at the dump. This has been the busiest month of the year due to being Ramadhan in Indonesian - while the rest of Muslims are busy trying to behave better and do more deeds during Ramadhan - we see more dumped kittens and cats than during the rest of the year. This comes at a time when youtube has caused us to have the lowest level of donations in well over a year by stopping views on all the rest of our videos - in the last couple of week we have donation from only 2 of our most loyal donors - and of course Indonesians do not give zakat or sadaqa for charity online - EVEN DURING RAMADHAN..... so it has been quite a strain in the last couple of weeks with unprecedented numbers of animals rescued. The infamous day on which we surpassed our previous record for the number of kittens or cats that had to be rescued in a single day. This is a short version of the issue. Please let me know if you would like to see a much longer, more detailed version of the 4 rescues. I knew that this month would be the busiest of the year - this is because people who say they are Muslim - but who have nothing to do with Islam will literally behave worse during Ramadhan than during the rest of the year - this pervades EVERYTHING, general behaviour, manners on the road, and of course the number of kittens being dumped, the lever of neglect, etc. We have already had a busier month previous to this than ever before - not just dealing with young abandoned kittens, but also a lot of teenage, young and old adults with, in particular, extreme scabies cases. A couple of those animals were very sick and succumbed unfortunately - but the majority have undergone treatment successfully and are well on their way to full recovery. Todays extreme day started of with 3 TWO WEEK old kittens - still deaf and not even able to pee on their own yet. One of them was sitting in water in a field that had just had a combine harvester working through it - his two siblings were hiding in the undergrowth nearby - they were only found by searching thoroughly. Another straggler turned up by himself while I was dealing with the babies. 20 minutes later I found another 2 little guys at another dump. But that wasn't the total for the day. Later on at night - I found another 3 three month old gingies at the same dumpe that the 3 babies came from that morning. I expect the worst time will be the last week of Ramadhan and the following 3 or so days - so it may be that right now is the calm before the storm........ I had a big crash after going into a deliberately concealed hole on a track. Last call of the night was meant to be to leave some food for an old friend of mine - a stray cat that I have been feeding for over a year.... Just in the last 30m - some degenerate scumbag left a hole covered over and disguised for the next person to drive into. This is not one of the more lonely, remote or less used tracks that I typically find kittens on - this one is actually busy with men and women of all ages using it quite a lot - and especially farmers and school children during the day. This could easily have killed someone - it just happened I was the next after this was 'prepared'. This was probably done by someone from one of the local villages - so they could easily have hurt or killed their own neighbour or family. The bike got flipped right around to the opposite direction and got the rear shock absorber busted - as well as lights. I ended up landing mostly on my chest - which is really messed up. This is the only vehicle we have to do this work - getting it damaged by some infantile animal is really despicable - but i am no longer surprised. I have long ago stopped trying to get help or donations from Indonesians to do Maruf or help us out - EVEN IN RAMADHAN - it is no surprise that almost every interaction with them is an interference. While Muslims everywhere else are trying to do MORE good deeds during Ramadhan - here......... Amazing how difficult it is to get one f lousy like on Rumble - you would think they came out of peoples' pockets. From karate kicking an old woman (c. 70 y.o.) on a road into the ground - mercilessly KICKING a young schoolgirl in the HEAD - IN a classroom - both videoed by the perpetrators themselves ..... not exactly behaviour that MOST of US would be used to - but ...... we are the 'uneducated' 'unwashed' 'mannerless' masses with no 'culture', 'tradition' or even 'history' - according to 'some people'. As for my own situation - cowards sitting on bikes while I am away from mine, are not exactly a challenge..... shouting abuse at people out in a field only confirms that you are dealing with cowards EVEN WHEN THEY ARE IN NUMBERS - and they flee like rats as soon as you turn to WALK back to your bike 40m away!!!! And the reality for the 'twain' meeting, is that it would take more than doctors to put them back together afterwards - and magically they seem to know it. Why anyone would even want to go to Bali on holiday, let alone the rest, is beyond reckoning. In addition, specifically for those of us who actually ARE Muslims - There is not a Muslim alive who does not know the consequence of any 'Muslim' interfering with another Muslim while they are doing MARUF - and instead of helping - but this time, Allah's Qadr was to protect the cat from these evil ********.
