"Stan" is a song by American rapper Eminem, with vocals sampled from the opening lines of British singer Dido's song "Thank You". It was released in 2000, as the third single from Eminem's third album, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000). "Stan" peaked at number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. Outside of the United States, "Stan" topped the charts in 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and Ireland.
The 45 King-produced track also uses a slightly modified break from "Thank You" as its base sample; both songs were released as singles in late 2000. Retrospectively, "Stan" has been called one of Eminem's best songs, and, alongside "The Real Slim Shady" and "Lose Yourself", is considered one of his signature songs. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Stan" 296th on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, upping their ranking to 223rd in a 2021 updated list. The song was also listed 15th on VH1's list of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time and named in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
The song was nominated for multiple awards, including Best Song at the MTV Europe Music Awards, Video of the Year, Best Rap Video, Best Direction, and Best Cinematography at the MTV Video Music Awards. It won Best International Artist Video at the MuchMusic Video Awards. In April 2011, Complex magazine put together a list of the 100 greatest Eminem songs and ranked "Stan" second. The eponymous character's name gave rise to a slang term that refers to overzealous or maniacal fans of a celebrity or personality; the term has since been included in the Oxford English Dictionary.
The song tells the story of a person named Stanley "Stan" Mitchell (voiced by Eminem) who claims to be Eminem's biggest fan. It has been suggested the name "Stan" is a portmanteau of the words stalker and fan, though it is unknown if the name was chosen with that intention. The term "stan" has since become an internet slang term for an extremely obsessed fan of something or someone and is derived from the song's title. He writes Eminem several letters; over two verses, he is shown to be obsessive over the rapper, and grows increasingly frustrated and angry when there is no reply. He finally creates a voice recording of himself while driving his car on the highway, having consumed large quantities of depressants and alcohol; this verse includes a call-back to Eminem's "My Name Is" with the lyrics "I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?", as well as a reference to Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" ("about that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drownin', but didn't..."; he refers to the song as "In the Air of the Night"). He reveals that his pregnant girlfriend is tied up in the trunk as he approaches a bridge, realizing in a panic that he has no way to send the tape to Eminem, but it is too late. The verse ends at the sound of his car swerving off the bridge and hitting the water below.
The fourth verse features Eminem as himself, writing back to Stan and attempting to reason with him. Eminem tries to explain to Stan that while he does appreciate having him as a fan and is incredibly grateful, he worries that Stan might not always be taking the lyrics of his songs in the right way. In an example of dramatic irony, Eminem also urges Stan to receive help for his mental health issues and to treat his girlfriend better, lest he end up like a man he had just seen on the news who had driven his car off a bridge in a drunken stupor, killing himself and his pregnant girlfriend. Eminem then realizes halfway through writing his letter that the man he saw on the news was in fact Stan.

Metallica Through The Never Lyrics:
All that is, was and will be
Universe much too big to see
Time and space never ending
Disturbing thoughts, questions pending
Limitations of human understanding
Too quick to criticize
Obligation to survive
We hunger to be alive yeah
All that is, ever, ever was
Will be ever
Twisting, Turning
Through the never
In the dark, see past our eyes
Pursuit of truth no matter where it lies
Gazing up to the breeze of the heavens
On a quest, meaning, reason
Came to be, how it begun
All alone in the family of the sun
Curiosity teasing everyone
On our home, third stone from the sun
All that is, ever, ever was
Will be ever
Twisting, Turning
Through the never
we must go
(On through the never)
Out of the Edge of forever
We must go (on through the never)
Then ever comes
All that is, ever, ever was
Will be ever
Twisting, Turning
Who we are
Ask forever
Twisting Turning
Through the never
Never

Disturbed Remember Lyrics:
Sensation washes over me, I can't describe it
Pain I felt so long ago, I don't remember
Tear a hole so I can see my devastation
Feelings from so long ago, I don't remember
Holding on to let them know
What's given to me, given to me
To hide behind the mask this time
And try to believe
Blind your eyes to what you see, you can't embrace it
Leave it well enough alone and don't remember
Cut your pride and watch it bleed, you can't deny it
Pain you know you can't ignore, I don't remember
Holding on to let them know
What's given to me, given to me
To hide behind the mask this time
And try to believe
If I can remember
To know this will conquer me
If I can just walk alone
And try to escape into me
Sensation washes over me
I can't describe it
Pain I felt so long ago
I don't remember
I'm just holding on to let them know
What's given to me, given to me
To hide behind the mask this time
And try to believe (Hey)
If I can remember
To know this will conquer me
If I can just walk alone
And try to escape into me
Into me
Into me

Higher is a song by American rock band Creed. It was released on August 31, 1999, as the lead single from their second studio album, Human Clay. The song became the bands breakthrough hit as it was their first song to reach the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100 where it peaked at number seven in July 2000. It spent a total of 57 weeks upon the survey, the longest stay for any Creed song on the Hot 100. "Higher" also became the band's second chart-topping hit on rock radio as it topped both the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, for a then-record of 17 weeks.
According to an interview with Loudwire, in an episode of "Wikipedia: Fact Or Fiction", Mark Tremonti revealed that the song was a culmination of improvising live onstage. During their earliest shows, vocalist Scott Stapp would placate the audience by goading his bandmates to come up with a song live on the spot. Scott was the first to begin playing the drum set piece, with Mark later entering the chord progression associated with the song. After reviewing the tapes of the show, as they had always recorded their performances for later review, they decided that the song was worth working out in the studio.
Vocalist Scott Stapp and long-time friend Steven Harang wrote the song about the power of lucid dreaming. In another episode of Loudwire's "Wikipedia: Fact Or Fiction?" Stapp stated that the inspiration for the song came from a recurring dream that he had. In the endlessly present nightmare, Stapp would be hunted down and killed by an unknown assailant brandishing a firearm. Once he took up studying lucid dreaming, he was able to escape the gunman, and subsequently wrote the song as a memento towards the dream.
Musically the song has an anthemic and uplifting sound, often drawing comparisons to one of the band's later hit singles, "My Sacrifice". The song is written in the key of D major, with Tremonti playing in drop D tuning and Stapp singing in baritone.

Creed Higher Lyrics:
When dreaming I'm guided to another world
Time and time again
At sunrise I fight to stay asleep
'Cause I don't wanna leave the comfort of this place
'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape
From the life I live when I'm awake
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?
Can you take me higher?
To a place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To a place with golden streets
Although I would like our world to change
It helps me to appreciate
Those nights and those dreams
But, my friend, I'd sacrifice all those nights
If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same
The only difference is
To let love replace all our hate
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?
Can you take me higher?
To a place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To a place with golden streets
So let's go there
Yeah, let's go there
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?
Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time
Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine
Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine
Can you take me higher?
To a place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To a place with golden streets
Can you take me higher?
To a place where blind men see
Can you take me higher?
To a place with golden streets

Everlong is a song by American rock band Foo Fighters, released in August 1997 as the second single from their second studio album, The Colour and the Shape (1997). The song reached number three on the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart and the Canadian RPM Rock/Alternative chart. It is often regarded as the band's signature song. Everlong was the last song performed live by former drummer Taylor Hawkins before his death in March 2022. As a result of his death, streams of the song increased and charted on the Billboard Global 200 at number 123, the band's first appearance on the chart.
The Foo Fighters traditionally close their shows with Everlong. To date, it is the band's most frequently performed song, with 1095 live performances (as of June 2023). Since the song was released in 1997, it has been performed in all but four of the Foo Fighters' full-length concerts.

Foo Fighters Everlong Lyrics:
Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red
Out of her head, she sang
Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow, how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head
Out of her head, she sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever be this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Breathe out
So I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head
Out of my head, I sang
And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
So Dad would take the Sundays off,
And that's the only time he could ever get any rest,
And so, because we were loud on Sundays,
He'd make us hold his construction boots over our head, till he'd sleep
And they were really heavy boots
And I'd used to say dad come on please
And like start crying, cause they're too heavy.
And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when

Royal Blood is the debut studio album by British rock duo Royal Blood. The album, produced by the band and Tom Dalgety, was released by Warner Bros. Records on 22 August 2014 in Friday-release countries and on 25 August 2014 in the United Kingdom.
The album was well received by music critics. It was nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize for best album. It has been a commercial success, debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart and being verified by the Official Charts Company as the fastest-selling British rock debut album in the UK in three years. It also charted worldwide, reaching top 10 positions in Ireland, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
Royal Blood was formed in 2011 by bassist and lead vocalist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher. The pair had known each other since their teenage years and had been playing in various bands together and independently, with Kerr previously serving as a member of British rock band Hunting the Minotaur. With ideas for new songs and "a bass sound", Kerr formed the band with Thatcher after a nine-month tenure in Australia, meeting him at the airport and arranging rehearsals the next day and playing a concert to their friends in a local bar in Brighton.
After spending time in the recording studio, the band started to gain mainstream attention in the summer of 2013, when their songs, such as "Out of the Black" and "Come On Over", were first sent to the radio for airplay and after a promotional stunt where Matt Helders, the drummer of the Arctic Monkeys, wore a Royal Blood T-shirt during the band's performance at Glastonbury. Both bands share the same management company. The band was also additionally nominated by the BBC, along with fourteen other acts, for their Sound of 2014, however they lost out to British singer Sam Smith.

What If is a song by Creed, released as the second single from their 1999 album Human Clay.
What If was written by singer Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti. Along with the rest of Human Clay, the song was recorded at a house outside of Tallahassee. Lead singer Scott Stapp moved there after reading that Jim Morrison had lived in Tallahassee.
In the song, Scott Stapp sings about hatred and those who oppress others. According to guitarist Mark Tremonti, the intro was inspired by the 1966 song "Paint It, Black" by The Rolling Stones. Along with "Bullets", it is one of Creed's heaviest songs.
The music video, directed by David Meyers, portrayed Creed band members being "killed" by the Ghostface character from the Scream films. The video features actor David Arquette. The music video can be found on the DVD and VHS releases of Scream 3.

Creed What If Lyrics:
I can't find the rhyme in all my reason
I've lost sense of time and all seasons
Feel I've been beaten down
By the words of men who have no grounds
Can't sleep beneath the trees of wisdom
When your ax has cut the roots that feed them
Forked tongues in bitter mouths
Can drive a man to bleed from inside out
What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?
I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine
Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind
Human pride sings a vengeful song
Inspired by the times you've been walked on
My stage is shared by many millions
Who lift their hands up high because they feel this
We are one we are strong
The more you hold us down the more we press on
What if you did?
What if you lied?
What if I avenge?
What if eye for an eye?
I know I can't hold the hate inside my mind
'Cause what consumes your thoughts controls your life
So I'll just ask a question
A lonely simple question
I'll just ask one question
What if

"King Nothing" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica from their 1996 album Load, released on January 7, 1997.
The song was written by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett. The song starts on a bass riff which develops into the main riff of the song. A single of "King Nothing" was released in the United States. It included a live version of the song "Ain't My Bitch", which is also on the album Load. A music video also accompanied the song. The guitars and bass are both tuned to Eb.
The words "Off to never-never land", heard at the end of the song, are a nod to the song "Enter Sandman", from Metallica's preceding album, which also contains these words. Both songs have a similar structure.
On the US charts, the song reached number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100, while peaking at number six on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
The song circles around the theme of "be careful what you wish for". The lyrics depict a man who just wants to play the king and does not care about anything else. This ultimately leads to his downfall, as shown in "And it all crashes down, and you break your crown".
The demo of "King Nothing" was called "Load" (hence the title of the album on which it is featured) and was recorded in Lars Ulrich's home studio 'Dungeon' by James Hetfield and Ulrich on November 30, 1994.

Metallica King Nothing Lyrics:
Wish I may
Wish I might
Have this I wish tonight
Are you satisfied?
Dig for gold
Dig for fame
You dig to make your name
Are you pacified?
All the wants you waste
All the things you've chased
And it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger, but there's no one around
Just want one thing, just to play the king
But the castle crumbled and you're left with just a name
Where's your crown, King Nothing?
Where's your crown?
Hard and cold
Bought and sold
A heart as hard as gold
Yeah! Are you satisfied?
Wish I might, wish I may
You wish your life away
Are you pacified?
All the wants you waste
All the things you've chased
Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger, but there's no one around
Just want one thing, just to play the king
But the castle crumbled and you're left with just a name
Where's your crown, King Nothing?
Where's your crown?
Huh!
Wish I may, wish I might
Have this wish, I wish tonight
I want that star, I want it now
I want it all and I don't care how
Careful what you wish
Careful what you say
Careful what you wish you may regret it
Careful what you wish you just might get it
Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger, but there's no one around
Just want one thing, just to play the king
But the castle crumbled and you're left with just a name
Where's your crown, King Nothing?
Nothing
Oh, you're just nothing
Where's your crown King Nothing?
Oh, you're just nothing
Absolutely nothing
Off to never never land

Song: 7 Words
Artist: @deftones

Original Bassist: Chi Cheng RIP
Bass: @HarleyBentonOfficial MB-5 SBK Deluxe Series
Tuning: Standard Tuning (E A D G)
Deftones 7 Words Lyrics:
I'll never be the same, breaking decency
Don't be tree trunk, don't fall on my living roots
I've been humming too many words, got a weak self-esteem
That's been stomped away from every single dream
But it's something else that brought us faze
Keep it all inside, until we feel we can't unleash
I think that you made it up, I think that your mind is gone
I think you shouldn't have glorified, now you're wrong
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
They fuck with my head
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck
Suck it, bitch
You and me are here alone face flat along the edge of the glass
But I'm not here to preach, I'm just sick of thugs
My parents made me strong to lift up that glass
So why should I try, act like I'm a little pissed off
With all that shit that needs to stay back on the shelf
Because your punk ass made it up, your fucking mind was gone
Should've never glorified, now you're right
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Fucking get him out of here
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck
Suck it, bitch
You don't know me, shut up, you don't know me
Squeal like a pig when you big fucking, big fucking, ape
Well, I'll tell you about my smoke stack
What's coming back jack, we'll turn back
Curse for in their words in their words
Tell them that you fucking heard
I mean, they know that's what's coming nigga, and you're a quitter
I'm thinking 'bout something naughty and won't tell anybody
So thinking of me by now, but you go grab it
I'd like to think, for who I down this shit
I belong where they be, 'cause we can not get back those lives
We exist to cease, understand
That God hates blacks shades and all the players
Mr. P.I.G., could I fucking see?
Sure already done crushed all of my brothers dignity
And to the jury, can't be no turn is all, my skin looks colored
Does that mean I'm burnt
'Cause your punk ass made it up, your fucking mind was gone
Should've never glorified, wrong
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, sucking
They fuck with my head
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck, suck
Suck, suck, suck
Suck you, bitch

Artist: @DisturbedMusic
Album: The Sickness
Original Bassist: Steve Kmak
Bass: @HarleyBentonOfficial MB-5 SBK Deluxe Series
Tabs: Transcribed by ear tabs 👂👉 https://tinyurl.com/jamesdixonbasstabs
Tuning: Drop D Flat (Db Ab Db Gb)
Stupify is a song by American heavy metal band Disturbed. It was released on 12 April 2000, as the first single from their debut album, The Sickness. It peaked at No. 12 on the United States Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and No. 10 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Unlike many other Disturbed songs, "Stupify" features mostly synthesizers throughout the song.
The song is against racism and discrimination. The song is about a relationship Disturbed's vocalist David Draiman had with a Latina girl. He said her family didn't approve of him because of his different ethnicity.
The video for the song features the band performing the song in a rusted cellar-like room, intercut with footage of a young boy sitting in the same room. As the song progresses, the boy is revealed to be haunted by ghost-like images. David Draiman said that the boy represents his inner child and also said, "This inner child has been damaged in such a way that the world he sees around him is dark and frightening and marred by life experience. It's haunted by specters and ghosts from the past."

Disturbed Stupify Lyrics:
Yeah, bringing you another disturbing creation
From the mind of one sick animal who can't tell the difference
And gets stupified
I've been waiting my whole life for just one fuck
And all I needed was just one fuck
How can you say that you don't give a fuck?
I find myself stupified, coming back again
All I wanted was just one fuck
One tiny, little, innocent fuck
And when I feel like I'm shit out of luck
I find myself stupified, coming back again
Why do you like playing around with
My narrow scope of reality?
I can feel it all start slipping, I think I'm breaking down
Why do you like playing around with
My narrow scope of reality?
I can feel it all start slipping away
See, but I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit?
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it?
I get stupified
"It's all the same", you say, live with it
But I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit?
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it?
I get stupified
I get stupified
All the people in the left wing, rock
And all the people in the right wing, rock
And all the people in the underground, rock
I find myself stupified, coming back again
All the people in the high-rise, rock
And all the people in the projects, rock
And all gente in the barrio, rock
I find myself stupified, coming back again
Why do you like playing around with
My narrow scope of reality?
I can feel it all start slipping, I think I'm breaking down
Why do you like playing around with
My narrow scope of reality?
I can feel it all start slipping away
See, but I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit?
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it?
I get stupified
"It's all the same", you say, live with it
But I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit?
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it?
I get stupified
I get stupified
Tefached
Tefached
And don't deny me
No, baby now, don't deny me
And darling, don't be afraid
But I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit?
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it?
I get stupified
Look in my face, stare in my soul, I begin to stupify, rah
Look in my face, stare in my soul, I begin to stupify, rah
Look in my face, stare in my soul, I begin to stupify, rah

Metallica - The Struggle Within - Bass Cover with Play Along Tabs
Bass cover of Metallica's song The Struggle Within with Play Along in video Tabs. The tab is for a 4 string bass in standard tuning.
Song: The Unforgiven
Artist: @metallica
Album: The Black Album
Original Bassist: Jason Newsted
Bass: @OfficialSpector Legend Classic 6 String
Strings: MTD Stainless Strings
Tuning: Standard (E A D G)
The Struggle Within is the twelfth and last track from the 1991 album Metallica. It was written by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich and has a length of 3:53. It doesn't appear on any single released by Metallica.
The Struggle Within was written and sung during the band's last day in studio. James Hetfield had run out of steam and he has since admitted that "the struggle within" was the trouble he had coming up with the words for this song. With the benefit of hindsight, he also sees the song as indicative of the anger he was feeling at the time, and his struggle to deal with it. Said Hetfield, "I'm no psychiatrist, but it's right there."
The Struggle Within was played live 17 times. The first wasn't during The Black Album's tour, but on May 7, 2012, in Prague (Czech Republic), celebrating twenty years of the album's release.
For the Black Album's 20th anniversary, the band played the entire album backwards, starting with this song. Before they started, an intro video was played with the drum intro of the song.

Metallica The Struggle Within Lyrics:
Reaching out for something you've got to feel
While clutching to what you had thought was real
Kicking at a dead horse pleases you
No way of showing your gratitude
S-s-so many things you don't want to do
What is it? What have you got to lose?
What the hell? What the hell?
What is that you think you're gonna find?
Hypocrite, hypocrite
Boredom sets into the boring mind
it suits you fine
(Struggle within) your ruined
(Struggle within) you seal your own coffin
(Struggle within) the struggling within
Home is not a home, it becomes a hell
Turning it into your prison cell
Advantages are taken, not handed out
While you struggle inside your hell
reaching out
Grabbing for something you've got to feel
(Closing in) closing in
The pressure upon you is so unreal
it suits you fine
(Struggle within) your ruin
(Struggle within) you seal your own coffin
(Struggle within) struggling within
Struggle
Go!
Reaching out for something you've got to feel
While clutching to what you had thought was real
What the hell?
What is it you think you're gonna find?
Hypocrite
Boredom sets into the boring mind
it suits you fine
(Struggle within) your ruin
(Struggle within) you seal your own coffin
(Struggle within) the struggling within

Killing in the Name is a protest song by American rock band Rage Against the Machine, and appears on their 1992 self-titled debut album. It was released as the lead single from the album in November 1992. It features heavy drop-D guitar riffs, and lyrics inspired by the police brutality suffered by Rodney King and the subsequent 1992 Los Angeles riots.
Killing in the Name is Rage Against the Machine's signature song. In 1993, it reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2009, following a campaign protesting the British talent show The X Factor, "Killing in the Name" reached the UK Christmas number one.
The lyrics were inspired by the police brutality suffered by Rodney King and the subsequent 1992 Los Angeles riots. The refrain "some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses" draws a link between the Los Angeles Police Department and the Ku Klux Klan. According to BBC News, "Killing in the Name" rails against "the military–industrial complex, justifying killing for the benefit of, as the song puts it, the chosen whites".

Under the Bridge is a song by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and the eleventh track on their fifth studio album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991). Vocalist Anthony Kiedis wrote the lyrics while reflecting on loneliness and the struggles of being clean from drugs, and almost did not share it with the band. Released in March 1992, "Under the Bridge" was praised by critics and fans for its emotional weight. The song was a commercial success and the band's highest-charting single, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and certified platinum. It was also a success in other countries, mostly charting within the top 10.
"Under the Bridge" helped the Red Hot Chili Peppers enter the mainstream. David Fricke of Rolling Stone said that the song "unexpectedly drop-kicked the band into the Top 10". The song has become an inspiration to other artists, and remains a seminal component of the alternative rock movement of the early and mid-1990s.
During the production of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, producer Rick Rubin regularly visited singer Anthony Kiedis to review his new material. He found a poem titled "Under the Bridge" in Kiedis's notebook and took an interest in the poignant lyrics. Rubin suggested that Kiedis show it to the rest of the band: "I thought it was beautiful. I said, 'We've got to do this.'"
Kiedis was reluctant, as he felt the poem was too emotional and did not fit the Chili Peppers' style. After singing the poem to guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith, they "got up and walked over to their instruments and started finding the beat and guitar chords to match it". Frusciante chose the chords to balance the dark lyrics, saying "I thought if the lyrics are really sad like that I should write some chords that are happier".
Frusciante and Kiedis worked on the song for several days. It was one of the few tracks completed prior to the band moving into the Mansion, where they recorded the album. After the song was recorded, Rubin felt the grand ending would benefit from a large group of singers. Frusciante invited his mother, Gail, and her friend, both of whom sang in a choir, to perform.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Under The Bridge Lyrics:
Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in, the city of angels
Lonely as I am, together we cry
I drive on her streets 'cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills 'cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy
Well, I never worry, now that is a lie
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe that I'm all alone
At least I have her love, the city, she loves me
Lonely as I am, together we cry
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel
Like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, no, no-no, yeah, yeah
Love me, I say, yeah yeah
One time
Is where I drew some blood
(Under the bridge downtown)
I could not get enough
(Under the bridge downtown)
Forgot about my love
(Under the bridge downtown)
I gave my life away
Yeah, yeah
Oh, no, no-no-no, yeah, yeah
Oh, no, I said, oh, yeah, yeah
