The Little Colonel (1935) ⭐️ Shirley Temple ⭐️ Lionel Barrymore ⭐️ Evelyn Venable ⭐️ Hattie McDaniel | Comedy, Family, Musical
After the war, southern beauty Elizabeth Lloyd runs away to marry Yankee Jack Sherman. Her father, a Confederate Colonel during the Civil War, stops speaking to his daughter, warning him never to speak to her again. Several years pass and Elizabeth returns to her hometown with her husband and their beautiful daughter (Shirley Temple). The little girl charms and wins over her tough grandfather, and tries to patch things up between the colonel and her mother. Beautiful musical numbers, top-notch entertainment for the whole family. Contains the scene where Shirley Temple dances on the stairs with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. At the time, it was forbidden for a black person to dance with a white woman, but this scene was allowed because it involved a child. This classic scene was an "opening" to end the racism that was common in films at the time.
📚 The film is based on the novel of the same name by Annie Fellows Johnston.

Heidi (1937) ⭐️ Shirley Temple ⭐️Jean Hersholt ⭐️Arthur Treacher ⭐️Sidney Blackmer | Drama, Musical
Tired of looking after the orphan Heidi, her aunt leaves her in the Swiss Alps in the care of her grumpy grandfather, until one day she sells her to a rich family in Frankfurt, where she must keep company with Klara, the couple's paralyzed daughter. Despite these misfortunes, Heidi captivates the entire family, but does not give up on returning to her grandfather.
📚 The film was based on the children's novel of the same name by Johanna Spyri, from 1880.
Halfway through filming the film, the dream sequence was added to the script. There were reports that Temple was behind the dream sequence and that she was pushing for it enthusiastically, but in her autobiography she vehemently denied this. Her contract did not give her or her parents any creative control over the films in which she appeared. Although she enjoyed the opportunity to wear braids and be lifted on a tightrope, she saw it as the collapse of any serious attempt by the studio to build on the dramatic role of the previous film Wee Willie Winkie.
Temple made another film in 1937, Wee Willie Winkie (See on channel: https://youtu.be/4gWXmTS19SE). The child actress was getting older and the studio questioned how long she could continue playing "cute" roles when Heidi was filmed, but she maintained her position at number one at the box office for the third year in a row.

The Big Lift (1950) ⭐️ Montgomery Clift | Drama, War
Experiences of two Air Force sergeants during the 1948 Berlin Airlift.
The Big Lift production team arrived in Berlin in May 1949, just as the blockade was lifted by the Russians, and triggered real airlift activity at both terminals. Principal photography began in July. Montgomery Clift became available after he dropped out of the film Sunset Blvd., in which he was supposed to be the lead, before filming began in June. Even so, all scenes involving him were filmed first to allow him to return to the United States to begin filming on location for A Place in the Sun in October.
As the film was shot in Berlin in 1949, as well as using newsreel footage of the actual airlift, it offers a contemporary glimpse into the post-war state of the city as its people struggled to recover from the devastation caused by the Second World War.
Aerial sequences were performed, often in bad weather to demonstrate the conditions under which the airlift was carried out, using a Fairchild C-82 Packet as a camera platform, taking advantage of its removable rear fuselage to take panoramic photos of up to 170 degrees. Seaton reported that he eventually overcame political complications with Soviet authorities to complete filming inside the Brandenburg Gate, which was in the Soviet zone, but that on the day of the shooting the Soviets installed loudspeakers to harass the set with propaganda. The scene was filmed without sound and the dialogue was added later via dubbing. (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/)

In California, Bobo and Tiny are doing odd jobs and getting drunk. They hide a secret about the unsolved murder of sailor Pop Kelly, but suicidal waitress Anna, saved by Bobo, solves the mystery.
Film based on the novel written by Willard Robertson, Moon Tide (1940).
Shortly after filming began, director Fritz Lang left the project, reportedly due to friction he had with Gabin regarding Marlene Dietrich, who had been involved with both men. It is not known which footage was first filmed by Lang or replacement director Archie Mayo.
Surrealist Salvador Dali was hired to create the drunkard montage at the top of the story, but his sketches were considered too bizarre, and the scene was filmed with only a little of his influence (probably the close-up of the clock, the headless woman ) intact.

A Star Is Born (1937) ⭐️ Janet Gaynor ⭐️ Fredric March | Drama, Romance
A young woman arrives in Hollywood with dreams of stardom, and realizes them only with the help of an alcoholic actor whose best days are behind her.
The story is very similar to the previous What Price Hollywood? (1932), released by RKO Radio Pictures. The original name of the 1932 film was "The Truth About Hollywood", from a story by Adela Rogers St. Johns. St. Johns loosely based his text on the experiences of actress Colleen Moore and her husband, alcoholic producer John McCormick (1893–1961), and the life and death of director Tom Forman, who committed suicide after a nervous breakdown.
Four years after What Price Hollywood? was released, producer Selznick went to director George Cukor and asked if he would like to direct A Star Is Born. Cukor thought the script was too similar to What Price Hollywood? and didn't accept it. RKO executives considered suing Selznick International Pictures for plagiarism but decided against it. Cukor later directed the remake as a musical in 1954, starring Judy Garland.
A common myth in Hollywood was that Lana Turner appeared as an extra in one of the scenes. Turner denied this rumor for years, saying that she was discovered months after that production ended. (source: https://pt.wikipedia.org/)

Nothing Sacred (1937) ⭐️ Carole Lombard ⭐️ Fredric March ⭐️ Frank Fay | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy
When a small-town girl is diagnosed with a rare and deadly disease, an ambitious journalist wants to turn her into a national hero.
Nothing Sacred presents the first use in a color film of process effects, montage and rear screen projection. The backgrounds for the rear projection were filmed on the streets of New York. Paramount Pictures and other studios refined this technique in their subsequent color features.
One of the reasons the film is considered one of the most celebrated screwball comedies is that beneath the humor, it incorporates strongly cynical themes of corruption and dishonesty. This film, along with Hecht's The Front Page (1931) and his 1940 remake His Girl Friday with Cary Grant, caricatures the chicanery that some newspapers resorted to in order to get a "hot" story.
