Suffering with Lyme disease will often include a lot of pain. You can get all sorts of joint pains, and headaches, but you can also get some intense nerve pains like tingling in the hands or feet like neuropathy or tooth pains too. When I had Lyme disease, I had sensitive skin and it was awful to be touched, it just plain hurt!
The worst part in my opinion when suffering with Lyme disease pains, is the fear they can bring and anguish. How can you do anything if everything hurts?! Its normal to want to shut down and hibernate. Sometimes it can be hard to be part of life like you used to be and pain can really get in the way of having a pleasant day let alone a pleasant life experience.
With this "stop the hurt" series, I like to let you know you CAN do something about pain management besides medication. Most of us know the dangers involved with pain medication so while they are great when necessary under supervision, its good to have some other tools that help you take less or eventually be free from them . In some cases yoga methods can prevent you from needing them at all.
This third video in the "Stop Your Hurt" series shows you how to reduce your pain stress level while teaching you how to control how you think about pain. When you can manage your thoughts about pain, pain gets out of your way. And then pain gets out of your way because you are not thinking about it all the time. When you practice your mental focus often, you can reduce your pain level by changing your awareness about it. Yoga has also been known to heal the nervous system. That means the pain feedback loop gets changed.

Stop Your Suffering Lyme Disease Yoga - Soothe The Hurt #1
Lyme disease and pain. Need I say more? It gets in the way of EVERYTHING you try to do and drains your already low energy to lower levels. There is no real concise way to explain what the pain feels like either. It can vary from joint pain, muscle pain, bone pain, and headaches, to emotional pain because of the hardships it brings. And, if you have a coinfection like Bartonella, the pain can increase significantly too.
As I was making this video about soothing pain, I wanted to keep it simple, and super gentle because one of the secrets to dealing with Lyme disease recovery and pain is about taking activity to the beginning of a pain zone without entering it. Activity has to be re-introduced as a safe space because you never know when an action will "flare" you. You lose trust in yourself. Your body is so confused by the Lyme disease chaos it feels. I found out in my recovery process that you want to teach yourself how to trust your body again. The hard part of doing that is slowing down. You know how it is.. you get a good day and decide to jump into life and then you are in agony for weeks afterward... Yeah, I did that too.
You will find the activity of this Stop Your Suffering Lyme Disease Yoga session slow, gentle, and mindful in its flow. It is a perfect way to reduce Lyme disease physical and mental pain.
When you practice this session, it helps you take time off from your Lyme disease "warrior" self to soothe your raw feelings with gentle movements. You can do this session anytime of the day and its great before bed too. Practice often so you change fighting for recovery, to resting and receiving healing that restores a feeling of being yourself again.

Stop Your Suffering Lyme Disease Yoga - Getting To Know Me 3
Let me introduce you to my new best friend Mario! I am incredibly excited to have him join my life - and my yoga life too. He is an Australian Cattle Dog who just loves to create activity with play. I brought him home just a few days ago so this is his first time on camera! I think he will be a busy, busy fellow for a while so get ready for some interesting videos. LOL
On the serious side, though, having a support pet during your Lyme disease recovery can be a really great asset to your healing. Whether you have a dog , cat, or a different pet, the unconditional love it offers every day can fill up a very important space within you. Unlike most people, your support pets can connect with you on what seems like an intuitive level so it seems they know how you feel and understand you with out questioning it all. That can make you feel really connected and loved during a difficult moment in your recovery.
I always found that taking care of my previous dog Carlo ( who you might see in some of my earlier videos) kept me engaged with my day . I needed to care for him and I didn't want to disappoint him by skipping walks or outside time. So he nudged me to continue to be a part of life. I bet you have some very great moments in that way with your pet too! Its hard not to!
Getting your pets unconditional love is also a way to reduce your suffering because you have one of the best friendships ever with them. You know I love helping you stop your suffering, so I hope you enjoy this short moment getting to meet my new friend and will join me in my other videos to learn easy ways to cope with your suffering - and get it out of your way!

I love doing these quick chats for you so you can understand why I feel yoga is a part of your missing tool to recover from Lyme disease. I also just like to give you a more personal connection that can get missed in just an instructional video. Giving you a feeling of being connected and supported is always my heart felt focus in all the video I make, especially these Getting To Know You ones.
The point is -its not that yoga will cure Lyme disease, but rather that yoga will give you more mental strength, balance and ability to cope while you are recovering. Yoga is, in my opinion, one of the great coping practices for illness EVER! And since I used it as one of my biggest go to tools for my recovery I know you can use it too so you can feel better. Feeling better is all about being calmer, more in charge and knowing you have choices, sometimes they are tough or dissapointing choices but your emotional reaction to the them doesn't derail you from your hope and positive actions! Recovering from Lyme disease is very draining in so many ways that I found yoga a great help to recharge me too, and keep me going.
In this video chat, I tell you a little more about what I experienced with Lyme disease and a little more background about me in general, and that recovery is possible. Never stop hoping! Never stop taking action for it!

There are many moments of distress when you suffer with illness. Lyme disease is well known to cause more than its share of doubt and concern about events that you never had to consider before. This attention to details is exhausting and produces mental anguish that you might find is hard to gain control over. Your thoughts begin to feel like they aren't yours anymore. Its like Lyme disease not only stole your life bu tnow its working to take over what you can think about! The accumulation of doubt and distress can lead to constant feelings of anxiety or even sometimes a panic feeling.
Thats why I am here. I went throught these same challenges when I was suffering with Lyme disease. I found out that I had to create my own calm. Luckily I was used to using my yoga therapy training for everyday stress, so now I put it to a great test in handling my distress from Lyme disease. And here I am sharing with you the things I used so you can have simple ways to feel empowered to take back your life - and stop anxious thoughts and feeling distressed.
This video is a replay of a live class I did for my Chronic Lyme Disease Recovery group. It is a gentle flow session with techniques that speak to all levels of the emotional body and well as the physical body. Its no secret that the energy between the two create an impact on how you feel. It usually takes repeating these techniques everyday for a while until you have shifted the relationship of you and the effects of Lyme disease on your thoughts. Remember yoga is a practice, not a peprformance. You get better with it over time. That means practicing it makes it a perfect tool for you to use becasue you understand how it works for you and your recovery. And then it will help you get better faster!

Stop Your Suffering Lyme Disease Yoga - Mental Time Out
Have you ever had one of those "I can't take it anymore!" moments in your Lyme disease recovery journey? I sure did and they are NOT fun. They are scary, and really disheartening. Its as if you suddenly become disconnected to the world around you. You feel misunderstood, maybe a bit confused and really, really ill from Lyme disease.
I know that when I felt frustrated and angry and at my wits end about betting better, for me, angry was my biggest stumbling block. It seemed to make a miserable illness even more miserable.
The worst part was feeling angry about almost everything . Plus, instead of it just being a moment of frustration that happens to everyone now and then, it would linger for a day or more.
I finally decided to use my yoga tools and methods to see which ones would help me break out of the angry rut I was stuck in. This Mental Time Out methos was and easy one for me to remember at the time so I did it often. What I found out was not only did it help me get out of an angry episode, the "time out" yoga tool helped me reduce the anger and make it more manageable so it didn't linger as long. And I noticed I had less anger over all .
The really great side benefit I noticed was this Mental Time Out sequence I have for you in this video reduced other intense emotions like depression . So you have Lyme disease, right? or maybe you would like to call it I have a new emotion every couple of minutes disease ??! Well, I sorta thought it was like. My emotions went crazy when I had Lyme disease.
I had neurological Lyme disease and yes, umm, it seemed like THAT. I felt like I went from happy, depressed, confused, and fearful all in a few moments sometimes! I even discovered emotions that had no names all mixed up in those too.
The emotional rollercoaster you can sometimes get caught up in when you suffer with Lyme disease can sure cause a lot of life drama that is hard for others to understand too. So this is why I made this video for you. It is one quick way to get a reset of yourself so you feel in control again. That is a wonderful feeling to have when you feel so ill from this disease. A meditative and gentle movement session that releases you from the grip of fear. This is a replay of a live on line group session.
When you suffer with Lyme disease, your emotions about recovering can be very erratic and it seems like you never know where your worries will take you next. Lyme disease suffering makes it hard to feel good about almost everything - even getting better. Thats when fear starts to tell you things like you can't trust your recovery process or that healing is not happening. You start to fear you will never get better or as if you are dying. I know this happened to me during my worst times as I sufferfed with late stage neurological Lyme disease , but I was glad I could use my yoga methods to create a stronger sense of being in control of my mind.
