Freedom Day 2022 saw a historic freedom protest in Ottawa Canada called the Truckers Freedom Convoy. Viva Frei and That Retired Guy were there. The peaceful loving protest came to a violent conclusion when our Government imposed the Emergencies Act and sent armies of riot police and mounted horsemen to assault and arrest the protesters. After a highly politicised inquiry the country is still divided and in pain. A Derecho hits Ottawa; the biggest storm in decades and wouldn't you know, it happens right in the middle of our 50th wedding anniversary. The devastation was widespread (check the aftermath pics) but our party went ahead without a hitch - well unless you consider a power blackout as a hitch. Restoring power to his people and protecting critical infrastructure is no small task but then striving to "Live Your Best Life" is not always easy. Join Darell as he ventures out into a Quebec winter storm.

That Retired Guy warms up his 20+ year old RoadStar motorcycle and joins the the Rolling Thunder Rally. The goal is to return dignity to the Canadian War Memorial that was desecrated by Police during their attack on the Truckers Freedom Convoy protesters this past February. Veterans who were guarding the sacred ground were beaten and dragged away under the authority of the Emergencies Act decreed by Prime Minister Trudeau. It is time we paid our respect to the Canadian Veterans who fought hard for the freedoms that are being stripped away. Riding as a part of Rolling Thunder is my way of saying thank you to our Veterans and it's a shout out for Freedom.

That Retired Guy goes to join the peaceful Truckers Freedom protest downtown Ottawa. He finds that this is much harder to do than he thinks. It seems that there are powers that be who are determined to block him.
