How to Improve my English Vocabulary?/ Four Tips to Build your Vocabulary
#EnglishVocabulary, #Reading, #ExplaingWords, #Derivatives, #Practice
In this video, we are going to discuss four different but interrelated strategies that are necessary for anyone who wants to improve his/her vocabulary in English.
The discussion of these four strategies comes as an answer to a frequently asked question which:
“How to improve my English vocabulary?”
In reality, this question is asked by millions of pupils, students, and other people who want to be good users of English.
We all know that having the required vocabulary is necessary for everyone to express him/herself easily and to be able to understand what the other is saying. That is to say, without acquiring the set of words and expressions we need to interact easily in our social context, we will face great difficulties to build a cooperative atmosphere of communication.
To find a solution for these difficulties, some people made different attempts to answer the question:
“How to improve my English vocabulary?”
While some of them argue that we can improve our English vocabulary by learning a given number of words each day, others say that improving one’s vocabulary is a matter of practice. The more we practice English, the more we learn new words and expressions.
For me, improving one’s vocabulary should follow a whole process of four successive and inter-related steps. These are:
1. Reading
2. Explain unfamiliar words
3. Look for derivatives
4. Practice
Watch the video till the end to understand how these four strategies work in a whole process of learning to help learners of English brush up their vocabulary level.

What Teachers Give Vs. What Students Need: Highlighting the Gap between Theory and Practice
#Regularclasses, #Exams, #Theory, #Practice, #Marks, #Performance
Lectures Vs. Exams
Theory Vs. Practice
In this video, I am going to discuss some frequently asked questions. Some questions that students ask about the difference between:
a. What their teachers give them in their classes.
b. What they need the day of the exam.
For instance, some students ask:
“Why is there a difference between what our teachers give us as theoretical knowledge in their regular classes and what we need as practical knowledge to solve exam problems?”
Some others say: “I attended all classes, I reviewed all courses, but I did not get good marks. Why?”
That is to say, they did everything, they have information, they have the required theoretical knowledge, but during the exam, they did not perform well, they did not succeed to get good marks.
Here, we notice that there is a gap between the theoretical knowledge that teachers give in their classes and the practical knowledge that students need during the exam day.
So, it is clear that:
a. Classes are about theoretical knowledge.
b. Exams are about practice: (Using the knowledge you have to solve a given problem)
For instance, teachers of grammar, teachers of civilization, teachers of literature, etc. get to their regular classes to give their students lectures that are full of information, full of theoretical knowledge, and full of rules.
Do you see?
So, there is plenty of information, plenty of theories, and plenty of knowledge.
Even though some teachers end their sessions by giving some practical exercises to help their students put into practice the theoretical knowledge they got during his/her lectures, there still exists a big gap between the theoretical knowledge students get in their regular classes and the practical knowledge they need to answer the exam questions.
Please, watch the video till the end. it will help you find answers to many questions that you might have thought about before as well as it will leave you with many other questions in mind once you have finished watching. This video was meant to rise some questions that are not discussed in regular classes though their are in the mind of every student. For this reason, I decided to shed light on these questions. I will also try to in the coming videos to discuss other issues related to the mothodology of working to solve exam problems. My first goal is to help learns and students to know how to use their knowledge to answer exam questions.
You will find a continuation to this debate in the coming video. So, please keep in touch.
