Constitutional Case Updates with Marty Moore
Donate to help us make more shows: https://www.faytene.tv/donate
In this episode, we look at the Constitutional freedoms of Canadians.
As Canadian citizens, we can enjoy these freedoms because they are protected and preserved by people who fight to defend them.
We can do that ourselves. However, there are times when our freedoms are challenged, or sometimes even taken away. When that happens, there are lawyers who are specially trained in constitutional law who will stand up and defend us.
One group in Canada that has for many years done an outstanding job of defending our freedoms is the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms. In courts all across our nation, they have stood up for those among us who have had their freedoms and rights violated by the government.
In this episode we have a representative from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms with us, Marty Moore. Marty is the litigation director who leads a team of lawyers who are available if you need their assistance.
Thanks for joining us.

One such group is the Christian Education Movement, which provides resources and practical support to those choosing nontraditional education.
Jake Dyck and Greg Needham are joining us this week to discuss the opportunities and resources they provide.
Whether you are a parent, grandparent or someone in a support role for a family choosing an alternative form of education, this show is for you.

Charities in Canada with John Pellowe
Donate to help us make more shows: https://www.faytene.tv/donate
There are approximately 85,000 charities across Canada.
Whether food banks, women's shelters, places of worship, or kids camps in the summer, charities and nonprofits significantly impact our communities.
Despite this, according to a recent study released by CanadaHelps, the number of Canadians making charitable donations has declined yearly this past decade. Surveys from a decade ago show that 82% of Canadians contributed to charitable organizations. That figure has dropped to 60% in 2023.
While the number of people donating to charities has decreased, the number of people seeking charity help has soared. One in five Canadians is estimated to be using charitable services to meet essential needs.
According to an Ipsos survey commissioned by CanadaHelps in 2023, almost one in seven said it was the first time they had relied on a charity's help. More than 57% of charities cannot meet the current levels of demand.
Those who are giving are giving more. The same CanadaHelps report shows that 2021 tax returns claimed charitable tax donations increased to $11.3 billion, up 43% from 2016.
These combined trends mean that many charities are vulnerable if those giving more cannot continue.
With the increasing need, it is time to roll up our sleeves and support the charitable sector. Despite this, new laws are putting some charities at even more risk.
John Pellowe, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities, is here to discuss the issues. Their vision is for all Christian ministries to operate in an exemplary, healthy, and effective way so that they can fulfill their missions. Thanks for joining us as we discuss the state of Canada's charitable sector.

Canada’s Finances with Franco Terrazzano and Jay Goldberg
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation Debt Clock website says Canada's federal debt is now over $1.2 trillion. When I first began airing the show in 2018, it was not yet half of that.
Our current federal government has more than doubled the federal debt in less than a decade and racked up more debt than all previous governments combined in the previous 150 years.
Each Canadian's portion of the federal debt is over $31,000.
Add your provincial debt portion to this, and you have what you actually owe.
Topping the list is Ontario at over $400 billion and Quebec at $235 billion. Residents in these two provinces owe over $26,000 per person to the provincial debts on top of the $31,000 in federal debt. This means that the average family of four in those provinces owe $200,000 combined in public debt.
Newfoundland and Labrador have the highest debt portion per person at just under $31,000, and Saskatchewan and New Brunswick have the lowest at $14,000 per person for provincial debt.
How does this impact everyday Canadians, families, and businesses? With so much of our taxpayer dollars going to servicing interest on the debt, how is this hurting our critical infrastructure? What does this heavy debt load mean for our children and future generations and for our ability to care for our seniors in the years ahead?
Most economists agree that this type of debt will inevitably lead to higher taxation. And are we seeing that? If so, how and where? These are all important questions.
Here to unpack it all are two repeat guests familiar to you, our viewers: Franco Terrazzano and Jay Goldberg from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is a nonprofit watchdog of public funds. It is committed to keeping Canadians informed about what is happening in this area of taxation and what we can do if we have concerns.

Indigenous Canadians and Reconciliation with Crystal Lavallee
June 21st was National Indigenous People's Day in Canada, a day to celebrate the rich heritage of our nation's Indigenous peoples.
Since 2008, when Prime Minister Stephen Harper led Members of Parliament from all parties in a formal apology for the abuses of residential schools, the issue of national reconciliation has been at the forefront.
The 2008 Apology launched the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). It was tasked with documenting the abuses and their impacts. The TRC detailed 94 calls to action to help bring deeper reconciliation.
In 2021, Indigenous Canadians accounted for 5% of our total population, just under 2 million.
The Indigenous population grew 9.4% from 2016 to 2021, almost twice the pace of growth of non-Indigenous Canadians over that same time period.
According to Stats Canada, they are expected to reach 3 million in the next 20 years.
Over half of First Nations people live in Western Canada, and almost a quarter live in Ontario.
Indigenous peoples and their stories are an integral part of our past, present, and future. This is why I'm excited about the work of our guest today.
Crystal Lavallee is Métis and served as the producer of "First Peoples Voices" with 100 Huntley Street. She is also the Founder and the Director of I Am Compelled. This educational charity uses multimedia presentations to tell the history of Canada from various angles and teach students to give back to their community.
She recently completed a documentary regarding the 1885 Frog Lake Massacre in Saskatchewan and is here today to share all about it and how we, as Canadians, can continue to walk in truth and reconciliation with the Indigenous peoples of Canada. Thank you for joining us.

Quality Care and Physician Conscience Rights with Dr. Terence Davids
Did you know that some physicians in Canada have been reprimanded for exercising their conscience?
On this week’s show, we share one doctor’s story.
Dr. Terence Davids is a physician in Saskatchewan. He is faced disciplinary actions, not for malpractice, but for honouring his conscience by giving a patient other options in an appointment about terminating her pregnancy.
This controversial case raises important questions about the intersection of medical ethics, freedom of conscience for our doctors, and patient care.

59th National Prayer Breakfast Recap
Click here to give to help us make more shows: https://www.faytene.tv/donate
The National Prayer Breakfast takes place every year in our nation's capital. Hundreds of elected officials and leaders from across party lines and across the nation gather to pray together and to pray for Canada.
Last year, we aired highlights from the event, which included statements from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Honourable Pierre Poilievre. Viewers responded so positively that our team decided to feature it once again this year.
The National Prayer Breakfast is an extension of a weekly prayer gathering at Parliament, which includes Members of Parliament and Senators from various parties. Canada was the first nation in the world to establish a National Prayer Breakfast, and Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson addressed the inaugural event in 1964.
This year was the 59th Prayer Breakfast, which took place in early May with a record-breaking 1,300+ people in attendance. We hope today's program will encourage you.

Engaging In Municipal Government with Grace Simon and Monica Singh Soares
When we think about government in Canada, most of us default to referencing the federal government in Ottawa, or our provincial governments.
There is another very important governance layer, and that is our municipal government.
Mayors and municipal councillors are the elected officials who walk the streets with us in our communities every day and regularly observe the needs of our neighbourhoods.
It is for this reason that we are excited to share with you the perspectives of two municipal councillors on this program. They each have an outstanding reputation for listening and caring deeply about the people they serve locally.
Monica Singh Soares is from the Township of Southgate, elected in 2022.
Grace Simon is a returning councillor, serving a second term in the Town of Newmarket.

Who Historically Lived In Israel with The Hon. Stockwell Day
As we are all aware, last fall's invasion of Israel by the terrorist organization Hamas has led to an ongoing conflict in Gaza and Israel, with demonstrations from parties on differing sides all over the world.
Last week, we aired a special segment produced by the Hon. Stockwell Day, former Minister of Foreign Affairs in Canada and also former Leader of the Official Opposition. In those clips, we looked specifically at the origins of Hamas, who they are, their aims, and their expressed goals.
This week, we are picking up the conversation with more insightful analysis, this time looking at the history of the land of Israel, who lived there when, who has a historical claim to the land, and why.
These clips have been pre-prepared by the Hon. Stockwell Day, and they can also be viewed in their complete form on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@Day2DayShow

Who Is Hamas with The Hon. Stockwell Day
Who Is Hamas?
Over six months ago, on October 7th, 2023, Hamas invaded Israel in a brutal assault that led to the bloodshed of thousands.
As we all know, the attack escalated into an ongoing conflict in Gaza with tens of thousands of casualties. Hostages taken from Israel are still being held to this day.
Demonstrations have taken place across Canada, advocating for both sides in the conflict, with some of the most intense protests occurring in the greater Toronto area.
In mid-April, a pro-Palestinian protest on Parliament Hill saw some participants allegedly praising the violence inflicted by Hamas on October 7th.
Leaders of all political parties responded. Prime Minister Trudeau tweeted that there is a difference between peaceful protests and hateful intimidation, condemning the glorification of antisemitic violence and murder perpetrated by Hamas.
NDP leader Jagmeet Singh emphasized Canadians' right to protest while condemning hate, antisemitism, and inciting violence.
Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre also condemned the antisemitic chants and expressed solidarity with Jews in Canada and worldwide.
Ottawa police are now investigating allegations of hate speech during this rally.
With the mounting intensity around this issue, we dedicated a show to the topic of:
Who Is Hamas
This show features special clips created by the Honourable Stockwell Day, former Minister of Foreign Affairs in Canada.
Thank you for joining us for this important conversation.

It’s now spring 2024, andsome food banks are already reporting that they are hitting food bank visit levels that they normally only see at Christmas time.
The need is massive.

Canada's Encampments with Craig Forbes and Joseph Sikora
DONATE | faytene
www.faytene.tv
Homelessness in Canada — whether in plain sight or hidden, has been on the rise.
The Homeless Hub estimates there are 153,000 – 300,000 homeless Canadians.
Recently, we aired a show featuring the work of the Red Shelter Project in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Halifax is just one example of many communities that have seen the homeless population explode in recent years.
Toronto currently has the largest homeless population in Canada, and 44% of Canada’s shelters are in Ontario.
In harsh winter climates, homelessness becomes dangerous, with lives lost to the cold temperatures or tent fires.
To tackle the issue, the Canadian Government is expected to invest two-point-two billion to help with the challenge. In addition to this, municipal and provincial governments nationwide have been pulling together to try and develop meaningful solutions.
The non-profit sector is one group bringing the most meaningful relief to the challenges surrounding homelessness. Overwhelmingly, those serving through churches or other non-profits are the ones in these trenches.
Joining me today are two individuals in that category. Joseph Sikora works with Ground Zero Ministries in Abbotsford, BC, and Craig Forbes is a pastor at Lakemount Worship Centre in Grimsby, Ontario. Both have been working tirelessly to serve and save lives on the front lines of homelessness.
Thanks for joining us.

Using Tech For Good with James Kelly
The Internet and social media have dramatically changed how we do life.
Did you know….
// Over 60% of the human population actively uses social media. (Source: DataReportal)

Canada Taxes and The Debt with Franco Terrazzano and Jay Goldberg
When it comes to Canada’s economy, according to Statistics Canada, there is good news and bad.
The cost of gasoline is down, and inflation has settled to around 4% at the end of 2023 (as opposed to 7% one year prior).
At the same time, the rising cost of living, higher taxes, and increased housing costs have many Canadians struggling to make ends meet.
The federal debt has doubled in the last few years and is now well over 1.2 trillion dollars.
Interest on the federal debt is one of the largest bills that Canadians pay each year, higher than what is budgeted for the Canadian Child Benefit Plan and National Defence.
Joining us today to shed light on the state of Canada’s economy (and other issues) are Franco Terrazzano and Jay Goldberg of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
The federation is a citizen’s advocacy group dedicated to lower taxes, less waste, and accountable governments.
Thanks for joining us.

Housing The Unhoused with Stephen Wilsack and Matt Grant
According to Statistics Canada, almost half of Canadians (44%) were very concerned about their ability to afford housing or rent in the near future (2022).
Over 11% reported that they had personally experienced homelessness at some point in their lives already.
The Canadian Alliance for Homelessness reports that there are possibly over a quarter of a million homeless in Canada.
The need is absolutely massive.
Our guests today, Stephen Wilsack and Matt Grant, were inspired to become part of the solution after visiting a homeless encampment in Halifax. What started out as giving some bedding and supplies has now developed into an operation where they have raised money to erect a small village of ice fishing tents just outside City Hall. They have also been working to equip the tents with heat and power, two things that onlookers believe have already saved lives.
Stephen and Matt are with us to share what they’ve been up to and the impact that they’re having.
Thanks for joining us.

58th National Prayer Breakfast Recap REAIR
Did you know that every single year in Ottawa, elected officials from various federal parties gather together and pray? It’s called the National Prayer Breakfast (NPB). The purpose of the NPB is to unite leaders in our nation’s capital in order to pray together, build relationally, and walk together in the spirit of Jesus Christ.
The event is an extension of a weekly prayer gathering at Parliament, with MPs and senators from various parties participating regularly.
Canada was the first nation in the world to establish a National Prayer Breakfast, with Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson addressing it in its inaugural year in 1964.
This year’s National Prayer Breakfast theme was “A Firm Foundation,” and the lead organizers were MP Richard Bragdon (NB) and MP Damien Kurek (AB).
The event sold out a full month in advance, with 770 Canadians participating (possibly making it the highest-attended NPB in our history).
I had the joy of being there in person with some of our friends and ministry partners.
I’m very excited to share recorded highlights of the event with you today.
All footage is shown with permission from the organizers of the event.

Touching Cities with Service with Brett Esslinger
What does it mean to love our neighbours as ourself? It means seeing the needs of the people in front of us and responding with compassion and generosity. It means making the most of opportunities to be a blessing to others as we would want to be blessed ourselves.
Well, there is an amazing church in Edmonton, Alberta, coordinating with businesses and other nonprofits to be a blessing to those around them.
Early in 2023, Saints Church discovered an incredible opportunity to reclaim return items from realtors, and redistribute them to those in need in the community.
Senior Leader, Brett Esslinger is here to share the inspiring story of CityServe YEG stepping up to be an answer that their communities and neighbours need.
I know this testimony will encourage you, and perhaps even inspire you to multiply this brilliant idea in your community as well.
Thanks for joining us.
Please share.
