Paul explains that man is not justified by the law, but rather by his faith in Jesus Christ. It is Jesus who justifies people, and He will do it according to our faith.

Saul of Tarsus persecutor of the followers of Jesus Christ becomes Paul the Apostle.

Saul leads a violent persecution of the young Jewish church in Jerusalem. He goes from house to house, dragging men and women off to prison.

Jim explains how Stephen's words before the Jews invoke their wrath, and he is stoned to death. Saul sets upon the followers of Christ and the apostles which will ultimately result in his conversion.

Jim explains how Acts Chapter 5 ends with one of the Jewish leaders, Gamaliel, stating that the apostles should be freed to spread their teachings. He proclaimed that if they were wrong, their campaign would fail of its own accord. If true, even their deaths would not stop its advancement through the presence of God. The apostles were eventually released, but not before suffering brutal beatings. They continued on with their preaching and miracles in the name of Jesus. As the number of disciples increased, a conflict began between the Hellenistic Jews and the Hebraic Jews. The former group thought that their widows were being treated unfairly because they were not receiving the same amount of food as other widows. The apostles decided to address this matter with the disciples. They explained that their primary task was to spread the Word of the Lord rather than spending time serving anyone food. The apostles told the disciples to select seven trustworthy people that were known for being very wise and full of the Holy Spirit. Once these seven individuals were in charge of the task of handing out the food, the apostles could return to preaching the Word of God without any disruption. This way, more people could be converted to the faith since the apostles could focus their efforts on preaching. The disciples were very pleased with the suggestion put forth from the apostles. They opted to pick a man named Stephen to be in charge of the task. He was known for his wisdom and also for presenting himself as someone who was filled with the Holy Spirit. As Stephen began doing wonderful things, some people tried to argue with his message. They could not prove him wrong, though. Instead, they bribed people to lie about him, saying that he cursed God and Moses. Stephen was brought to the High Council where the false witnesses testified against him.

Jim expounds on the fact that if you are a Gentile you must understand that in the early chapters of acts Peter and the Apostles are ministering to Jews ONLY. Paul in the later chapter of Acts is ministering to Gentiles, and is to be our example.

Jim gives a chronological account of the historical timeline of the Bible. Exploring through comparison of scripture with scripture he illustrates how God established the covenant with Israel through his law, and then sending Christ to establish a covenant with all through Grace and Faith in him.

In the book of Acts Peter used a comparison to condemn the Jewish religious leaders, stating, "This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone" In biblical times, a cornerstone was used as the foundation and standard upon which a building was constructed. Once in place, the rest of the building would conform to the angles and size of the cornerstone. In addition, if removed, the entire structure could collapse. In the Bible, messianic prophecies spoke of the Messiah as the Cornerstone. Isaiah 28:16 says, "Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion, a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation." Psalm 118:22 speaks of the Messiah, stating, "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." Matthew, Mark, and Luke record Jesus referring to this passage as finding its fulfillment in Him (Matthew 21:42; Mark 12:10; Luke 20:17).

Peter explains that when Jesus was on earth, the people of Jerusalem chose a murderer to be released and for Christ to be killed. However, as it was prophesied, Jesus was raised from the dead and will come again. He said that Jesus was given to them so that they may be cleansed of their sins and salvation can be received only through Him.

There are many gospel messages in the Bible. Some Christians fail to see the difference in the gospel message revealed to the apostle Paul from other gospels in the Bible, then what the church preaches becomes uncertain and causes confusion. Jim explores the differences and provides context to this often misunderstood topic.
