When don Miguel speaks of the “Third State", he is making reference to the Rosicrucian doctrine of the “Four States”. In the segment of “The Golden Cord” in which this theme is treated, the Master states: “The Rosicrucians speak of four states (The Four, the Hyperborean Clover, the Leftward Swastika, the Rose). The first two states refer, without doubt, to Solar Epochs that have already passed. In the Third State, the power has been usurped by the Pope. The Papal diadem truly belongs to the Imperator. The Rosicrucians attempt to restore the Throne where power is connected to the Unseen Guides before a new End of the World, a new Age, or Kalpa, comes about. A mysterious character, a sort of prophet and mage, who will appear in the future, he shall regain the sense of Transcendent Power, first for the West, and then for all the world. It is useful to know that, as always, behind the visible Rosicrucian Imperator there is also an invisible character, a Double, the Mah (in the Inner Earth or in the Parallel World of the Green Order?)

Este breve capítulo de "La Serpiente del Paraíso", libro escrito principalmente en India, publicado en 1960, aparentemente una sección menor dentro de la obra, es realmente el relato poético de un quiebre fundamental en camino místico del Maestro Serrano, que describe el momento de la separación con su Maestro de toda la vida, quien siempre vivió cosas extrahumanas, increíbles, prisionero de mitos gigantescos. Si bien para ambos la incursión en el más allá fue "una guerra real y sin cuartel" donde estuvieron siempre del mismo lado, tras la búsqueda en India había imágenes que ahora ya eran incompatibles con el camino que el discípulo estaba abriendo para otros, y ese quiebre se hizo símbolo de ruptura en el "crucificado". Ya no era posible para el Maestro Serrano comprender a Jesús sino a través de una imagen propia, desprovista de todo vínculo teosófico o judeocristiano, pues ahora el único Cristo posible para él era el Cristo de la Atlántida, es decir, el "Cristo de Miguel Serrano", que siempre fue un arquetipo ario, el arquetipo de Wotan, el crucificado en el Irminsul.

This brief chapter of "The Serpent of Paradise", a book written mainly in India, published in 1960, apparently a minor section within the work, is really the poetic narration of a fundamental break in the mystical path of Meister Serrano, which describes the moment of separation from his lifelong Master, who always lived in a manner which could be considered extra-human, a prisoner of gigantic myths. It was no longer possible for the Meister Serrano to understand Jesus except through his own image, devoid of any theosophical or Judeo-Christian link, since now the only Christ possible for him was the Christ of Atlantis, that is, the "Christ of Miguel Serrano", who was always an Aryan archetype, the archetype of Wotan, the one crucified on the Irminsul.
