WATCHING THE DAYS GO BY VERSE 1 Who’d have thought that freedom and laughter soon would become despair, Our future looked so bright and exciting, living without a care. Working hard but still time to play, the vision for young and old, Individuality never fits the mold. CHORUS We are holding on in the hope that one day we can have back our freedom, Living and loving, hoping and praying, watching the days go by. VERSE 2 Schools were happy places where children’s families were intact, Not afraid to question if what we are taught is really fact We were given choices, not forced against our will. Medical procedures, we fear will maim or kill. CHORUS VERSE 3 Any season we’d spend our days together down by the beach, Dance was always a part of life, and music our souls would reach, Soon it would be made crystal clear, what glitters isn’t gold Now we’re left in disbelief, our dreams have all been sold. CHORUS REFRAIN 1 Attacked without warning, the enemy can’t be seen, Lives are shattered like they’ve never been. Fear and delusion, how can we stay sane? Turning on each other, it’s not humane. BRIDGE Will I laugh again, or just cry? Will I know the truth from a lie? REFRAIN 2 We’re not permitted to move, keeping 6 feet apart, knowing our family, Are forced to wear a mask, die of a broken heart, So that we’re all virus free. REFRAIN 3 Fear we should take a test, curfew, house arrest, Brute forces put in place, Mankind’s fall from grace, Children laugh with delight, now there’s hope in sight, To save the human race… VERSE 4 We must now ensure that no one forgets how great life can be, Reminisce about the good old days so our future generations come to see, All the things that truly make us human now won’t be hidden in our history, And the life that we have now been offered can never take the place of being free.
