Seals have a layer of fat under skin called blubber, which keeps them warm in cold water. Their slick fur coat is streamlined for gliding through water. A seal's whiskers help it to detect prey in dark murky waters. Seals live on average for 25 - 30 years, females usually live longer than males.

Since the day an elephant calf is born, it relies heavily on its mother. The calves get their nutrients from their mother’s milk for the first few years. They get weaned off between five to 10 years. Typically, this is the time when they can survive on solid vegetation like grasses. During the infant stage, they rely heavily on their mothers for nutrients, hygiene and to learn survival skills. They learn how to use their trunks for feeding, drinking and bathing. Plus, they learn everything about how to avoid dangers. Just like humans, the infant years are critical to learning necessary survival skills.

Alpacas are the smallest members of the camel family. The average height at the shoulder is 3 feet (91.4 centimeters) They are 4 to 7 feet (120 to 225 cm) long and weigh 121 to 143 lbs. (55 to 65 kilograms). Alpacas are the most important of the lamoids for fleece production. Alpacas are normally sheared every two years, yielding fine fleeces of about 3 kg (6.5 pounds) per animal. Hair growth in two years is about 30 cm (12 inches). Individual fibres within the fleece range from about 20 to 40 cm in length at the time of shearing. Alpacas have a natural life span of 15–20 years.

Cats are believed to be the only mammals who don't taste sweetness. Cats are nearsighted, but their peripheral vision and night vision are much better than that of humans. Cats are supposed to have 18 toes (five toes on each front paw; four toes on each back paw). Cats can jump up to six times their length.

Ladybugs mating! Each species of ladybug has its own pheromones for attracting a mate. When they find each other, the male grips the female from behind and holds on tight. They can copulate (stay together) for more than 2 hours at a time. Female ladybugs can store a male's sperm for 2-3 months before laying eggs.

Dogs can learn over 100 words and gestures, which puts their intelligence and understanding of us on a par with a two year old. However, dogs are much easier to train than a two year old! They’re used for all sorts of jobs, from military roles to assistance dogs, because they’re both clever and extremely loyal animals.
