The Lonely Baker - an original song by Peter Trappen
A song I wrote while snowed in one winter in Michigan USA. In a Dylan-esque style, the lyrics are stream of consciousness images and alliteration. My housemates Mickey and Dean helped a bit with the lyrics. After making toasted cheese sandwiches and setting fire to a tapestry by accident, we decided to write a song. The lyrics come from topical subjects in the local news that week. And this was the result...
Done on my new 12 string which is bringing me much needed inspiration during the ongoing lockdown / pandemic of 2020/21. I've lowered the strings to D to relieve tension on the neck and put a Capo on the 2nd fret to bring it up to standard E tuning.
:::LYRICS:::
THE LONELY BAKER
He was the lonely baker of Hollywood
A sunshine dealer, county seater
Otis Tortoise wrote a book about
Barking dogs and hollow log sleepers
Holy man’s mother’s weeping
Old Tom Renick told us of a shady lady named Waiting Katie
Instep shoeshine, elbow grease
And Old Mac Stevens getting even in the 3rd race
So say your grace
He was the lonely baker of Ha a-ha a-ha Hollywood
The liars and the fakers
Knew they had it good, had it good
Desperado’s dirty dealing
a wicker basket case he’s weaving
Cadillac’s and Russian guns
Insight set on having fun
A 2 step slide queen over by the phone booth
They crossed the bridge before they saw
The blood in the back of a rented Dodge
When Lucky Lucy lost her dog and
Painted pictures in the fog
The tapestries are burning on the wall
and that ain't all...
He was the lonely baker of Ha a-ha a-ha Hollywood
The liars and the fakers
Knew they had a-ha a-ha had it good,
so what did he do?
Well I ask you people what would you do?
If you were in his shoes?

Ain't This A Fine Day
An original song I wrote in honor of Springtime. Fingerpicked on my new Guild 2512E 12 String Jumbo and recorded for the 1st time here today. I wrote this song after visiting a Bluegrass festival in Kentucky. It would sound nice, I think, with some harmonies and a banjo / fiddle playing along. Don't you? Fond memories of my younger days in Michigan driving the country roads with my friends...
Lyrics: Ain't This A Fine Day
Head for the country mon we'll smoke a few
Happy days are coming with the Springtime new
Feel the sun a-shining, feel it's long overdue
Flyin' with the wind and blowin' out a tune
Laughing and singing with the radio
Got a happy feeling with a girl I know
Flying with the wind breezing
Smiling with the sun shining
Toking with my friends and joking
Ain’t this a fine, fine day
Ain’t this a fine, fine day
I got a good-god feeling
I got a happy-day feeling
deep inside ... of me
SOLO
See the sun a shining down it’s melting the snow
A drink of wine, I’m feeling fine
I’m mellow, mellow, mellow
Ain’t this a fine, fine day
Ain’t this a fine, fine day
I got a good-god feeling
I got a happy-day feeling
deep inside ... of me

Treetop Flyer - a Demo by Peter Trappen
My version of this great tune: "Treetop Flyer" by Steven Stills. I've had many requests for this one over the years. Stills has claimed this is his "Heart of Gold" song because it has "legs" and is played the world 'round more than any of his other tunes. Neil Young had a massive hit with Heart of Gold.
This version is played on my Guild Westerly 2512E 12 String guitar which is made in China but after watching many review videos, I took a chance and it has turned out to be a great guitar. A jumbo build which has massive tone. The craftsmanship is quality work, the wood grain straight and bindings are well done.
I have it tuned down a whole step in order to lower the stress on the neck, with a Capo on the 2nd fret to bring it up to normal tuning. For this song, the lower E string is tuned down to D. (Dropped D tuning)

Shanty - A demo by Peter Trappen
A demonstration of my Harmonica technique using a neck brace. This song is very popular, known as the "Friday Song". It's all about a cozy little "Shanty". Written by Jonathan Edwards and made famous in the early 1970s. My method of playing a "harp" involves placing my tongue on the left side of the blowhole that allows me to bend the notes and create trills as if I were holding it in my hands. Unlike the traditional way which calls for curling the tongue and blowing out the center. Capische?

Getaway by Peter Trappen
An original tune set to views of a snowy road trip through the country roads of Surrey County England. The song is about getting away from the hustle of the city and work a day world - I thought the scenes of snow would compliment the urge to escape to a sunny climate.

Wish You Were Here - A Demo by Peter Trappen
A demonstration of my new Guild F-2512E Westerly Maple 12 String Jumbo acoustic guitar. This is a tune by Pink Floyd I have had many requests for over the years. I've tuned the guitar down a whole step to D to reduce stress on the neck. I've put a Capo on the 2nd fret to bring it back up to E.
