Friedrich Nietzsche: Exit out of the Labyrinth
This video was a long time coming but here we are with a solar eclipse Oct 14th that conjuncts the solar return chart of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. So his message to us is timely for the turbulence of 2023. That much is clear. This is a turning point moment in 2023 and we need to be more metaphysical. He was a true Libran inspired by art, who loved to communicate and is a lot more influential that many give him credit for.
I first noted his Saturn was at 0° of Aquarius back in 2020 on the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter on the winter solstice which I find hugely interesting. I think he is totally relevant for 2023 and it's time to go back to what he said in his books, as many are already doing, and read it all afresh. He wanted to Reevaluate all Values, which he set out to do and seems to be what we in 2023 need to do before all is lost.
It is in 8 parts so take your time to work through them and return to it if needed.

Florence Farr and the Magical Imagination
This astro-biography is about Florence Farr who was an actress on the West End stage and leader of the Golden Dawn at the turn of the 19th-20th Century. She's not as well known as she might be, but more people are coming to know that there was a lot more to her. It covers everything about her why she was a great muse who inspired poets and playwrights while working out her own way in life. It delves into her chart but also uses asteroids in some detail.
It is divided into six parts. Please use the timestamps of the six parts to navigate to where you want, or enjoy the whole piece.
Timestamps
0:00 Introduction
01: 43 Florence Farr and the Magical Imagination
06:07 Farr as the Bohemian Muse of the Era
16:22 Mistress of the Isis-Urania Temple
23:56 The Four Asteroid Archetypes of the Golden Dawn
30:10 Farr's Personal Asteroids: Florence, Vesta, Urania, Polyhymnia and Isis
45:13 Final Years in Ceylon
She multi-talented with a striking presence and voice and people called her the Bohemian's Bohemian. She eventually left London to teach in a girls' school in Ceylon. On July 8th 2023 her play ' The Shrine of the Golden Hawk' was recited once again so she is back in the minds of many.
It is timed to celebrate all people with sun in Cancer, as she was Cancerian but Leos will understand her too as she had many Leonine qualities too.

Eclipse Season is Here
Debbie asked me to explain eclipses after reading my article. We have a solar eclipse Thursday April 20th, at 29 of Aries and a Lunar Eclipse on May 5th at 15 of Scorpio-Taurus. Then there's another two eclipses later in the year October-November. They come in pairs. This year 2023 there are only 4.
There is so much to say about eclipses that this is just a brief introduction. Read more in the article 'Make Way for the Eclipses'.
A good idea though is to locate the degrees in your natal chart and see if they align with the angles, planets or any other points in the chart. That way you can get a better idea if it will affect you. The Solar Eclipse will be significant because it encourages us to be that pioneer we wanted to be, it may arrange life to push us into something challenging where we have to prove this, to be more independent, going it alone etc. It is square to Pluto and that will affect the collective with its intensity. It is not necessarily bad but could be bumpy.
But otherwise we may not notice it passing but then later on realise something vital has passed out of our lives. I compare them to revolving doors. It's good to pay attention to the changes and transformations coming our way, we may need to fortify our energies and our resilience.

Talking About Astrology
This is a brief interview with Debbie Elliot, author and editor of 'Hermes Risen' magazine.
I talk about what astrology is and is not, about all the different 'Astrologies' - plural rather than singular - about Horary, how it answers questions and finds lost objects, Astro-locational astrology and the aesthetics of the Tropical system, its inner symmetry and beauty based on the seasons, the solstices and equinoxes, the ages of growth from young to old and the pictorial depiction of the sun's path across in the ecliptic represented in the natal horoscope design. Its division into 3 modalities and 4 elements. Also about sidereal astrology and its equal value but how that is often confused.
We also talk about asteroids, and using astrology to promote intuition, self development and its use in astro-biography where it becomes like a forensic tool for determining character and intent, and even the quality of their experiences on a particular day for example where someone received a beatific download as Krishnamurti did in California and Ra Uhuru Ra in Ibiza.
And we talk about Florence Farr, leading West End actress, author and poet and leading member of the original Golden Dawn. A performance of her plays is coming up in July.

The Supernatural in Bali Reading Chapter 13 from Sekala and Niskala
This is a third video on Bali. It's a reading of Chapter 13 'The Supernatural: Spooks, Demons and Unseen Forces Spirits' from Fred B Eiseman Jnr 's book 'BALI: Sekala and Niskala; Essays on Religion, Ritual and Art'. It adds to the fascination many people have with this island.
It seems seems to be part of a growing series.

2023 An Astrological Preview
Overall Forecast for 2023: New Beginnings
This is an astrological forecast for 2023 - something new for me- and I structured it into 3 parts. You might want to go where you want to start and then backtrack as needed for a fuller picture.
1) A Backwards Glance 2022
2) Main Astrological Events of 2023
3) Individual Zodiac Sign Forecasts: Aries to Pisces
Proteus Astrology uses western tropical astrology with a strong emphasis on archetypal and psychological themes, so that is the style throughout. The way to understand what is being said is to think 'archetypes' and archetypal patterns and that astrology is a symbolic language through which we can interpret the world, but there are different interpretations possible. A personal chart reading is always advised to obtain more details.
I ran into several technical issues with this one so it was delayed over a week after the written version was published. It was due on the 18th. The music clips have not played so I might be reuploading this next week to include those, so sorry for anyone who comments, but it is another glitch.

1) I said Pluto moves into Aquarius on March 28th but i meant to say March 24th.
2) I said Mercury goes retrograde in Leo on August 29th but it should be August 24th.
3) I think I also said Pluto moves direct on Oct 15th when it should be the 12th.

Dion Fortune: Sea Priestess of Avalon
This is all about Dion Fortune, but first, Jupiter is on the move and concentrating his energy in forward motion which is good news. Marina Abramovic channels Maria Callas in 'the Seven Deaths of Callas', the opera, they have parallel features in their respective charts, as the Moon Priestess in Norma and that is Dion Fortune as the first performance of Norma aligns with Dion Fortune's Ascendant. So this is all ruled by Jupiter and heavily laden with the Sagittarian archetype, the centaur and centauress.
There's a full analysis of Dion Fortune: her life and chart, her character, her books, her style, her fight with Moina Mathers, and her huge influence on everyone, her NDE experience, her link to Glastonbury and her magical battle for Britain on the inner planes.

CORRECTIONS: Please forgive two mistakes while recording this.
1: Robert Graves was born 1895- I meant to say that it was the whole decade really, including people like Osbert Sitwell, born 1892, who also wrote about supernatural topics. See the film 'A House of One's Own.
2: Margaret Lumley Brown was as I said a fellow Sagittarian to Dion Fortune so was born 7th December. I said 'September' for some reason known only to my mouth.
If there are other errors, please let me know.

Time, Space and Astrology in Bali
This is in the video-essay style as it ranges freely across several subjects, mainly astrology in Bali and the locational astrology of Chaplin, Spies and Bonnet, but also be prepared for the weaving in of megaliths, temple architecture, mythology, art, psychology, performance and travelogue commentary. I think Montaigne is the originator of this personal essay form and if he had had a You Tube channel his style would be deep and meandering in this manner, but with all the added visuals. It's really a meditation on Bali and all that I learned there and I feel happy that I managed to get there and see for myself what the mystique is all about. Even David Bowie wanted his ashes scatted over Bali. Now I know why.
I'll do another one just inspired by 'where the waters flow'. All about Bali. So watch out for that to follow.
Just to be clear - it did not come across clearly- the calculation is 6 x 35 = 210 and the 7 is matched to the 5 days of the week to form the 35 day month.
Deep thanks is due to all the people I met in Bali who helped me scratch the surface and explore this island and who bothered to answer my bothersome questions. Thanks to Didi in Ubud, and Ngourah at Danaas Guest house on https://www.facebook.com/ngurahgusti70

Proust and his Time Capsule of Curiosities
So it was Proust's solar return on July 10th. Marcel Proust has long fascinated people through his work - a long novel 'In Search of Lost Time' . Why read it? Because it exists. It is crammed full of reflections, insights, humour, wisdom, acute social observations, and lots of duchesses with very little to do but chit-chat. This video weaves together many strands from his life, not just with his astrology but with his personal life, loves and hates, his synastry with various lovers, his reflections on time, fate, destiny and on his own death, his personal Daimon, and the films made from his book. So it's an audio-visual documentary of sorts- and I'm experimenting with this format as it goes way beyond what's possible in the print medium.
Proust's long elastic sentences fascinate me as they are the very antithesis and antidote of today's soundbites and tweets. No dumbing down. What we need is this luminous Cancerian light poured into words that oblige us to think deeply.
It's a labour of love and involved a lot of reading, thinking, collating and editing items, all good for this stay-at-home season of Cancer. Also, check the images and music for the holistic 'immersion' type of astrobiography experience which includes the music and the paintings that Proust loved.
Get a cup of tea and morsel of cake and listen at your leisure to ponder all things Proustian that rest in the moment but take you out of time.

All About Eros: Part 1
This is Part 1 of a 3-Part series on Eros and the fruit of research into everything to do with Eros from different perspectives: the astrology/asteroid viewpoint, the mythological stories, the archetypal and psychological layers. It is a full meditation on Love taking clues from Greek mythology.
1: All About Eros
2: Eros through the Zodiac signs
3: Eros Conjunct the Planets
Part 1 includes ideas about Eros and Thanatos ( Love and Death), Freud, Nietzsche, the story of Eros and Psyche and what that means, the Erotes - different sub-components of love, with ideas, the four stages of love from Richard Idemon, plus ideas from Marcilio Ficino and Giordano Bruno. All of this is linked to the astrology of the asteroid Eros where Eros is conjunct the Sun on this April 30th Lunar Eclipse.

It took me ages to produce in the January treacle and Retrograde energy but is good enough to last until the next Equinox- the Aries ingress March 20 2022 when a new chart will preside, and then to the next Solstice in summer.
If you feel from this you would like to go to a stone circle, then definitely follow that inner calling. It is worth it.

Master of Masters: Enter Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee was a martial arts phenomenon who represents the teacher-student archetype of Sagittarius, the centaur, the hybrid, a powerful combination of physical but also metaphysical native. The man-philosopher. He bridged many cultural gaps. He was double Sag, with the Sun on the Ascendant in Sagittarius and a chart ruled by Jupiter. But he also had very intense Scorpio placements. His message to us at the end of 2021 is to be more like him, ready for anything, not beholden to any particular beliefs, and to never quit, be the small guy that brings down the big guy- the crime lords.

The Cosmic Wrestling Match: Uranus and Saturn
This video gives us a blast of Uranus who is really Prometheus the bringer of fire, and it talks about this square of Uranus with Saturn this year. It covers the archetypal message, the mythology, and how Uranus may be affecting everyone and what to do about it. A great exemplar of Uranus is Patrick McGoohan, and an exemplar of some of the negative side of Saturn is Josef Stalin. These two planets seem evenly pitched in battle but somehow Uranus wins out.

When is a Muse not a Muse?
This is another meditation on a theme which is presented as a visual essay with the written version on my site. It communicates through visual imagery. But I have added a soundscape too to put us in the mood. I’m still learning these skills so if it seems abrupt and the editing is not yet as smooth as I would like - but next one will be more polished. I never know where the topic will lead me when I start, I just follow the hunch wherever it leads. This one started with watching a horror film but veers into mythology, poets and poetry, fairy folk, the language of film, W.B. Yeats’ astrology and muse asteroids and the origins of certain archetypes and it asks 'when is a muse not a muse?' I think they are benign but in the film they are malevolent more like the seven deadly sins. It mainly explores different ways how we define what muses actually are. King of the Gods in the House of Spirituality: Jupiter in Pisces
This video explains the mythology, symbolism and psychological nuances of the archetypes of Jupiter/Zeus and Neptune/Poseidon as this week May 14th 2021 Jupiter moves into Pisces and the champagne corks may be popping but always good to remember that Jupiter acts like a helium balloon and overblows everything it touches. Neptune in Pisces too is wearing away at our sense of reality.
There is an examination the character of Jupiter and of Neptune and some of the transits coming leading to the conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune next April 2022. It also shows how this might affect you based on the position of Pisces in your natal chart, going through the Houses. I hope it is of interest. I use Western Tropical astrology and can be found at www.proteusastrology.co.uk
