It was so humbling to see the first one I made for someone. I honestly had mixed emotions. I instantly thought: “Matt! What were you thinking???” Then I started smiling knowing that I put in the time and hard work to improve myself. Even when it cost me countless hours and a drained bank account at times. I remember when I first watched the movie: The Patriot with Mel Gibson. I watched it over and over and became obsessed with the: Captain Benjamin Martin Tomahawk. I kept pausing the DVD to try to mimic the designs of this Hawk as I was using a pencil to draw on the handle. Although not perfect, I was happy with it at the time. Fast forwarding to present day this serves as a humble reminder that skills must be worked on. When you feel that “hit” or inspiration towards something, that often times not than not is a good indication that you have a “gift” for that thing which inspires you. It’s a compass that is pointing you True North if you learn to listen. Art is more about Intuition more than logic. Logic is INVOLVED, but intuition steers the ship.
