Groin Strikes - The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
Hey Everybody! Tim Larkin here. Today I'm going to talk about one of those misunderstood targets out there, the groin. Fodder for comedy since probably when we were in caves. However, I will attempt to take the mystery out of groin strikes, and give you a better understanding of how it relates to self-defense. I will go over several examples from sports and give you the physiological facts of what is happening.

Problems with Groundfighting/BJJ
Hey Everybody! Tim Larkin here with more self-protection information. Today we're going to discuss ground fighting, aka, Ground and Pound. I have an example from the ring, and two examples from the street. The take-away from this is, again, situational awareness and using the best tools for the job. In the two street fighting examples, we see the drawbacks of focusing only on the opponent, and the weaknesses introduced from being on the ground. I end with a very sad example from 2015 in Rio, in which a master practitioner loses his life because he used a competition move with an adversary only interested in causing injury.

It's What You Dont Understand That Kills You
Hey Everybody! It's Tim Larkin here again with more information for your self-protection. Today I go over an interview I gave on the excellent podcast, Strangers Worth Meeting. It's by Tyler Hixson. Check out the link below. I wanted to discuss a revelation that Tyler had while reading my book, When Violence Is The Answer. It's something that I touch on, again, and again, and again. The difference between Social Aggression and Anti-social Violence. There are two rules books, and understanding the clear division between the two can be very calming and part of a holistic approach to self-defense training. In general, just being a very nice person can get out of most situations.

The Karma of Studying Violence in Self Protection
I'm going to share a clip from a recent podcast I did with somebody named Tyler Hixon from the “Strangers Worth Meeting” podcast really cool guy.
He reached out to me after he read my book and we discussed various things and one of the things he talked about was: If, people study violence, does more violence come into her life? This is a concern I get all the time from people that really haven't trained. I answer that question. I answer what my experience has been with people who are highly trained individuals.

Martial Arts "Parlor Tricks" Are Completely Worthless in Actual Self Defense
Hey everybody, Tim Larkin here. I am going to do one of the sections that I've been wanting to do for a while. I call it the martial arts “parlor tricks” There's a lot of showmanship that goes on in the martial arts they can be impressive meaning the person had to train to be able to control these situations. But they are completely worthless in a real-world Self Defense Scenario.
Target Focus Training never goes down the "parlor trick" route. We teach actionable active self protection awareness.

10:34 The human body cannot control a response to pain if there is chaos
11:46 It is worthless to try to condition an area of the human body to pain
12:18 Violence puts multiple strikes and injuries in the human body

A Tragedy In Rome
Hey Everbody! Today's video covers a completely avoidable tragedy in Rome. An incident in a Rome train station is a great example of the Three Day Test. It was something that was avoidable by both parties. Now women have been telling me they don't think a lot of the situations I speak about apply to them, and unfortunately, that is so wrong. This is a great example for both genders on what to avoid. The tool of violence is not to be played with, and it's a rare, rare, *rare* situation that requires it. Just being nice and walking away is a very effective tool to avoid most situations.

Best KO Nobody Knows About
Hey Everybody! Tim Larkin here with another self-protection video. Today we talk about an area of the body that can give huge results. The neck and the Phrenic & Vagus nerves can be used to basically shut down the body. It's the connection between the heart and the brain. I'll show you four examples of this being used, ranging from instruction, combat training, combat sports, and real-life altercations.

Hey Everybody! Today I'm going to cover some key self-defense concepts. Not all of training is physical, and a lot of these key concepts are about minimizing the chances you will need to deal with violence at all. I go over these concepts with Lewis Howes and his awesome podcast, The School Of Greatness. We cover three different situations, and what you can learn from them.

Pepper Spray Fail
Hey Everybody! Today's topic is pain versus injury. Defensive measures like pepper spray are usually not your best option and can give a false sense of security. Sometimes they work, but when they don't, it can leave you compromised with your life at risk. Tolerance for pain is highly variable, and some people use pepper spray on tacos.

Never Teach Them A Lesson
Hey Everybody! Tim Larkin here again. Today we cover two examples of anti-social aggression that were completely avoidable. Very similar situations, yet one was lethal. There's no such thing as "just teaching them a lesson". When you roll the dice and have a choice, that's not self-defense. It's a surefire ticket to the legal system and regret. The only time the tools I teach are acceptable is where you are devoid of choice.

The 21ft Rule Revisited
Hey Everybody! Tim Larkin here again. Today we cover the 21ft rule by Dennis Tueller and some of the myths associated with it. We'll go over an interview with Mr. Tueller, and I'll give my comments. The Biggest Security Threat
Hey Everybody! In Today's video, we discuss the subject of situational awareness, and the one piece of technology we all have; Our phones. When we lose ourselves in our phones and have our earbuds in, we are giving up two sensory systems; Our eyes and our ears. This makes us a perfect profile and target for predators. We'll go over two examples from the streets of London and a bus in Seattle. The bus is an amazing example because right in the middle of a situation with a firearm, the guy takes the time to protect his phone and put it in his pocket! So be aware of what these amazing devices are giving to us, and taking away.
