How to draw geranium leaves with pencil. I'll show you how to draw a realistic, but relatively simple geranium leaf with graphite pencils. I had cut a geranium or pelargonium leaf (whichever you wanna call them) to use as a reference and I was drawing in a sketchbook using an HB pencil and a mechanical pencil. Relaxing lupine flower plein air tutorial. I sketched a lupine outdoors by a lake. This video is something between a speed drawing, a tutorial and an ASMR video, since the pencil drawing itself is sped up but I recorded birds singing and other sounds by the lake for background noise. So, it's a speed drawing with ambiance sounds, where I also talk you through the process of how to draw lupine flowers. Are your soft pastels or chalk pastels getting dirty with pastel dust? Here's a quick tip on how to clean pastels with rice. Let's see if it works! You can also use this tip for storing your pastels and even for traveling with them without having them rub off on each other getting dirty and breaking into pieces. You can reuse the rice and apparently even clean it with water, when it gets to dirty to clean the pastels. Just don't soak soak it in water for too long. Do you really need to prime cardboard before painting? I'm comparing primed VS unprimed cardboard with opaque acrylic paints. Tutorial on how to edit scanned, traditional art in GIMP 2.10 for art prints. #GIMP is a free image editing software. This is an updated version of my older video, where I used a different version of GIMP, although most of the basic things you need to edit your scanned artwork have not changed. Showing you some tips on how to store your artwork while I'm organizing my art! I recently saw Baylee Jae's "Organizing My Art" video and it inspired me to film my own artwork organization. This is only for the art on paper that I don't frame. I have canvas, canvas board, cardboard and framed paintings either hanging on the wall or otherwise on display. Storing art you don't display in folders and plastic sleeves protects them from light and dust. You can find similar folders to the ones I'm using at office supply stores. You might also find free, used folders, plastic sleeves and plastic pockets at universities, libraries and offices, when they hand out their old office supplies. The binders I'm using are disc-bound binders (which I called ring binders in the video) and clip files (for punched plastic pockets) and their corresponding plastic pockets. How to draw a lupine - soft pastel flower tutorial. Today I'm showing you how I draw lupines using pastels. I'm sketching a lupine flower with a pastel pencil, just to get the general shape and then drawing and coloring with soft pastels. I blend the colors with a cotton swab and finally spray fixative on the finished painting to make it less likely to smudge. You still can't for example wipe the drawing, because that will smudge it anyway. Fixative helps prevent smudges from light touching only. I'm drawing a maple tree with charcoal in this plein air drawing tutorial. How to make pressed flower art. I'm pressing flowers and leaves in a book and using them to create floral patterns on cardboard. I'm scanning and editing them digitally into a seamlessly repeating pattern for my Redbubble shop, but the original ones can of course be framed, they'll look pretty as wall art. You can also use this technique for making cards, such as summer greeting cards or invitations. I'll show you how to make seamless repeating patterns in GIMP. I'm scanning a watercolor painting, editing the scan in GIMP, turning it into a repeating pattern also in GIMP and uploading it to my Redbubble shop. I've made two similar videos before about making a repeating pattern in GIMP. This one differs from them in that the painting has a background so you have to do blending, but other than that, it's the same process. And click offset. Now you can see the edges between the repeated images. We have to blend those in so that the pattern looks seamless. I'm using the clone tool and making the brush size bigger and then choosing the area I want to clone by pressing down ctrl and clicking the part I want to copy. I'm also decreasing the opacity to make the blending smooth. And then I'm just painting over the harsh lines I want to blend out. When I think I'm done with the clone stamping, I'm gonna fill out the empty area in the middle. I open another copy of the edited painting and cut out two eggs with the free select tool, I copy them by pressing ctrl C and go back to the repeating unit and paste them with ctrl V. I'm also using the rotate tool to turn them in different positions so they don't look too similar to the original eggs I copied. I also turn the eggs into new layers. I export the whole thing as a PNG to make sure the extra eggs are included in the image. How to clean an acrylic paint palette. Is your plastic palette covered with dried acrylic paint? I'll show you how to clean it. The palette I'm using is from Ikea and it has the letters PP and it's made out of polypropylene. To get the dry acrylic paint to peel off, I'm simply soaking the palette in hot water. Leave it in till you notice the acrylic starts peeling off. I previously made a video trying to clean a polystyrene plastic palette from dried acrylic in different ways and it did not work this well, so pay attention to what type of palette you use for acrylics. I often use little containers I can close to keep the paint wet longer, since acrylic dries so fast. I might also put the palette inside a plastic bag and keep it in the fridge if I have leftover paint and want to continue the painting the next day. I collect the dried acrylic paint pieces into a glass jar, but I don't know what to do with them. If you have any suggestions on what to do with these colorful pieces of dried acrylic or what type of palettes work well with acrylic paints, please do share them in the comments. I'm painting an elephant for Holi, the Indian Festival of Colors and talking about how to combine watercolor and acrylics and sponge painting and splattering paint for a #Holi powder like effect for the background.
