Shooting My New Kaya KTB-Korean Traditional Bow
I am shooting my new Kaya KTB-genuine Korean Traditional Bow.
I bought this bow to shoot long distances down in the dry Playa Lake at the City Park when no one is around.
I am shooting at my new 32" Round Archery Target from Delta McKenzie.

Testing More Arrows I Repaired
I save up damaged arrows and repair several at a time. Then it's out to the side of the house to test the repaired arrows. If I can get them to hit relatively close, I figure they are good enough for my backyard fun. I have quite a few different arrows, but tend to prefer the Gold Tip Traditional Carbon Arrows with the look of wood from Lancaster Archery.

Today I Had to Test Damaged Arrows That I Repaired
Most archers accumulate damaged arrows. Some of us accumulate more. We may get new arrows that do not have the inserts properly glued in or hot waxed in, so the points come out when we remove the arrows from the targets, or in my case, the fence boards. I had to replace some feathers and plastic vanes and several nocks. I used a new video editor for this video so I kept it short. I was shooting the Wasp Recurve Bow. The replacement field points came from Lancaster Archery.

Shooting the Wasp Recurve Bow at the Delta McKenzie 32" Round Archery Target
In this second round of testing the Delta McKenzie 32" Round Archery Target, I shot the 50# Wasp Recurve Bow.I was testing the Cartel Site that I added to the bow. The arrows were still easy to remove with the arrow puller. The target face was one I use for my pellet guns. The arrows are difficult to see agains the green, but I will be using standard brightly colored archery target faces so I should be able to see the arrows better.

Shooting My Long Bow Perpendicular and Then Canted
I shot arrows that were not spine marked. Then I shot new arrows that were spine marked at 500 and 600. These came from Lancaster Archery. I was testing arrow penetration on my new 32" Round Archery Target from Delta McKenzie. No arrows penetrated through to the back and the holes did self-heal. I think I shoot better when canting the bow.

Lots of Fun Hits on Rinehart Ball Archery Target
I set up an inexpensive site from Lancaster Archery on my recurve bow in order to learn how to use one.I had fun shooting at the Round Ball Archery Target made by Rinehart Archery, I love their targets. I can leave them outside and the arrows are easily removed. When hitting the ball, it spins around offering more visible spots. Don't shoot out the flat bottom side as the sand will spill out. I managed to hit the ball and nail it to the paper plate. Some days are just great fun. I am shooting from 22 yards with a 39# recurve bow.

Scorpion Long Bow vs. Tennis Ball
Shooting the Southwest Archery Scorpion Long Bow at a tennis ball at 22 yards.
Shooting at the new burlap bag too. Some of these Chinese Arrows have wraps over the leading edge of the feathers. The wraps come loose sometimes. Shooting at the Rinehart Ball too. I like shooting at the ball because it spins around. No, I have not had any arrows glance off the ball so far. Then back out to the backyard where I was shooting at another target.

Shooting My Spider Recurve Bow at a Six Inch Yellow Paper Plate and a Zombie
In my backyard, I am shooting at a six inch yellow paper plate from about 22 yards. I like the yellow plate because I can see the arrows. Then I switched over to shooting at that danged Un-Dead Fred, the Zombie Archery Target that I placed next to the compost pile. I talk a bit while shooting at the Elusive Tennis Ball, which I did hit.

Shooting a Zombie at Night
I love shooting Un-Dead Fred, the Zombie Archery Target. Most people shoot him in the head and neck until he is totally decapitated. I prefer to shoot in his mid torso so he lasts longer. If you shoot in his middle section, the arrows are much easier to remove, but you do need to use and arrow puller. Shooting him at night is more fun than the day time.

Spyder Recurve Bow vs. Un-Dead Fred, the Zombie Archery Target
Snow went away, but it's still a bit cool. I dawned the Marine Corps hat and shirt because I am about to take out a trespasser. Un-Dead Fred, the Zombie Archery Target has sneaked back into my yard. He was warned, so he'd best stand the heck by. I am going to shoot my Spyder Recurve Bow and a few arrows at his center mass.

Tang Chang An-Asymmetrical Bow from Alibow Archery
I am shooting the Tang Chang An-Asmmetrical Bow from Alibow Archery.
Notice the bow is longer at the top than the bottom.
45# @ 28" 62# @ 35"
I'm 74 years old and have a complete tear in my right shoulder cuff. I refused surgery and took up archery to gain back some strength. I could barely string this bow and drawing it back is really difficult. I should have ordered this laminated bow at a much lower draw weight, then I could have enjoyed shooting it much more and without the pain. Lesson learned. I now try to limit bow purchases to 50# or less. I would recommend 35# to anyone who is new to shooting horse bows.
This bow needs to be drawn back the full 35" to thoroughly enjoy its full potential.

The Goal is to Shoot a Ping Pong Ball Off His Head
I was determined to shoot a ping pong ball off Un-Dead Fred, the Zombie Archery Target's head. I jammed a small piece of pencil into the top of his head and forced a ping pong ball down over the pencil. This made me really nervous as I don't like shooting him in the head. Too many videos show him being decapitated, so I was nervous. Silly dude must have kept moving.I did finally succeed. It may not be a big accomplishment to true archers, but it was exciting to me.The lesson to be learned here is that I mean what I say on my signs on my fence, "No Trespassing."
By focusing on a small target, the archer tends to block out the larger targets.
They say to "Aim small, Shoot small." Hey, I did good to even see the ball.

Tibetan Qinghai Bow from Alibow Archery and New Arrows
I am standing at the side of my house and shooting the Tibetan Qinghai Bow from Alibow Archery. It takes about two months to receive the bow, but it's always worth the wait. This is the lighter weight draw fiber glass version. I also have the laminated version, which is a much higher weight draw. I am shooting wooden arrows, which catch on the bag fabric as they are removed.
I also show off some new arrows. I have shot these for a couple of months now and I am very satisfied with the arrows. They have held up better than some of the more expensive arrows I have purchased.

High Density Foam Archery Targets
In this video I am shooting arrows at a new archery target setup. This runs along the back of the house. The two white squares are heavy dense foam squares. The arrows do pierce through to the back, but the arrows stop. An arrow puller is the best way to remove the arrows, The foam is self healing and I love the squares. I staple target faces to the foam squares and hang various objects in front of the foam.To the left you will see hanging bottles and Christmas ornaments that I shoot at with bb guns and pellet guns. When I finish shooting, I have a tarp that drapes back over the foam targets. I frequently use fast motion clips to save the viewer time in watching the videos. I hope you enjoy the music too.

Shooting at Different Targets and with Different Bows
I am shooting at different targets from about 25 yards. I have some targets hanging from strings so that the targets move in the wind. I like shooting at cds and pop cans. I have quite a few targets set up around the yard. I love shooting at tennis balls. I refer to them as "Elusive Tennis Balls." In the evening, I can shoot along side the house with the light turned on. The misses are fun too, but to hit the ball is very satisfying.

Shooting at a Toilette Paper Cardboard Roll and a Potato
Painting a bag target. Showing how to set up a challenge to shoot an arrow through a toilette paper cardboard roll. Trying to shoot a potato off the head of my Un-dead Fred, the zombie target. I forget that at 74 years of age, my eyes have trouble seeing the danged targets. By the way, that paint was used to paint my fence. When I remove the arrow, the shaft has dry paint on it. I need to try a different paint.

A Pretty Day for Archery Practice-then the wind hits
Gotta love Texas weather. I was enjoying shooting arrows on a gorgeous day.I enjoy the recurve bow at 39 pounds as it is easy on my shoulder. I had rigged up sites on this bow and was playing with it, I shot around the yard in different places because I can't go to any archery ranges. So, I have all sorts of targets set up. I ike shooting at the burlap bags as the arrows are so easy to remove. Why do I have a site on a recurve bow at such short distances? Because I want to learn to use the site before moving to long distances away from my house. And yes, I use a pocket quiver from Lancaster Archery. I shot across the backyard, along side the back of the house, and then along the side of the house. Each place offeres different targets and at different distances. Gotta make the most of what I have. I keep most of the targets covered with plastic tarps and uncover them as needed.
And then...the winds hit.

Un-Dead Fred Zombie Target and the New Foam Squares
I had to shoot Un-Dead Fred, the Zombie Target. Then I shot at at the new foam
target squares with my Kalimasada Bow from Indonesia. The arrows do pierce through the back of the foam and are really tough to remove if you don't use an arrow puller. Even then, grunting really helps.

Tang Chan An Bow from Alibow Archery
The Tang Chan An Bow from Alibow Archey is assymetrical, with the top being longer than the bottom. It is 45 # @ 28" and 62# @35". From the time I ordered, it took about two months to receive the bow, which only gave me something to look forward to.
