Is that this film was produced in Nazi Germany as an anti-semitic piece of propaganda. And this film does contain some anti-semtic tropes however. The truth is, that this film was actually produced in 1933 premiering in 1934 and was the first major motion picture for "20th Century Studios". It was made in response of hitler rising to power and growing anti-semitism in europe. The film it is often confused with the film "Die Rothschilds". Which was produced later in 1940s Nazi Germany , in response to this perceived rosey take of the Rothschilds coming to power
