Lost Treasure of the Guadalupes - Bill Sublett''s Lost Gold Mine
In this 4CRecon series entry, I give a quick status update and then get on to telling some main elements of the Lost Treasures of the Guadalupe Mountains in Texas and New Mexico, USA. Up front, I walk around and pick up agate associated with fire agate on a recent trip, and then I give 4 references for the Bill Sublett Lost Gold Mine story. William Sublett was a real person, and his tale is well known. Where he got the gold remains unknown, however! There are some lesser known treasure stories from this part of the Mountains, too, so Bill may not have been the only one to strike it rich in this otherwise unmineralized, rugged mountain range.

Houndin' 1
Come with me as I rockhound my way along a New Mexico streambed, picking up blue and green minerals like Malachite and Chrysocholla. These particular specimens actually come from a formation that produces copper petrified wood.
