That September Day video illustrates my poem with the same title ... underscoring the sincere range of emotions including the deep sadness, anger, and shock that remains with many Americans ... and none more so than those who lost loved ones ... along with the gratitude and pride for the troops, first responders and others involved in the battle against terrorism ... with lasting honorable remembrance of the brave ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in the ongoing conflict against terrorism. I waited to write my poem, "That September Day", until my youngest son finished his decorated military service with the U.S. Marine Corps, which included deployment in Iraq during 2003 ... as I knew that the potential of him being wounded or becoming a fallen ... would impact the wording of this poem. It underscores the sincere range of emotions including the deep sadness, anger, and shock that has remained with many for all the loved ones lost ... along with the gratitude and pride for the troops, first responders and others involved in the battle against terrorism ... with lasting honorable remembrance of those lost in the attacks on September 11, 2001 and the brave ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in the ongoing conflict against terrorism. And while about a year after writing it, he did finally tell my wife and me about coming extremely close to becoming a fallen when a microscopic near fatal AK47 bullet passed by an ear that missed only due to him turning his head to sounds from the multiple AK47 being shot by vehicles driving by his position near the highway to a local airport. (See Brave Young - https://youtu.be/b3Jg6imdclM) I then decided to create the The September Day video on the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks with the hope that the departure of U.S. troops from active ground combat duty in Afghanistan and elsewhere will not have to occur again ... as it might be due to ... responding to another devastating attack on our beloved USA homeland ... and/or ... an American occupied asset in an allied country. Many heroes from World War II and other wars, who survived to live and enjoy the blessed gifts going forward .. while remaining silent about their individual military endeavors and any medals won ... has kept our beloved USA the land of the free ... allowing all to enjoy and express ... that would never have been ... if it wasn't for their brave actions for country's sake. "I Am The One" is a heartfelt tribute honoring the men and women who have proudly served with valor in the U.S. military from the Revolutionary War through today with many paying the ultimate sacrifice and sustaining wounds of varying severity. Hopefully, it will remind all who experience "I Am The One" that ... those serving and who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces ... do so like brothers and sisters ... having each others' back ... no matter the threat ... through out our beloved nation's history. A visit to the Yorktown Battlefield at Colonial National Historical Park in Virginia ... where the decisive victory by a combined force of 17,000 American Continental Army troops led by General George Washington and French Army troops led by the Comte de Rochambeau over 9,000 British Army troops commanded by British Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis took place in the fall of 1781. "One Nation Under God" is a reminder to all Americans about how blessed our beloved USA has been from the first steps upon her Atlantic shore by the Pilgrims … overcoming Her bloody tragic Civil War … becoming the most powerful country in the world … with beauty from coast to coast … abundant natural resources ... and remaining the beacon of freedom that continues to attract immigrants wanting to pledge allegiance to Old Glory and strive to achieve their American dream. Then there is the right to worship God (or not) as you wish … regardless of one's religion or denomination within … as it is ... a constitutional right!
