Is it better to be lucky or good? AKA: The Tree Bass
While fishing with Rick in the Old Town PDL Kayaks, I was casting a weightless soft plastic Burner Worm up to the shore. I was then reeling it back across the dollar pad mats in the hope of catching bass. I saw a small window through some overhanging tree branches that I was absolutely certain had a bass or two at the back of it. When I made a cast to the spot, the lure sailed a little. The results were priceless...

Fishin with Steve
My second oldest brother Steve has always been more like a father figure to me. He taught me too many things to list, and most importantly everything I know about bass fishing. I hope everyone enjoys this tongue-in-cheek rules of fishing with Steve video. The back camera view is a little low, but the content is priceless.

Boating Safely???
Last week, I went kayak fishing on a local freshwater canal that has water control systems at each end and provides no access to an inland lake or the Gulf of Mexico. While fishing, I witnessed and was directly affected by what I can only describe as an act of stupidity by a person in a boat. With all the boating accidents that have recently occurred, it is time to start calling this dangerous and self-centered behavior out.

The Big Miss!
Last week I was back on my kayak fishing a local canal and hooked a very big bass. The cast I made for the bass was over the top of a brush pile. I had hoped that I would hook a bass on the near side of the brush pile as I brought my lure over the top of it. This bass had different plans...

Rick and the Jerkbait
In this video we share some footage of Rick catching some bass using a Jerkbait. This type of bait can provide a few more challenges than other baits when you use it in a kayak.

Rick and the Speed Worm
Rick spent a lot of time on the water bass fishing in the fall and early winter of 2023. During that time he tried numerous different lures and fishing techniques. If this had been a competition, there would have been a clear winner...

Back on the Water
After being off the water since last June recovering from another back injury, I finally felt strong enough to get back on the water. With the help of my wonderful wife, I was finally able to do some kayak fishing last week. Although, I didn't catch any large bass, I did catch a few small ones and it felt great to get back on the water.
Thank you to my surgeon, Dr. Robert Getter at the MI DISC Spine Care clinic in Port Charlotte, Florida. You and your staff do a fantastic job! Anyone needing spine care in the area should seriously consider contacting Dr. Getter.

Thanks again to my wife for doing everything while I was recovering and for being my wife!

Rick fishing McKibben Park
Rick has once again picked up the slack while I am recovering. He decided to put his kayak in at McKibben Park and had a great day of fishing. He caught 15 total largemouth. His largest catch was a 4-10 off a brush pile. He was using a watermelon red wacky worm. Unfortunately the camera battery had to be changed during the catch and we missed some of the footage of weighing and measuring the bass. This is the video of that catch. Thanks for watching and Enjoy!

Rick's Topwater Blowups
While I am recovering from back surgery, Rick has been picking up the slack. He has been out looking for and fishing new locations. We hope you enjoy watching Rick work a hollow-body frog in a local pond.
Thank you all for watching our friend Bill's cancer video. Bill has completed his Chemo and Radiation treatments. He is now trying to heal from the damage caused by both treatments. The healing is very slow. He has his good days and not so good days, but he continues to keep a positive attitude and takes each day as it comes. Thank you to all of you who watched the video, commented on the video, and sent a positive thought or prayer Bill's way. Your continued thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.

Let's Help Bill, My Bass Fishing Friend, Beat Cancer!
This isn't the typical video I would post about Bass Fishing. However, it is absolutely necessary. Some of you may recall the very first video I shared on Rumble titled, "Billie No Fish." Unfortunately, After serving in the Marine Corps in Vietnam, being wounded in combat and receiving the Bronze Star. Bill returned home from the military to continue a life of service as a Police Officer. He was shot in the line of duty and survived. My friend and fishing partner, Bill is now facing a different type of threat, one that millions of Americans are currently fighting each day...cancer. Bill is a tough old Marine and I believe in my heart that he is going to beat this awful disease. Please watch this video, say a prayer, think a positive thought, and if you have the time to post a positive comment to help Bill endure this long stretch of radiation and chemotherapy, we would all appreciate it more than words can say. Thank
you! Ed from Big Old Yellow Dog Bass Fishing.

Rick's New Kayak
Rick got an awesome new Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL for Father's Day and it hasn't taken him long to get comfortable with it. While we were fishing at Deer Prairie Creek with only a few bites on a tough day, Rick pulled in this nice three pound finale.

Kayak Fishing with my wife.
Last weekend my wife went kayak bass fishing with me for the first time ever. My wife likes to take pictures much more than she likes to fish. On this day however, she caught the largest bass. She was trying to take a picture of the bass while she was reeling it in.

Back to Deer Prairie Creek, Part One
After being closed for several months for renovations, Deer Prairie Creek finally reopened. It was perfect timing for me to take my vacationing brother Steve out kayak fishing in the new Feel Free Moken 10 Pedal Drive kayak. We fished for just under 3 hours and caught 30 bass. Unfortunately, we had some initial difficulties with Steve's hat camera, but were able to get some decent footage. Check back soon for Part Two.

1 Boat Ramp, 2 Docks, and 2 Catches
When I am out fishing and the access ramp isn't busy, I like to make a few casts to the docks and area around the ramp. Many people will skip fishing in the area of the ramp and head straight out to their fishing spot. They will also head straight to the ramp in order to exit the water without ever fishing in the area. If you ignore fishing this area, you may be missing out on some decent fish.

3 Hours and 12 Bass with a 5 lb Finale
I didn't get on the water until about 12:30 pm, but it turned out to be a good day kayak fishing the Cocoplum Waterway. I even had a first during this outing. A bass appeared to give me a "high fin" after I released it. See if you can spot it. Thank you for watching.
