Surviving Corona (Personal AND Business Tips for any Epidemic)
Is the Coronavirus nothing, or is it the end of the world? We've heard it all at this point, so I wanted to weigh in give you my thoughts, because I've had a lot of survival experience, both personal and professional, and people are asking. So here's my best advice for network marketers on surviving Coronavirus...
#1 - In times of crisis, people default back to their training.
In the military days, whenever things got really crazy, my outlet was to laugh. When times are dark, and you can't make sense of anything, why not laugh? It does no good to get worried, because you can't really think at that point -- getting worries doesn't solve the problem.
The lighter you are, the better you can think. Period. We had a saying in the military: "First you do this, and then you do this." (meaning, go back to your checklist from your training)
Every time you feel that "locked up" feeling of worry... go back to your checklist.
#2 - Evaluate what is -- don't try to solve the mysteries.
It's easy to be looking at so much news/media/etc that you forfeit your ability to look ahead. Decide what can affect you personally (and the probability of it happening), and do your best to make sane decisions AHEAD OF TIME, based on the data you have. If you get new data in the future, adjust your plan accordingly.
#3 - Basic Survival Tips (8:00)
If you don't have a plan B, allocate the time now to create it. Lots of tactical advice here, and I've put some links below... But the biggest thing is don't fight your situation -- decide it. The time it takes you to decide yes/no between something in the moment could cost you.
#4 - The Social Veneer is wearing off (13:51)
We've been living in an entitled society, and times like these force a "peeling off" of the fake status, and we all get a dose of reality. For some people it's a very harsh thing, but I believe it needs to happen every so often in a society.
Too many times, our bias in a particular area affects our judgement, and now -- in the midst of crisis -- we ditch our biases because of truth, and our awareness of what's real is coming up. And that's a good thing.
#5 - Network Marketing Tips During This Time
Once again, the pipeline reigns supreme. Even in the worst of times, companies don't fire those who are making sales.
In fact, Network Marketing companies don't "take hits" -- their leaders just pause doing the pipeline, and sales suffer. Traditionally, strong (frugal) companies will boom in poor conditions -- fortunes are made during recessions. No business can afford to lose their best marketers/sellers.
IMPORTANT -- New leaders are being decided now.
It's in the time of crisis that you really identify leadership. You want to be a stabilizing factor, because people are kinda wobbly -- they're looking for stability.
People want stable leadership, not a cheerleader. Somebody who's really looking after them, not blowing smoke that everything is gonna be OK.
So with your customers and your team members, make sure you don't invalidate a concern they have. Address it. Be truthful. Walk through it together. Look at the best/worst outcomes and make an educated guess on how best to proceed.
And if I had to boil it down to just 2 things:
1. Hug your family often -- that's all you have
2. Make people's life better

Straight Talk Part 7: Only These People Make Money
Real talk… there's 3 myths about network marketing businesses that we're tackling today. (1) Only the people at the top make any money; (2) Only those who get in early make any money; and (3) Only those who open a new territory (or new country) make any money.
You've gotta be so careful who you listen to on this, because the "advice" changes dramatically, based on who you talk to. Today I'm gonna tell you the real truth about this industry, from my own 30 years of experience.
I don't mind critics. But I do mind when people are out there badmouth Network Marketing strictly for their own agenda. They're trying to destabilize your network marketing business, so they can get you to switch gears and buy their training course instead.
I think that's dishonest, and just plain wrong. Let me show you...

"I Don’t Know Anyone”
When I first got started in network marketing, my "day job" was defusing bombs in the military. I was quiet, and I kept to myself -- probably the farthest thing from being a social person. But I wanted more, and so I had to wrestle with this idea in my head that "I don't have anybody to talk to."
I've heard it said from some other people this way:
"I don't know anyone (who would want to do network marketing)."
The truth is that I was self-invalidating. Making excuses for myself because I didn't want to get out of my comfort zone.
I was uncomfortable in communication.
Uncomfortable in going out and talking to people about my product. What I realized was that generating leads isn't the problem. This is an internal struggle we have to look at -- specifically how to get good at communication.

Whose Fault Is It If You Fail At Network Marketing? (Part 2)
This is a continuation of Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPt1dTUjC50
Tim Sales is responding to an anti-MLM YouTuber who says "if you fail at network marketing, it's not your fault... because of 'the business model' and 'too much saturation in the market...'"
Here's my Top 5 points:
#1 - Yes, the MLM business model has to do with recruiting. But so does EVERY business model. Pick any business... let's say a barber shop. If that barber doesn't recruit, he's going to stay small and only be able to earn profit off of his own time and ability. But if he brings on another barber, he can make a percentage off their efforts also, and begin to leverage himself.
Whether you pay them a salary or you pay them straight commission is irrelevant. The point is, everybody has to recruit. Period.
#2 - Over-saturation in network marketing is an excuse. It's not real. People draw out this exponential math problem of "you get 5, who get 5, who get 5" ... and soon the numbers are larger than the population of the planet. That's not real, and it never happens that way.
Everyone in network marketing earns on finite levels, and so it's actually possible to make more money than the people above you. If you blame saturation, go to a younger/newer company.
#3 - Be cautious who you take advice from.
This series has been focused on "Kylie" -- a makeup artist who has made made it her business to bash network marketers. She is an armchair critic -- someone who has never done this business -- but parades around as if she knows it. She's the one advising you?
#4 - Just quit vs. Get tough
In her advice, she says "Just quit, that's what you should do. It's okay..." WOW!
What does "I quit" mean? It means apathy. It means, "I can't do anything about it."
If you have that philosophy, I would guess you have a long string of failures behind you.
Real experts look at problems by evaluating the data. They gather lots of data points at each area that moves the business forward. And then, they evaluate each one of them.
- "Am I doing what I should be doing?"
- "Am I effective in the pipeline?
- "Is the company shipping good products?"
Be brutally honest, and determine what the real problem is. And yes, if you determine the company is the problem, then get another company.
#5 - Saying "it's not your fault" is popular, but it creates failure.
When you give you excuses to others, and they give you sympathy, it feels really therapeutic... but actually it's really damaging. If you want to succeed in life, go back to every failure and figure out what you did or didn't do that caused the failure.
To have success in network marketing, master the pipeline. Know and do each column.
1. Generate a lead (can be in person or online, however you want)
2. Contact that lead
3. Set an appointment
4. Do a presentation (can be online, can be a pre-recorded video)
5. Follow up until they say YES or NO
The sales pipeline is the law of every organization (not just an MLM business). Universities do it, sports teams do it, churches do it, even the military does it.

You're Brainwashed! Tim Sales vs Dan Lok
Are people in network marketing companies brainwashed? In this episode of "Straight Talk" I'm going to expose yet another example of how competitors try to poach network marketers by badmouthing the industry and name-calling. These guys are out there pretending to be haters for the purpose of getting traffic and eyeballs onto them, so that they can sell you their product instead.
Notice the emotional language they use to elicit a reaction:
- You feel so dirty, like you need to take a shower
- Like a cheesy salesman
- Drag family and friends to your meeting
- You've gotta pounce on people
- Brainwashed
- Everyone is a potential recruit
I'm exposing their technique, because it's time someone stood up and pushed back on those who would seek to badmouth and criticize this industry.

Do Network Marketing Businesses Collapse?
Does every network marketing business eventually collapse because there's no more new people join, like a pyramid scheme or a Ponzi scheme would? And if so, is it possible to lose all your money? Is there ever a point where you run out of leads and "get stuck" at the bottom? Let's talk about it...
Skeptics say that MLM relies on the "multiplication factor" and repeatedly throw out simplified "geometric" numbers that look cool on paper, but do they actually happen in real life?
Is there a chance you can lose money, and how does that compare to things like real estate or the stock market?

Network Marketers STOP Giving Ammo
Here's a great example of a YouTuber using her platform and influence to make anti-MLM videos. She's a makeup artist with lots of followers, who has made it her goal to "shut down Network Marketing." And I've gotta give her credit, because seeing what she found made me cringe...
I have nothing against this lady. But when her content crosses over into the network marketing world, it lands on my radar. And when somebody states things that are untrue or out of context, I'm going to correct it.
To all the people building a network marketing business, I want you to learn from this video, how you come across to others with what you're saying.
We live in a time where anyone can take your words and twist them and put them on display for all the world to see.
We need to clean it up.
I feel it's my responsibility to respond, and for you to share this video so that other network marketers can tighten up their game.
- Don't make silly claims you can't back up with real data.
- Don't make promises you can't keep.
- Treat your business like a REAL business, and that means actually learning how to market and sell.
This channel is here to show that you get much better results when you're a professional.
The people who earn the most money in network marketing are the professionals -- the ones that really know their game. And so I'm gonna challenge YOU to really know your game.

Whose Fault Is It If You Fail At Network Marketing? (Part 1) - Tim Sales
If you SUCCEED at something, is it your fault? If you FAIL at something, is it your fault? The anti-MLM crowd says network marketing companies are not set up for high success rates because of the business model and too much saturation in the market. Is that true, or is it an excuse?
They say, "It's not your fault that it didn't work out for you in these companies." ... because there's something else to blame.
They assert that it's not a matter of "you didn't try" or "you didn't believe in yourself enough" ... and they even go so far as to say that those who failed are "smart people, educated people, and that they most definitely did try."
But "smart" and "educated" doesn't mean PRODUCTION.
And "trying" doesn't equal "doing".
In the military, everything is about "mission accomplished." Getting "done's."
In the military, if you cannot accomplish the mission, you're moved out of the way, and they bring in somebody else who will.
There's a right and a wrong way to do this business, and my experience tells me it comes down to one thing: TRAINING.
What do we train on? THE PIPELINE.
If you do the pipeline, and you train on the various components of it, you will have success.
If you do NOT do the Pipeline, you will fail, no matter how much you "believe in yourself."
But this video is about blame. Who is at fault when someone fails?
Here's my experience:
If you blame (XYZ) for your failure, you will never succeed and (that same XYZ thing) haunts you, because you let it beat you.
Telling someone, "It's OK, it's not your fault!" is destructive, because you handicap them from working through the pain in order to break through to success.
Success requires grit. It requires overcoming obstacles. And we're building leaders. Not for the faint of heart.

Straight Talk: Dan Lok's Bait and Switch Revealed (plus a shocker at the end!)
Dan Lok and Desmond Soon have been trashing network marketing for over a year. They claim to hate MLM, and they claim that they're "dispelling the myths"... There's just one problem, and it's that his videos are nothing more than a "bait and switch" for you to go buy his stuff instead...
Here's exactly what it is: His pitch is that you 'need' to first develop a high income skill (i.e. selling expensive products/services), and only then should you do business.
He's corralling the multilevel marketing industry, finding 'faults' with it, and then pitching his own "high income skills" course as the solution.
But that's not all he's doing... In fact, he just revealed his own hypocrisy! His hidden intention is about to finally show itself... And it's a shocker. Folks, I can't make this stuff up.
BONUS - want to learn high-ticket sales without having to pay his hefty $2500 fee? I'll teach it to you in this video. (It's not hard.)

What is Network Marketing? (Very Simple Explanation) - Tim Sales
I was interviewed in the Wall Street Journal and a Washington D.C. magazine, and what they write about Network Marketing is very confusing. From someone who's been in it for 32 years and made millions, trust me that network marketing is actually very simple. Here's how I explain it...

Larry King Interviews Tim Sales (2009) - Full Interview
When there was no one in the media willing to talk about it, Larry King was intrigued by the MLM industry and its perception by outsiders, and he wanted to participate in bringing "the unvarnished truth" about the Network Marketing industry to the public. I'm forever grateful for that, and I'll always remember this day.
Rest in peace, my friend, Larry King. You were a brilliant man, with an appetite for curiosity and an ability to really dig in and pull out the facts from people. It was an honor to be interviewed by you in 2009 on this stage.

04:57 - Is it more important to get reps than sell products?
06:49 - Is there a defect in MLM?
07:36 - How did Tim Sales get into Network Marketing?
08:35 - What changes would Tim like to see in MLM?
11:40 - What is a pyramid scheme?
