Microscope Video

A trick I found by accident when using my Nikon Fluophot Microscope.

Now this is a very strange critter. A slow moving amoeba.

Next time you have rice for dinner, don't think about this video. Ha.

This bdelloid rotifer has found himself a nice garden to anchor himself in and whip up a meal. I love watching these guys work. Some rotifers are so big you can see them with just your eyes.

This Bdelloid has found a nce safe spot in some water plant stalks and set up shop.

This guy is looking for new territory to set up shop and get to work. Sometimes they walk and sometimes they swim. It looks like they are flying.

Nematodes safely under a microscope slide where they can't get to me. Found these in moss from my yard, where people walk barefoot. Yikes.

This microbe has a foot to attach itself to a srface as he has here, then he just sits there and filter feeds, he can also detach and swim to another location.

Just searching around a drop of water and found this. The world is full of mystery.

Look at a drop of water under a microscope and you just never know what you will find, like the bit of dead plant cells with polorized light.

I took a collection of water from the Mississippi River and checked out a drop under my microscope, and this is what I found.

This is an odd looking amoeba, living inside a hard shell he builds around himself. A very interesting lifestyle.

He's built a new house and now his twin brother is going to move into it. Fascinating what our earth has developed on it.

Chaetonotus Gastrotricha at about 100x magnification, otherwise known as a flat worm.

Collotheca-Ornata has a foot to attach himself to a surface and then he begins filtering the water around him for yummy stuff to eat. You can watch him eat.
