Happy New Year!! In today's video, I am enjoying homemade hot chocolate, showing you a minimal evening skin care routine plus making a double batch of lasagna for a family gathering! Hot Chocolate Recipe: 6 tablespoons powdered sugar 6 tablespoons powdered milk 2 tablespoons powdered cocoa 6 tablespoons powdered creamer 2 tablespoons chocolate chips Mini Marshmallows Candy Cane Combine all of the ingredients into a glass jar with lid. Top with marshmallows and for a minty addition of flavor, stir the hot chocolate with the candy cane. Lasagna Recipe (need to double the ingredients below to make the large pan you watched in video) 1 lb ground beef 1 jar of Traditional Prego 1 (15 ounce) carton ricotta cheese 1 egg 1 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 1 box of lasagna noodles Boil noodles as directed (about 10-11 minutes). Remove from heat immediately and run cold water into pan so noodles won't overcook. Set aside. While noodles are cooking, brown ground beef in large saucepan, drain grease, place in a bowl and mix in the Prego sauce combining the meat and sauce thoroughly. Set aside. Combine the egg, ricotta cheese and 1/4 cup of the parmesan in a bowl stirring until the mixture is smooth with no lumps. Spread about 1/4 cup meat sauce in bottom of lasagna pan then begin building the lasagna by layering in this order: Noodles, meat sauce, ricotta cheese mixture, a sprinkling of parmesan, mozzarella cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used in the layering process finishing up with a generous topping of the mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown and sides are bubbly. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!! Interested in Hexclad? Merry Christmas!! On Day 7, we are making yummy snacks for our family Christmas movie night! Grilled Cheese & Ham Sandwiches: Bread Slices Butter (softened-room temp is best for spreading purposes Mustard or Mayonnaise (optional) Deli Meat of Choice (optional) Cheese slices of choice Spread butter on one side of each bread slice, place one slice (butter side down) into a saute or fry pan that has been heated on medium heat, working quickly spread the mustard or mayonnaise then layer the deli meat and cheese, top with a buttered slice of bread and monitor closely while flipping the sandwich from side to side until both sides are golden toasty brown and the cheese is melted. Remove from pan and place onto a plate, cut in half and serve. Enjoy! Mini Pepperoni Pizzas: 1 Pillsbury Pizza Dough Crust 3 tablespoons melted butter 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 can tomato sauce 1 package of pepperoni 1 16 oz package of shredded mozzarella Preheat oven to 400. Stir garlic powder into the melted butter. On a cookie sheet, roll out the pizza dough crust and cut into 6 squares. Brush the garlic butter onto each slice of pizza and place in preheated oven for 3-5 minutes until top is slightly puffy and golden in color. Remove from oven, let pan cool to avoid anyone getting burnt and then layer in this order, tomato sauce, cheese, pepperoni and more cheese to top it off. Place back in oven and bake until the cheese is melted and golden in color. Serve and enjoy! Spinach Dip: 1 cup of mayonnaise 1 16 oz. container of sour cream 1 package of Knorr Vegetable Spring Mix 1 can sliced water chestnuts, (drain all liquid) 3-4 green onions 2 boxes of frozen chopped spinach (leave out on countertop for about an hour to allow for some thawing) Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream and Knorr vegetable spring mix together in a large bowl (with lid) and set aside. Chop the water chestnuts and green onion into small bite size pieces and add to the mayonnaise/sour cream mixture. Finish thawing out and cooking the spinach in the microwave in 1 minutes increments stirring after each time until the spinach is completely cooked, once the spinach is cooled enough to handle, squeeze all the liquid out of the spinach and then combine that with the rest of the ingredients. Once all is mixed together well, cover with lid and chill the dip in the refrigerator for one hour, then serve with crackers (Sociables is best) and enjoy! Hershey's Kisses Blossom Cookies: Cookie dough of choice (peanut butter, sugar work best) Hershey Kisses of choice Bake cookies according to recipe on package or your own family recipe. While the cookies are baking in the oven, unwrap the Hershey kisses and place in a bowl (kids love helping with this part!). Once the cookies are removed from the oven and while still warm, place a Hershey kiss in the middle of each cookie, remove from pan and let cool on wire rack. Serve and enjoy! Interested in Hexclad? Merry Christmas!! On Day 6, it is a dreary weather day outside but inside we are opening up an exciting delivery, making comfort food and wrapping Christmas gifts. Chicken Casserole Recipe: Leftover chicken or turkey chopped/torn into bite size pieces (I normally use rotisserie chicken) 1 can cream of chicken or mushrooom soup (it is good with either one) 2 cups of mixed vegetables (either frozen or canned, drain all liquid if using canned) 1 to 3 cups of milk 1 package of Bisquick (original) Preheat oven to 350. In casserole dish, combine the chicken, soup, vegetables and approximately 3/4 to 1 cup of the milk, salt and pepper to taste. In a separate mixing bowl, use the remaining milk combined with Bisquick to make the casserole bread topping, be sure to use enough milk so that the batter is pourable enough to completely cover the top of the chicken/vegetable mixture. Bake uncovered at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until the topping is a golden brown. Enjoy! This casserole will reheat well in the microwave so don't hesitate to make a double batch for busy work weeks! Merry Christmas!! On Day 1 we are making affordable gifts for family, friends and co-workers plus taking a look at gingerbread houses and Christmas decorations at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville NC. Russian Tea Recipe: 2 cups sugar 2 cups orange drink mix powder (preferrably Tang) 1 cup instant tea powder 3 oz. lemonade drink mix powder (preferably Country Time) 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves Combine all ingredients together in a large mixing bowl and then transfer into glass containers with lids for gift giving. Be sure to put a tag on it so that the recipient will know to stir 3-4 heaping tablespoons of the mix into a mug of hot water to enjoy the wonderful spicy, fruity taste of Russian Tea. Hot Chocolate Recipe: 1 tablespoon powdered sugar 1 tablespoon powdered milk 2 teaspoons cocoa 1 tablespoon powdered creamer 1 tablespoon chocolate chips Mini Marshmallows (enough to fill to the top of the jar) Candy Cane Layer all of the ingredients in order (except for the candy cane) into a 8 oz glass jar with lid. Using a ribbon, tie the candy cane to the side of the jar along with a tag instructing the recipient to pour all of the contents of the jar into a mug of hot water to enjoy a rich, yummy, chocolatey drink. For a minty addition of flavor, they can stir their hot chocolate with the candy cane.
