TOO LATE FOR TEARS (1949) Classic Film Noir Starring Lizabeth Scott
A ruthless woman resorts to multiple murders in an attempt to retain a suitcase containing $60,000 that does not belong to her.
TOO LATE FOR TEARS is a classic film noir directed by Byron Haskin and starring Lizabeth Scott. The screenplay was written by Roy Huggins who developed it from a serial he wrote for The Saturday Evening Post.
Cast:
* Lizabeth Scott as Jane Palmer
* Don DeFore as Don Blake/Blanchard
* Dan Duryea as Danny Fuller
* Arthur Kennedy as Alan Palmer
* Kristine Miller as Kathy Palmer
* Barry Kelley as Lieutenant Breach
Originally released by United Artists in the summer of 1949, the film was reissued under the alternate title Killer Bait in 1955. It received mixed reviews from critics. The film was a box-office bomb, and its financial failure resulted in the film's producer, Hunt Stromberg, filing bankruptcy. In the years since its release, it has been noted for featuring one of Scott's strongest performances, and her character one of the most vicious femme fatales in film noir.
Too Late for Tears has long been in the public domain. It is being presented here for entertainment and historical purposes. Notes from Wikipedia.

ALGIERS (1938) Classic Film Starring Charles Boyer & Hedy Lamar
A notorious French jewel thief is hiding in the labyrinthine native quarter of Algiers known as the Casbah. Feeling imprisoned by his self-imposed exile, he is drawn out of hiding by a beautiful French tourist who reminds him of happier times in Paris. This 1938 classic drama was directed by John Cromwell & written by John Howard Lawson and stars Charles Boyer, Sigrid Gurie, and Hedy Lamarr.
Algiers was a sensation because it was the first Hollywood film starring Hedy Lamarr, whose beauty became the main attraction for film audiences. The film is notable as one of the sources of inspiration to the screenwriters of the 1942 Warner Bros. film Casablanca, who wrote it with Hedy Lamarr in mind as the original female lead. Charles Boyer's depiction of Pepe le Moko inspired the Warner Bros. animated character Pepé Le Pew.
In 1966, Algiers entered the public domain in the United States because the claimants did not renew its copyright registration. It is being presented here for entertainment and historical purposes.

THE OUTLAW (1943) Howard Hughes' Western Classic Starring Jane Russell
Howard Hughes' Most Daring Production "The Outlaw" (1943)
Western legends Pat Garrett, Doc Holliday and Billy the Kid are played against each other over the law and the attentions of vivacious country vixen Rio McDonald. Starring Jane Russell in her film debut!
Cast:
* Jack Buetel as Billy the Kid
* Jane Russell as Rio McDonald
* Thomas Mitchell as Pat Garrett
* Walter Huston as Doc Holliday
* Mimi Aguglia as Guadalupe
* Joe Sawyer as Charley
* Gene Rizzi as stranger who tries to trick Billy
* Dickie Jones as boy (uncredited)
* Edward Peil Sr. as Swanson (uncredited)
* Lee Shumway as card dealer (uncredited)
Written by: Jules Furthman, Howard Hawks & Ben Hecht
Howard Hughes produced the film, and Howard Hawks served as an uncredited co-director. The film is notable as Russell's breakthrough role to becoming a sex symbol and Hollywood icon.
Notes (From Wikipedia):
After the film was completed in February 1941, Hughes faced difficulty obtaining approval from the Hollywood Production Code Administration because of the film's display of Russell's breasts. The Code office ordered cuts, and Hughes reluctantly removed about 40 feet, or a half-minute, of footage that prominently featured Russell's bust. However, 20th Century Fox wished to cancel its agreement to release The Outlaw as a result.
Facing the loss of millions of dollars, Hughes sought to create a public outcry for his film to be banned. Hughes had his managers call ministers, women's clubs and housewives, informing them about the purportedly lewd film soon to be released. This caused the public protests and calls to ban the film for which Hughes had hoped in order to establish a demand for the film's release.
The film opened February 5, 1943 at the Geary Theatre in San Francisco on a reserved seat, upped scale basis, without the Hays office purity seal but with the Production Code seal of approval.
The Outlaw was rereleased by United Artists in the first week of March 1946 at the Loew's theatre in Richmond, Virginia where it set a house record for the weekend. Six minutes were cut for the rerelease.
The film faced further challenges with its advertising, which wasn't approved by the Motion Picture Association, and in September 1946, the film's seal of approval was revoked. As United Artists were not members of the Association, they didn't have to cease distribution. These issues limited the number of theatres where it could play and, by the end of its run in 1947, it had earned UA $2.5 million.
In 1948, RKO, now owned by Hughes, acquired distribution rights. Further cuts were made to secure the Production Code seal of approval in October 1949. It opened over the 1950 New Year holiday in 21 theatres and performed well in its opening. There was an additional rerelease in 1952. By 1968, the film was reported to have grossed $20 million.
Hughes sued Classic Film Museum, Inc. and Alan J. Taylor for unlawful distribution of Hell's Angels, Scarface and The Outlaw. When it emerged that The Outlaw had fallen into the public domain in 1969 for lack of copyright renewal, the case was settled, with Classic Film Museum agreeing to stop distribution of the two copyrighted titles and Hughes withdrawing his claim on The Outlaw.
The film is presented in it's original black and white version for entertainment and historical purposes.

Messiah of Evil (1973) Cult Classic Horror Film Starring Marianna HIll & Michael Greer
Messiah of Evil (1973) Rated R
A young woman searching for her missing artist father finds herself in the strange seaside town of Point Dune, which seems to be under the influence of a mysterious undead cult.
Co-written, co-produced, and co-directed by Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz, and starring Marianna Hill, Michael Greer, Anitra Ford, Royal Dano and Elisha Cook Jr.
Made in 1973 and released theatrically in late 1974, it would later be re-released under a number of alternate titles, including Dead People, Night of the Damned, Return of the Living Dead, and Revenge of the Screaming Dead.
Messiah of Evil was listed at #95 on IndieWire's 100 Greatest Horror Movies of All-Time, with the film's entry stating, "While Messiah of Evil is lesser known, it’s full of iconic and memorable scenes that recall to mind some of George A. Romero’s best work."
Ironically, the film was involved in a dispute in the 1978 when a Chicago distributor released it under the title "Return of the Living Dead". The title was chosen to make it sound as part of the "Living Dead" franchise and this was misleading. The Laurel Group (also known as Laurel Entertainment), founded in 1976 by George A. Romero and Richard P. Rubinstein, took legal action against this use of the title. Eventually the Motion Picture Association of America decided that Romero did not hold exclusive rights to the terms Living Dead, but ruled against the use of the misleading title for "Messiah". It was relased theatrically one last time in 1980 under the title 'Dead People".
Directors Huyck and Katz are the husband-and-wife team who would subsequently direct "Howard the Duck" (1986) as well as produce screenplays for "American Graffiti" (1973) and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" (1984).
The film has fallen into the public domain.
This film in being presented for entertainment, nostalgic and historical purposes only. I do not own this film.

The Exorcist Original 1973 TV Spot - The Exorcist was Released 50 Years Ago Today!
This is the original 1973 U.S. TV Spot for the classic horror 'The Exorcist", which opened 50 years ago today (December 26, 1973).
"The movie you've been waiting for ... without the wait."
From Wikipeadia:
The Exorcist is a 1973 American supernatural horror film directed by William Friedkin from a screenplay by William Peter Blatty, based on his 1971 novel of the same name. The film stars Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller, and Linda Blair. The story follows the demonic possession of a young girl and her mother's attempt to rescue her through an exorcism by two Catholic priests.
Blatty, who also produced, and Friedkin, his choice as director, had difficulty casting the film. Their choice of relative unknowns Burstyn, Blair, and Miller, instead of major stars, drew opposition from Warner Bros. Pictures executives. Principal photography was also difficult, taking place in both hot deserts and refrigerated sets. Many cast and crew were injured, some died, and unusual accidents delayed shooting. Production took twice as long as scheduled and cost almost three times the initial budget; the many mishaps have led to a belief that the film was cursed.
The Exorcist was released in 24 theaters in the United States on December 26, 1973. Reviews were mixed, but audiences waited in long lines during cold weather; the sold-out shows were even more profitable for Warner, since they had booked it into those theaters under four wall distribution rental agreements, the first time a major studio had done that. Some viewers suffered adverse physical reactions, fainting or vomiting to shocking scenes such as a realistic cerebral angiography. Many children were allowed to see it, leading to charges that the MPAA ratings board had accommodated Warner by giving the film an R rating instead of the X rating to ensure the troubled production its commercial success. Several cities attempted to ban it outright or prevent children from attending. At the end of its original theatrical run the film grossed $193 million, and has a lifetime gross of $441 million with subsequent re-releases.
The cultural conversation around the film helped it become the first horror film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as nine others. Blatty won Best Adapted Screenplay, while the sound engineers took Best Sound. It has had several sequels and was the highest-grossing R-rated horror film (unadjusted for inflation) until It. The Exorcist had a significant influence on pop culture, and several publications regard it as one of the greatest horror films ever made. In 2010, the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
Please note that I do not own this video. This material is being presented for historical, nostalgic and entertainment purposes only.

Classic 1990 Diet Coke TV Commercial Featuring Elton John & Paula Abdul - Full 60 Second Version
This is a Diet Coke TV commercial from 1990 Featuring Elton John & Paula Abdul. This classic ad was very popular in the early 90's, and was later shortened to a 30 second commercial, but this is the rare 60 second ad that I believe ran during the 1990 Superbowl.
I do not own this video or anything in it. I am just presenting it for entertainment, historical and nostalgic purposes. Also, I apologize for the poor video quality. The source material had limitations, and it's a rather difficult commercial to find at this point in it's uncut form.
